The palace, silent for days, stirred to life again. Servants moved swiftly through corridors, the guards stood straighter at their posts and the great banners of the empire were unfurled along the walls of the Audience Hall.
Word had spread quickly around the Kingdom. The Emperor would receive the Lords, and everyone knew why. And everyone couldn't wait to hear the outcome.
The hall itself was immense, designed to make any man feel small beneath the authority of the throne. It was originally a place for commoners to come, if there were important complaints to be made or judgement to be claimed.
But Damon chose it today for this noble meeting. Solely, because he wanted to remind his Lords who was in charge.
