Chapter 67 - Ch 67- No weakness

"Alvin…" Vera's voice trembled, as if fear had seized her throat.

She suddenly stopped, the soles of her shoes scraping faintly against the ground, not daring to move even an inch closer to Alvin.

She stared straight at him, only to see his face filled with cold detachment and unwavering resolve, an expression like a blade piercing directly into Vera's heart.

In an instant, the guilt and self reproach of abandoning him surged like a rising tide, completely engulfing her and reaching their peak at this moment.

Just then, Alvin's figure vanished in an instant.

Vera only felt a gust of cold wind sweep rapidly past her.

Immediately afterward,

A dull bang erupted in the air, the sound heavy and deep, like a giant hammer striking against her heart.

"Ugh…"

"Pfft…!" A cry of pain mixed with the sound of blood being spat out echoed together, forming a horrifying symphony.

Vera was terrified. Her heart felt as if it would leap straight out of her throat.

She spun around in panic, only to see Iron Jaw already slammed violently against the wall, the plaster crumbling and falling around him.

At this moment, he was coughing up blood, his body slowly sliding downward and leaving behind a shocking smear of blood across the wall.

Meanwhile Alvin, his steps calm and steady, slowly walked toward Iron Jaw once more, each step echoing like the drumbeat of death.

"Ah!!" Vera screamed, her voice piercing the silent hall. "Alvin! Don't… don't kill him! I beg you!"

Her face was filled with terror as she rushed desperately toward Iron Jaw, her hair flying wildly behind her.

Alvin acted as if he had heard nothing, giving no response.

His figure vanished like a phantom again, and in the next moment he appeared directly in front of Iron Jaw.

Under Iron Jaw's terrified gaze, Alvin reached out and gripped his neck tightly like an iron pincer, then smashed him brutally onto the ground.

"Bang!" A dull and violent impact shook the hall as the floor cracked apart.

At the moment Iron Jaw's body struck the ground, the force crushed him instantly into mangled flesh. Blood splattered everywhere, and the air was quickly filled with a nauseating metallic smell.

"You? You dared to harbor murderous intent toward me?" Alvin looked at the ruined corpse of Iron Jaw with an indifferent expression, his voice cold and stern.

At this moment Vera's heart was completely filled with fear.

Looking at the bloody and brutal scene before her, her entire body trembled. She did not even dare make a sound, her throat feeling as if it had been sealed shut.

She stared at Alvin in disbelief, unable to understand how her son had become like this.

Why was he so ruthless?

Could the newspapers really be telling the truth? Had Alvin truly become a cruel and murderous demon?

Alvin slowly turned his head, his gaze settling on Vera.

He spoke calmly.

"He sent people to kill me today, and now I have killed him. That seems very reasonable, doesn't it?"

Hearing Alvin's voice, Vera slowly came back to her senses.

She looked at him with eyes filled with pain and immediately retorted almost instinctively.

"Impossible!

Today I already stopped Iron Jaw and told him not to attack you, so why did you still kill him?!

Have you really become what the newspapers say? A cold blooded demon who kills without even blinking?"

Before Vera could finish speaking, Alvin's fiery red eyes suddenly deepened into a strange crimson, and a terrifying killing intent burst out from his body.

Seeing Alvin like this and feeling the chilling aura pouring from him, Vera felt a cold shiver run from the soles of her feet all the way to the top of her head.

Her heart filled with terror, as if Alvin would leap forward like a beast and tear her apart in the next second.

However, a sliver of rationality allowed Alvin to suppress the killing intent rising within him.

He looked at Vera and asked in a slightly hoarse voice.

"Of course. One is the man you lived with for fifteen years, and the other is the disposable son you abandoned when he was only a child. Why would you believe what I say?"

Hearing this, Vera opened her mouth.

But her throat felt as if something was stuck inside it.

In the end she could not say a single word. Tears simply flowed silently and uncontrollably down her cheeks.

Alvin continued speaking as if talking to himself.

"Actually, in the beginning I only wanted to come here to see you once, and then leave this country.

But I did not expect this man to be so bold. He actually sent your son to kill the other son you abandoned fifteen years ago.

Anyone who tries to kill me will have only one ending. Death. Isn't that right, Princess Vera?"

After saying this, Alvin looked at Vera coldly, his gaze as sharp as an ice blade.

"I… I… I don't know… I'm just a woman.

I know I wronged you. I can compensate you. I will give you anything you want.

As long as you don't kill Iron Bear, I can give you anything. Alright?" Vera wiped away her tears, speaking incoherently, her eyes filled with desperate pleading.

At this moment Alvin smiled.

But there was no warmth in that smile.

He spoke softly.

"Unfortunately, that foolish fellow already had his head crushed by me."

"You mean… you already killed Iron Bear?" Vera stared blankly at the unfamiliar son before her, a chill shooting straight into her mind.

"I said it already. Anyone who tries to kill me will not be spared. Princess Vera, you should not be making such an expression. After all, a son is something you can abandon whenever you wish." Alvin looked at Princess Vera with a mocking expression.

At this moment her gaze toward Alvin was filled with disappointment.

Sure enough, someone who had grown up among the lower classes could never possess the noble bearing of someone like Iron Bear.

But… Iron Bear had actually been killed…

The guilt she had once felt about abandoning Alvin fifteen years ago slowly faded away.

If she had not left with Iron Jaw back then, she would never have enjoyed the noble life of the past fifteen years.

Now that both Iron Bear and Iron Jaw were dead, she was the only one remaining in the entire royal family.

Did that mean she could become the queen of this country?

Thinking of this, a sudden ambition rose inside Vera. It felt thrilling and slightly frightening at the same time.

But if she wanted to maintain her current luxurious and noble life, she had to do this.

Only by becoming queen would she no longer have to live submissively as she once had.

"Hmph." Alvin let out a cold snort, as if mocking Vera, and perhaps mocking himself as well for having once harbored even the slightest illusion about this woman today.

Indeed.

A woman who could abandon her own child at the age of one in order to pursue a more noble life could never possibly be anything else.

But this was fine as well.

It meant that his final weakness had finally disappeared.

Thinking of this, Alvin gave Vera a meaningful glance. Without saying another word, he calmly turned and walked out of the palace.

Only after Alvin's figure had completely vanished did Princess Vera become excited.

She immediately began contacting the deputy army commander along with several other ministers.

Every person she contacted was someone with influence whom she believed she could win over and make obey her.

Only…
