The grass on King Kai's Planet was bright green, and the air was fresh.
Aside from the heavier gravity, it was a pleasant place to live.
Goku was still struggling under the ten-times gravity, wobbling around like a duck learning to walk.
Meanwhile, Krillin had already begun his warm-up exercises.
He stretched and performed chest expansions with movements as precise as a professional trainer, showing no discomfort at all from the increased gravity.
"One, two, three, four, two, two, three, four..."
As he exercised, Krillin observed the small planet.
There were only a few trees, a circular road, and a red vintage convertible.
"Krillin, I remember that joke now," Goku walked over, sweating heavily, his expression tense as if he were carrying a bomb instead of a joke.
"But it's really lame. Why didn't that elephant bring any paper?"
"Don't ask why. It's art," Krillin answered with a straight face.
"Remember, your expression must be serious and your tone sincere. That's the essence of a dad joke."
Just then, the door of the small dome-shaped house opened.
A short, round blue figure walked out.
He wore sunglasses, had two antennae on his head, and was dressed in a black robe while holding a broom.
North King Kai.
He first glanced at Bubbles hopping around nearby, then noticed the two unexpected visitors.
"Well, well, rare guests," King Kai pushed up his sunglasses, his voice carrying a playful tone.
"You actually managed to run all the way across Snake Way to get here. Looks like old King Yemma didn't misjudge you this time."
"Lord King Kai!" Goku immediately stood straight, although his legs were still trembling.
"I'm Son Goku, and this is Krillin! We came to learn martial arts from you so we can defeat the Saiyans who will invade Earth in one year!"
"Saiyans?" King Kai placed his hands behind his back and walked around them once.
"Hmm. That really is a serious problem. But becoming my disciples won't be easy."
He suddenly leaned closer to Goku, his sunglasses reflecting a strange glint.
"Do you know any jokes?"
"Huh?" Goku froze. Krillin had been right.
"It's usually very boring here. Other than Bubbles, I don't even have anyone to talk to."
King Kai sighed, looking extremely lonely.
"If you want me to teach you, you must first make me laugh. If you can't even do that, how can you save the world?"
The logic somehow made perfect sense.
"I'll go first!" Krillin raised his hand and stepped forward confidently.
King Kai crossed his arms and examined him carefully.
"Bald kid, you look cheerful enough. I hope your joke isn't too lame."
Krillin cleared his throat and spoke seriously.
"Once upon a time, a little white rabbit got lost in the forest. It reached a fork in the road and met a little gray rabbit. It asked, 'Brother Gray Rabbit, I'm lost. Can you tell me how to get home?'"
King Kai leaned forward slightly, his antennae twitching.
"The little gray rabbit looked it up and down and said with a mischievous grin, 'Want to know the way? Then you have to make me happy first.'"
Krillin winked slightly as his tone became suggestive.
King Kai's mouth twitched as he sensed what was coming.
"The little white rabbit had no choice but to agree. After that, the gray rabbit pointed to the left path. Soon after, the little white rabbit reached another fork and met a little black rabbit."
Krillin paused briefly before continuing.
"The little black rabbit made the same request, saying, 'Want to know the way? Then you have to make me happy first.'
To get home, the little white rabbit agreed again with tears in its eyes and continued along the left path."
"And then?" King Kai asked instinctively.
"Then the little white rabbit finally made it home. Not long afterward, it gave birth to a litter of baby rabbits."
Krillin looked directly at King Kai.
"Lord King Kai, what color do you think the baby rabbits were?"
King Kai frowned thoughtfully.
"Gray? Black? Mixed colors?"
"Do you want to know?" Krillin suddenly smiled mischievously and pointed at himself.
"Then you have to make me happy first."
Silence filled the air.
Three seconds later, King Kai burst into laughter.
He clutched his stomach and rolled across the grass, his sunglasses slipping crookedly as he kicked his legs wildly.
"I can't take it! 'Make me happy!' You little rascal! That joke has flavor! You pass!"
Krillin shrugged and stepped aside, giving Goku a signal.
Goku took a deep breath.
Although he still didn't fully understand the joke, he knew it was his turn.
"Lord King Kai, I also have a story about a rabbit."
"Oh?" King Kai slowly stood up and rubbed his stomach.
"Go ahead. Don't disappoint me."
Goku widened his eyes and spoke as seriously as if reporting military intelligence.
"One day, an elephant was taking a dump in the forest."
King Kai froze immediately.
"After finishing, the elephant realized it didn't have any paper. Nearby, there was a little white rabbit eating grass."
Goku gestured while speaking.
"The elephant asked it, 'Little white rabbit, do you shed?' The little white rabbit shook its head and said, 'No.' So the elephant grabbed the little white rabbit, wiped its butt with it, threw it away, and left."
King Kai's mouth twitched.
"The next day, the elephant was eating and got oil all over its mouth and hands. Again, it didn't have any paper. This time it saw a little gray rabbit and asked the same question.
The gray rabbit also said no. The elephant happily grabbed the little gray rabbit and wiped its mouth."
Goku paused before continuing with a resentful tone.
"Then the little gray rabbit said, 'Big brother, I'm the little white rabbit you used to wipe your butt yesterday.'"
King Kai burst into uncontrollable laughter again.
This time he laughed even harder, bouncing across the grass while clutching his stomach.
"It changed color! It actually changed color! That elephant is too wicked!"
He laughed until he collapsed flat on the ground, gasping for air.
"Too brilliant... I haven't laughed this hard in centuries..."
King Kai raised his hand weakly and gave them a thumbs-up.
"You two are geniuses."
Goku scratched his head and looked at Krillin.
"He's laughing so hard. Was it really that funny?"
"That's the power of humor," Krillin answered seriously.
"Alright, alright, get up."
King Kai finally stood up again and adjusted his robe and sunglasses.
Although tears still lingered at the corners of his eyes, his expression became slightly more serious.
"You passed the test. Starting today, you are my disciples."
A notification appeared in Krillin's System panel.
[Successfully apprenticed under King Kai. Achievement unlocked: Ticket of Laughter.
Reward obtained: Qualification to learn Kaioken. Qualification to learn Spirit Bomb.
Current combat power: 600.]
Krillin looked at the panel with satisfaction.
This trip had not been wasted. Not only had he helped Goku begin training, but he also gained access to two extremely powerful techniques himself.
"However..."
King Kai adjusted his sunglasses and looked at both of them carefully.
"If you want to learn from me, you must be prepared to endure hardship. Especially you, Krillin. I can sense incredible power inside you, but your techniques are still rough.
And you, Goku. Your physical foundation is good, but under this gravity it still isn't enough. First, you must catch Bubbles."
King Kai pointed toward the monkey making faces at them from a nearby tree.
"Catch the monkey? That looks fun!" Goku immediately became excited.
Krillin smiled slightly and released part of the limiter on his gravity bracelet. A trace of his suppressed aura leaked out.
"Then let's begin, Lord King Kai. Our time is very precious."
