"After that... after that was a long period of peace, a full ten years," Goku continued. "After the World Martial Arts Tournament ended, I took the reincarnated Buu to the Lookout to train... and then..." Goku proceeded to tell Vegeta everything about how he turned back into a child, as well as the incident with Baby and the Tuffle race.
Vegeta fell silent.
Ten years had passed? Was that entire ten-year period a blank space? That didn't seem right! He remembered that about three years after the Majin Buu incident, Beerus would wake up and descend upon Earth. Why was it that in Kakarot's world, there was no mention of Beerus and Whis?
"Three years after Majin Buu, Beerus didn't come to Earth?" Vegeta asked, narrowing his eyes.
Goku shook his head.
"So, in your previous life, Beerus and Whis never appeared?" Vegeta asked again.
"I never saw them... I only heard Old Kai mention Lord Beerus," Goku said, then asked curiously, "Who is this Whis you're talking about?"
"Let's set the matter of Whis aside for now," Vegeta said, having no intention of introducing him. "Continue!"
Goku nodded and briefly recounted the events of his previous world, from Baby to Super 17, and finally to the Shadow Dragons.
Vegeta fell silent once more. So Kakarot had been killed by the Shadow Dragons. He wondered if those Shadow Dragons would appear in this life.
"Vegeta, your turn. Tell me about what happened in your world," Goku said, his interest piqued.
Vegeta had no intention of hiding anything and recounted everything that had happened in his world.
"Zamasu? He went to Trunks' world? He was the North Kai of another universe? He used some Super Dragon Balls to swap bodies with me?" Goku was caught between laughter and tears upon hearing this.
Vegeta nodded silently.
"So, is that Zamasu guy even more powerful than Lord Beerus?" Goku asked excitedly.
"No! But from what the Supreme Kai said... our fusion might have already surpassed Lord Beerus," Vegeta mused. "I'm talking about the Super Saiyan Blue fusion."
"Our fusion has already surpassed Lord Beerus?" Goku was excited again, even wanting to fuse with Vegeta right then and there to challenge Beerus.
Vegeta: "..." That excited expression of yours is really a bit much.
"Hmph, I would never fuse with you. You'd better give up on that idea, Kakarot!" Vegeta barked angrily.
"Haha, just kidding. Unless it's absolutely necessary, I won't fuse with you," Goku laughed.
Vegeta: "..."
"Finally, what happened to that Zamasu guy?" Goku asked again.
"The you from my world used internalized Super Saiyan Blue to defeat the fused Zamasu," Vegeta said in a low voice, a vein popping on his forehead as he spoke.
"Eh? So, you learned that internalized Super Saiyan Blue from the me of another world?" Goku realized suddenly.
Vegeta: "..." He felt a sharp sting in his heart. I shouldn't have been so detailed!
"That's not the point!" Vegeta said with a dark face.
"Actually, it's nothing. It's just like how our current world is different from both of our previous lives," Goku said, quickly understanding and not minding at all. "If the Krillin of this world were reincarnated and returned to the previous world, they'd feel the same way."
Vegeta was speechless. What you're saying actually makes a lot of sense.
"What happened to Zamasu in the end? Was he eliminated?" Goku asked again.
Vegeta: "..."
"You guy, you're always interrupting!" Vegeta shouted angrily, his face dark.
Goku quickly covered his mouth.
"Your internalized Super Saiyan Blue could indeed defeat the fused Zamasu," Vegeta glared at Goku and continued. "However, even though you defeated that fused Zamasu, many, many more Zamasus used a time machine to come to that timeline!"
"Many, many Zamasus? Were they all fused?" Goku was stunned.
Vegeta nodded silently.
"How many were there?" Goku asked in shock.
"At least several thousand," Vegeta's voice grew lower. "That's when I died."
Goku: "..."
"If there were that many fused Zamasus... I'd probably die of exhaustion," Goku took a sharp breath and couldn't help but shudder.
Vegeta suddenly felt much better. So Kakarot has moments of fear too.
"That guy who swapped bodies with me is truly detestable!" Goku gritted his teeth.
"But in this life, it should still be a long way off from that kind of thing," Vegeta shook his head gently. "At least ten years from now."
"You're right," Goku nodded, agreeing.
"According to the original historical timeline, in about seven years, Majin Buu will be born," Vegeta said calmly, suddenly looking up at Goku.
Goku looked at Vegeta curiously, not understanding the look in his eyes.
"Kakarot, is your strongest transformation currently that Super Saiyan 4?" Vegeta asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Ah... well... y-yes," Goku answered guiltily.
"Hmph, you must have a transformation even stronger than Super Saiyan 4, right?" Vegeta knew Goku too well and could tell he was lying.
"Ah... there's also Super Saiyan 4 Full Power!" Goku scratched his head and answered quickly.
"That explains it. No wonder you could defeat Broly," Vegeta said, having expected as much.
"That was only by using a sneak attack to knock him out. It's actually quite a struggle to really fight him," Goku laughed.
"Transform into that Super Saiyan 4 Full Power and let me see," Vegeta stared at Goku seriously, a look of anticipation in his eyes.
"Transform here?" Goku looked around.
"You can rest assured, I won't be so foolish as to fight you. I know there's still a huge gap between us," Vegeta snorted with a self-deprecating smile.
"I didn't mean it like that," Goku waved his hand, his expression becoming more serious. "Alright, I'll transform!"
FLASH!
Goku's body rapidly changed. In the blink of an eye, he had activated his Super Saiyan 4 form. Then, a layer of red aura appeared on his body, and his hair turned a dark crimson.
Super Saiyan 4 Full Power!
"Vegeta, does this transformation of mine look like your Super Saiyan God?" Goku asked with a smile.
Vegeta: "..." What the hell do you mean Super Saiyan God! You don't have even a hint of divine Ki!
"Is this your full strength?" Vegeta silently focused his senses, his heart filled with shock. Sure enough, this guy's energy intensity has already surpassed Broly's. No wonder Broly was no match for him. It seems the gap between Kakarot and me is still quite large.
"Y-yes," Goku answered hurriedly, fearing that a delay would arouse Vegeta's suspicion.
Goku really didn't want to discourage Vegeta any further. If he told him he also had a Super Saiyan 5 transformation, who knew what the consequences would be? Would it crush Vegeta so much that he'd never find joy in fighting again? It was better to use Super Saiyan 4 Full Power as a comparison; that way, Vegeta would feel there was still hope of catching up.
FLASH!
Goku immediately returned to his normal state and looked at Vegeta seriously. "Actually, Vegeta, that Super Saiyan God of yours is truly remarkable... I was even thinking, if I could combine my Super Saiyan 4 with Super Saiyan God, would it be even more powerful?"
Vegeta's pupils shrank slightly. Your ideas are certainly unique! You want to increase your energy while also increasing your divine power. You're dreaming! Do you want to have all the good things for yourself?
"Hmph, that's absolutely impossible. Since you've already pushed your energy so high, it would be quite difficult to cultivate divine power," Vegeta snorted and rolled his eyes at Goku.
"Vegeta, actually, turning into a Super Saiyan 4 isn't that hard," Goku said truthfully. "You just need..."
"You don't need to tell me that. I'm not interested in your Super Saiyan 4," Vegeta decisively interrupted Goku.
Since Super Saiyan 4 was Goku's unique transformation, Vegeta naturally wouldn't follow his path. Moreover, Vegeta's ultimate goal was to achieve true Ultra Instinct. What was Super Saiyan 4 compared to that? There was likely no comparison. So Vegeta had no interest in Goku's Super Saiyan 4 and didn't want to hear more. If he listened and couldn't resist trying it, he felt it would only mess up his training progress. It was better to honestly continue training on the basis of Super Saiyan Blue. Vegeta felt he was close to breaking through to a new realm.
"Eh? You're not interested?" Goku scratched his head, a forced smile on his face. "I was thinking of having you try turning into this form too."
"Hmph," Vegeta snorted, not responding.
"So, how do you transform into that Super Saiyan God?" Goku asked, his interest suddenly piqued.
Vegeta: "..." You're certainly thick-skinned! I meant I won't learn your Super Saiyan 4, and you shouldn't learn my Super Saiyan God. And yet you're asking...
"The Super Saiyan God transformation has some similarities to the initial Super Saiyan transformation," Vegeta explained calmly. "But unlike Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan God requires one to soothe their state of mind and become more peaceful under conditions of extreme rage!"
"Is it that simple?" Goku was amazed. "Wait a second, let me try!"
With that, Goku began to attempt the Super Saiyan God transformation.
Vegeta's mouth wouldn't stop twitching. Are you serious? What do you mean! It took Trunks several months to learn this transformation. And you're just going to 'try'... that's really too much.
Goku closed his eyes, clenched his fists, and began to attempt the Super Saiyan God transformation according to what Vegeta had said.
Time passed second by second.
Vegeta's pupils suddenly shrank violently. He looked at Goku in shock, his mouth hanging open. Just now, Vegeta had clearly felt a trace of divine power emerging from Goku. Although it was only a tiny bit, it was enough to shock Vegeta. The issue was that Kakarot had always been training with powerful energy, which had nothing to do with divine power. And yet, in just a moment—about two minutes—he had cultivated divine power?
This guy really is a genius! No matter which world or timeline he's from... Vegeta thought with deep emotion.
"It's not working... it feels so hard..." Goku opened his eyes and shook his head in disappointment. "Maybe I haven't found the right way. I'll try again slowly when I have time."
Vegeta: "..." You call that not finding the right way? I clearly sensed your divine power.
"That's the way. If you continue training according to that method, you'll be able to turn into a Super Saiyan God," Vegeta said, having no intention of hiding the truth.
"Thank you, Vegeta," Goku thanked him hurriedly, then asked pointedly, "Are you sure you don't want to hear how to turn into a Super Saiyan 4? It's actually very simple, much simpler than the Super Saiyan God transformation."
"Kakarot, let me tell you the truth: God is the ultimate evolutionary path for Saiyans," Vegeta snorted, his expression calm.
"God?" Goku silently pondered the deep meaning of that word.
"In seven years, Majin Buu will appear..." Vegeta mused.
"Yeah, but compared to us now, Majin Buu's strength is a bit lacking," Goku nodded, not particularly concerned about Majin Buu. He then smiled. "Actually, what I'm looking forward to more is meeting Lord Beerus soon. According to what you said, Lord Beerus will come to Earth about two or three years after the Majin Buu incident, right?"
"Hmph, I don't know if the Beerus of this world will come to Earth, but you'd better not get your hopes up," Vegeta snorted.
"Do you think with my current strength, I'm still no match for Lord Beerus?" Goku asked.
"I don't know!" Vegeta shook his head. "At least the full strength you just showed is still a long way off from Super Saiyan Blue Vegito."
"Is that so?" Goku nodded thoughtfully. But thinking it over, he felt Vegeta was right. That was Vegito! In his previous life, his fusion with Vegeta could easily crush the Majin Buu who had absorbed Gohan. From that, one could see just how strong Super Saiyan Blue Vegito would be! It seems I still need to work hard!
"Kakarot! How do you plan to handle the Buu incident in seven years?" Vegeta asked. "Will you let that Satan guy continue to save the world?"
"Haha, yeah, yeah," Goku laughed and nodded readily.
"I don't care about other things, but in seven years, I will challenge you again!" Vegeta clenched his right fist, looking at Goku with anticipation.
"Alright, I'll be waiting for you, Vegeta!" Goku's expression became more solemn and serious.
"Hmph, you're much more mature than the Kakarot of my world!" Vegeta's mouth curled into a smile. He felt that if he had said the same thing to the Kakarot of his previous life, that Kakarot would probably have said, "Eh? Why wait so long to challenge me?" In comparison, Vegeta felt the Kakarot of this world was at least less annoying.
"I'm off. Train hard," Vegeta said, then took flight.
Goku watched Vegeta's departing figure with a smile. Vegeta, you'd better train hard. I'm still waiting to try fusing into Vegito with you.
Once Vegeta was out of sight, Goku focused his senses and found that Gohan had already gone home.
WHOOSH!
Goku used Instant Transmission and returned to his home on Mount Paozu.
"Goku, are you alright?" Chi-Chi ran over and threw herself into Goku's arms. Gohan scratched his head nearby, feeling a bit embarrassed. Dad, Mom, being this affectionate in front of me... I'm blushing.
"Chi-Chi, what's wrong?" Goku asked with concern.
"I... I just used a test strip... I'm pregnant," Chi-Chi said softly.
"Pregnant?" Goku scratched his head.
"I had a nightmare at noon. I dreamed you fought Cell and never came back... and then I was a widow for seven years... until I finally met you, who had returned from heaven for a single day," Chi-Chi said, tears starting to fall.
Goku grimaced, feeling guilty. Isn't that what happened in my previous life? Chi-Chi actually dreamed about it.
"Wait a second... pregnant? You're not having Goten, are you?" Goku suddenly realized.
"Eh? Goku, how can you calculate it like that? I should be about a month pregnant. How could you tell in five days?" Chi-Chi laughed. "How are you still so silly? Aren't you already a father?"
Goku: "..." The 'Goten' I'm talking about seems a bit different from the 'five days' you're talking about.
"Gohan, in a while, you're going to be an older brother," Chi-Chi said, rubbing Gohan's head. Gohan was excited and gave an embarrassed smile.
"Hurry up and get ready for dinner," Chi-Chi said, humming as she went to get busy. To Chi-Chi, being pregnant with a new child was a very happy thing.
"Dad, is Mom pregnant with my brother Goten?" Gohan asked with anticipation. In his previous life, Gohan had felt too lonely. His only companion was Trunks. He hadn't expected to have a brother in this life!
"If nothing goes wrong, it should be Goten," Goku said, his head hurting a bit. If it wasn't Goten, he wouldn't know how the story would proceed.
"Don't say that, Dad... nothing can go wrong with this kind of thing," Gohan's mouth twitched.
They chatted for a while.
"Gohan, your Beast Form is truly remarkable," Goku praised Gohan again. "You saw that vision come true."
"It's thanks to the help of you and Uncle Piccolo that I could transform into the Beast Form," Gohan grinned.
"Don't say that," Goku rubbed Gohan's head. "I think only Gohan could turn into this form. At least I can't."
"What are you saying, Dad?" Gohan wiped some sweat. "Your Super Saiyan 4 Full Power is very strong."
"That... haha, my Super Saiyan 4 Full Power might not be able to beat Gohan's Beast Form!" Goku laughed. "Gohan, you've already surpassed me."
"I don't think so," Gohan said, having some self-awareness. "Do you have a new transformation, Dad?"
"You could tell, Gohan?" Goku was amazed.
"I knew it," Gohan said with emotion. "Is it Super Saiyan 5?"
Goku nodded gently.
"When can I see it?" Gohan asked excitedly.
"I'll take you to the Sacred World of the Kai to see it when we have time," Goku smiled.
"Alright, Dad," Gohan nodded happily, then whispered, "Dad... Trunks is returning to the future in a couple of days. I want to go with him to see the future world."
"Right, you should go to the future world to see your old friends," Goku didn't object.
...
Capsule Corp Headquarters.
Vegeta also returned home.
"Father, you and Mr. Goku..." Trunks looked worried, but seeing that his father wasn't injured, he finally felt relieved. He had sensed an aura from Goku earlier that was even stronger than Broly's. Mr. Goku was just too strong. Father's pride must have taken a serious hit, right?
"I'm fine," Vegeta said flatly.
Seeing that his father's mind hadn't collapsed, Trunks let out a long sigh of relief. Sure enough, the Father of this world has a much stronger mindset than the Father of my world.
"When do you plan to return to the future?" Vegeta asked casually.
"I'm leaving tomorrow," Trunks replied, adding, "Master Gohan said he wants to go back with me."
"Gohan?" Vegeta was stunned, not quite understanding why Gohan wanted to go back.
"He said he wants to go back to see old friends," Trunks explained.
"Whatever," Vegeta wasn't very concerned about Gohan. Although Gohan had become very strong, Vegeta's ultimate goal was still to surpass Kakarot.
That day, Vegeta re-entered the gravity chamber and trained for several hours before coming out for dinner. After leaving the gravity chamber, he specifically sought out Bulma.
"Eh? You want me to prepare a feast? The more unique the food, the better? You're hosting a very precious guest?" Bulma was a bit confused but readily agreed.
