Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 : Yu Yuanzhen as a Father

The video continues to play, showing the emotional struggle within the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect. Although the servant woman did not finish her sentence, Yu Yuanzhen understood exactly what she meant. He looked at Yu Xiaogang with a face full of heartache and reached out, wanting to touch his child who seemed cursed by fate.

As his palm touched Yu Xiaogang's soft little hand inside the swaddling clothes, Yu Yuanzhen fell into a deep silence for a moment. Finally, he took a deep breath and told the woman to make sure she took the best possible care of his son.

Afterward, Yu Yuanzhen moved with incredible speed to arrange the affairs of the sect. He distributed his duties as Sect Master among several Elders so he could focus on what mattered most. Once these tasks were finished, Yu Yuanzhen personally took Yu Xiaogang away from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect. He traveled to various places across the Douluo Continent to seek medical treatment, desperately hoping to find a cure for his son's condition.

He did not know how many doctors or experts he had sought out, but he never gave up. Finally, Yu Yuanzhen received an answer from the Ye Family, who were famous for inheriting the Nine-Hearted Flowering Crabapple Spirit. The Head of the Ye Family looked at the child carefully and gave a diagnosis.

"This child possesses astonishing spiritual power," the Head of the Ye Family explained. "But unfortunately, his brain is not mature enough to carry such a massive amount of power. That is why he is in this dazed state. Take him back and raise him well. If he can eventually recover his wits and awaken a spiritual-type Spirit, his future achievements will likely be extraordinary. However, Sect Master Yu, it is best not to hold too much hope. After all, recovering one's mind in a situation like this is far too difficult."

The words from the Head of the Ye Family made Yu Yuanzhen's expression turn grim and heavy. He thanked them for their honesty and led his party back to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect. When they returned, he informed the Elders of the diagnosis. Upon hearing that the child was likely a permanent fool, the Elders immediately had thoughts of giving up on Yu Xiaogang.

Some Elders were very blunt, even advising Yu Yuanzhen to send Yu Xiaogang away from the sect while his feelings for the boy were still shallow. They argued that if the child were sent far away where he couldn't be seen, Yu Yuanzhen wouldn't feel so troubled anymore.

In the Black World, inside Spirit Hall, Bibi Dong watched this with fire in her eyes. "Hmph, how snobbish," she muttered with a look of pure disgust. "The Elders of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect in our world were all smiles at first because Yu Xiaogang was the son of a Titled Douluo. But as soon as the Spirit Awakening showed his talent was poor, they immediately changed their faces and treated him like trash. In this parallel world, they are even more direct, wanting to throw him away from the very start. With a bunch of vermin like you around, it is no wonder Yu Xiaogang's life was so miserable !" She looked at the faces of the Elders on the screen, wishing she could punish every single one of those old men.

At the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, Ning Fengzhi watched with an unreadable expression. "Such actions are indeed consistent with the ways of a great family," he said calmly. As the Sect Master of his own school, he had seen many families cast aside those who were seen as useless. He wouldn't judge if it was right or wrong from a business perspective. But considering what he knew of Yu Xiaogang's potential, he looked curious.

"Perhaps we will see that old dragon weeping with regret later on," the Bone Douluo, Gu Rong, laughed heartily. He looked at the screen with great anticipation.

The video continued...

To the surprise of everyone in the sect, Yu Yuanzhen firmly rejected the Elders' proposal. "Yu Xiaogang is my son," he declared, his voice full of authority. "This fact remains the same regardless of his condition. Since he lives with me, it is no trouble at all for me to assign people to care for him. Therefore, do not mention the matter of sending him away ever again."

With a sharp wave of his hand, Yu Yuanzhen decided Yu Xiaogang's fate. Unbeknownst to anyone during this heated argument, a small spark of intelligence flashed in Yu Xiaogang's vacant eyes for just a second.

Afterward, time passed day by day, and Yu Xiaogang slowly grew older. He still hadn't recovered his wits, maintaining a dull and foolish appearance. He would often sit alone by the flower bed outside his house, staring blankly at the distant mountains or the clouds in the sky. Whenever this happened, a warm, large hand would always come to rest gently on Yu Xiaogang's head. The firm palm made Yu Xiaogang feel incredibly secure.

The owner of that hand was his father, Yu Yuanzhen. Even though his son seemed to have no future, he never once looked down on him or showed him any less love. He would often find time to sit by Yu Xiaogang's side after finishing his daily cultivation and sect business. He would tell his silent son all about the Douluo Continent. Sometimes he told interesting stories, sometimes he taught him necessary knowledge about Spirits, and sometimes he just talked about what had happened that day.

His voice was always steady and slow, as if he were afraid that if he spoke too fast, Yu Xiaogang wouldn't be able to keep up. It was like this every single day, without fail.

In the White World, Bibi Dong felt a pang of sadness in her heart as she watched the screen. "Father..." she whispered. At that time, Yu Yuanzhen had no idea that Yu Xiaogang would ever get better, and he certainly didn't know he would become a Titled Douluo. His kindness was purely the love of a father for his son. Even ordinary families might not be that patient, but Yu Yuanzhen was a man at the peak of the world, and yet he spent his time sitting with a child who couldn't even speak.

"That is why I never wanted to disappoint Father," the real Yu Xiaogang said softly in the hall. He explained that even though he looked foolish back then, his adult mind was aware of everything. He just couldn't control his body yet. He could feel every bit of care and love his father gave him. Before transmigrating, Yu Xiaogang was an orphan who had never felt the love of a parent. Yu Yuanzhen's devotion was what finally gave him a reason to belong in this new world. He understood that he was no longer alone.

In the Black World, the other Yu Xiaogang stared at the screen with a blank look. He saw the gentle expression on his father's face and wondered when he had last seen it. He remembered his father being caring before his Spirit Awakening, but back then, he was the genius heir, so he thought he deserved the attention. After the awakening failed, he never bothered to look at his father's face again, only focusing on his own misery. He realized now that he had never noticed when his father's pride turned into disgust.

The video continues...

With Yu Yuanzhen's constant presence, Yu Xiaogang reached five years of age. In less than a year, he would have his Martial Soul Awakening. However, he still remained in that dull state. Countless people mocked Yu Yuanzhen, laughing behind his back that a Titled Douluo had fathered a fool. Yu Yuanzhen ignored them all.

One day, while Yu Yuanzhen was telling his son about two geniuses from the Clear Sky Sect, something happened.

"Father..."

A small, clear voice sounded in his ear. Yu Yuanzhen froze in shock. He looked down and saw that his son's eyes, which had been empty for years, were now bright and full of life.
