Chapter 2 - 2 Awakening

Zhang Tianwen stepped forward and placed his palm on the Awakening Stone.

The moment his skin made contact, a faint tremor passed through his body, as if something deep within him had been disturbed.

Outside the Awakening Hall, nothing happened.

The instructor remained expressionless. The elders watched in silence .To everyone present, Zhang Tianwen's awakening was just ordinary.

But inside—

It was a total chaos.

His consciousness was dragged inward, plunging into a boundless darkness. In that instant, his body and soul separated by an invisible barrier—were forced together.

This was the true Awakening.

At fifteen, the body and soul finally stabilized enough to endure the fusion. Only after this step could one truly walk the path of cultivation.

From the depths of his soul sea, something stirred.

A Ka.

Then—

Another ka.

His consciousness froze.

Then he actually realized that he was actually born with 3 nascent's and 2 natural ka's.

All cultivators awakened one Ka. Two was unheard of .For cultivators their own original ka is very important .

There are 2 reasons for why zhang tianwen is so shocked, firstly original ka's improve their rank without any external influence when one advance to next rank. One can obtain ka's in many ways, they can be born with it, they can kill others and steal their ka, they can use special methods to make beasts produce ka's then kill them to take it ,he also heard that there are many immortal methods too. But for ka's other than natural if we want to improve them to next rank its almost too hard, the process needs a lot of money and the success rate is as low as 0.5% .

Secondly all the people in this world have 2 nascents in their body ,although he don't know completely about them, it is said that nascent's equal to life. There are 2 life's for all people ,one is when they are born and one is after they are awakened. This is very important because maximum ka's anyone can have is equal to number of nascents of a person that is only 2 for each rank .

Which means rank 1 cultivators can have at most 2 ka's, the one which they are born with and another ka, that same cultivator after becoming rank 2 will have 4 ka's which includes his original ka which became rank 2, another rank 2 ka and 2 more rank 1 kas, similarly it was said that even rank 9 immortal lords only have 18 ka's ,2 for each rank.

And now he a rank one nobody actually has 2 original ka's and 3 nascents, there is definitely something wrong here. Before he could understand what's happening his ka's completely developed.

The first Ka slowly revealed itself, its form simple yet profound. A thumb-sized, pale crystalline node was fused into the root of his lower dantian, its surface threaded with hair-fine meridian veins and a single dark core that pulsed in perfect rhythm with his heartbeat. He felt that it could not be removed without tearing out the pathways of his essence and his life along with it—yet once carved free from a corpse, it would harden into a cold, ownerless relic others could refine.

Soul Rewind Ka.

Information poured into his mind, like a tide. This Ka allowed him to mark a point in time as a trigger. In the future, upon death, his soul would rewind to that marked moment, carrying his memories intact back to the past.

Its almost like a resurrection.

No—something even more terrifying.

A do-over.

This ka did have its restrictions. At Rank 1 cultivation he has one chance to use this ka, if used he will lose that chance forever, at rank 2 he will gain another new chance, if he did not use the previous chance he will have 2 chances, similarly after reaching rank 3 he will gain another chance and so on and so until rank 9 where he can have a maximum of 9 chances if he did not use any previous chances. If he uses it once he will lose one chance permanently. If his cultivation stagnated, so would this Ka and the number of chances available to use this ka.

At rank 1 because his cultivation is weak he cant inherit complete memories, only few ,which should be a few days before the death, even this restriction vanishes as his cultivation increase , although he did not know when.

Before Zhang Tianwen could even process the implications, the second Ka awakened.

Space Pause Ka.

When activated, it could freeze space ,a person of same rank or a small area for a 2 or 3 seconds . Only 2 or 3 seconds and it would also drain him his physical energy, making him weak a little.

At Rank 1, that was all.

No further information surfaced. No explanation. No instinctive understanding beyond its most basic function. He did not understand why for one ka he can understand everything and for other nothing but the basic details are known ,even those basic information felt like he perceived . He felt that there was nothing wrong with this ka ,but comparing both he clearly felt that soul rewind ka has some problems. It felt like an external intervention, like someone else helped him or someone trying to lure him into their schemes .

Silence followed.

Two Kas.

One completely abnormal, other one too is a special space related ka ,which in itself is also rare.

His thoughts raced.

This is not luck.

This is just too much.

Was it a coincidence? A mutation? Maybe because he was reborn after death? Or had someone—arranged this from the shadows?

Countless thoughts raced through his mind, but none of them brought him any peace.

External intervention. This phrase couldn't help but surface in his mind. Had someone tampered with his awakening? Was this the work of an elder? Some ancient inheritance? Or something far older?

The idea should have terrified him. And it did.

Yet—

Beneath the fear, a spark ignited.

His breathing quickened.

He had dreamed of this.

Not just awakening.

Not just becoming another cultivator in the Zhang family hierarchy.

He had dreamed of overturning everything.

Of refusing to remain ordinary.

And now—He saw this as an opportunity .The very thing he had wanted.

His lips slowly curled upward in the void.

If someone had intervened, then they had invested in him. And if they had schemes, then he should learn to outplay them.

Excitement surged through him like wildfire.

To rewind.

To correct mistakes.

To reattempt paths others only walked once.

The implications were almost terrifying.

Outside, the Awakening Stone dimmed.

The instructor nodded, recording his result with almost a mechanical indifference. To them, Zhang Tianwen was just another Rank 1 awakener—nothing special.

Tianwen withdrew his hand and stepped back into the line.
