Chapter 8 - Leaving

"Who are you?"

"The system agent assigned to you only, as you're quite unique."

"Why?"

"If you went into the reformed Earth with the before mentioned takeaways, you'd be too powerful and placing you later in the stages would be unfair to you"

"I don't think I'm that powerful"

"Please check your status"

I did as told

After the agent notices I read over everything

"Does that not sound a tad too overpowered,

I nodded

"Yes, it seems that I've gotten quite strong"

"Thus after discussing with the other agenst I decided to take away some stuff, you'll be compensated part of your compensation at a time"

"Is it possible to seal instead"

"No"

"Okay"

Thus I moved back to the panel

"So what'll change?"

"Your mana'll drop to 5000, you lose your traits, except 'blessed by the craftsman spirits', you lose most of your stats, you retain your knowledge though."

I nodded and the agent snapped his fingers and I felt my strength leaving my body

Return to your world]

An all-dominating feeling of weakness washed over me, so much so that I collapsed and it took me a while to get back to normal.

"I must say, this list got shorter, can I regain everything?"

"Not as it was before."

"Could you elaborate?"

"In this wish granting space you can get skills just by doing stuff, in the outside world you get up to 10 skills and that's what you're stuck with"

"It shows that I have none right now."

"You'll get some randomly, your previous experiences have a weak influence towards what you may get."

"Can I get more?"

"No"

"Then can I take anything with me from my wish granding space?"

"No"

I stared at the flat plane called the system agent's face

"Why?"

"You made scizzors that can cut reality, a saw that can tear through a timeline, a bomb that cracked indestructable walls, those being your most ordinary impressive creations"

"What about my 'Ultra deluxe ulitmate extraordinary craftsmans' workshop complex 9000TM', or 'The Stick', or that one coin I inbued with a lot of luck."

"The first item literally spawns a complex with every workshop you need, 'The Stick' can turn into a sword that can destroy gods permanently and that coin has enough luck imbued in it that it will mess up with everything related to karma"

"Then can I get the-

"No, it will ruin the balance, you get nothing"

"Would saying 'please' or begging while kneeling before you change anything?"

"Would you like to get no skills, at all?"

I aptly shut up'

Then the agent spoke up again

"Next, time to decide what skills you get"

"How will that be decided?"

"You decide, so long as it is luck-based"

"Can I spin a wheel to decide that?"

A massive wheel appeared, I could barely read out some skills, there were fun ones, like 'Buddha fist' or 'Water ripple slash', but the individual area given per other skills was definitely smaller than compared to anything crafting related.

I can see why the agent said that my experiences have influence over may choices.

Then I noticed a tiny wheel, a dot compared to the big wheel, around my height, containing numbering from 1 to 10, of course with not equal spacing.

Numbers 5 and 6 had the most space, the others smaller and smaller, with 1 and 10 being the smallest.

The agent first pointed to the small wheel.

"Spin that first"

I did and I landed on 4, lower than average, but otherwise better than 3, I wanted that 10 though.

Before the agent spoke, I opened my mouth first

"Can I turn the other wheel into a slot machine, including dumping a bunch of money to start it rolling.

The massive wheel turned into a slot machine just like that and I got a bag of coins, which I aptly dumped into the slot machine, pulled a big stick and the symbols started rolling.

There were 4 wheels behind the screen.

All spinning beyong what my eye can track, tried sensing what each one constantly show through mana, but there is no mana I can sense here.

One by one the wheels stopped turning.

And I saw the skills: furnace body, spearmanship, intent imbuement, all language mastery.

And that's when shit hit the fan, as I cluched my head and collapsed on the floor, grunting in pain as I tried to surpess it.

At some point blood started to trickle down from my mouth, eyes, nose and ears as I felt my mind being pried open and certain memories just gouged out of it.

It hurt

It hurt a lot

This isn't like psychological or physical pain.

This is the kind of pain I've only experienced never before.

I can't compare it to anything else.

But more than the pain, the feeling of loosing memories about my prescious hard work hurt far more.

Any memories I had of anything related to these skills was gone.

There were still some memories left, but those were only the basics of basics.

I forgot most of all of the languages I learned, retaining all, but the basics, except english and german, my 2nd language, both of which I fully remember.

Intent imbuement is exactly as it sounds, I take my understanding of something and imbue it into whatever I craft it. Take it as the next level of engraving mystical symbols onto tools.

This is the most superior form of any sort of enchantement, because the better I understand what effect I want to grant the weapon, the stronger the effect that the weapon gains.

Thus it's a limitless art limited only by a combination of knowledge and understanding

Yet…I forgot how to imbue intent, except its most crudest form, manifesting a shit ton of elemental mana to grant the tool elemental properties.

It requires a lot of mana for even the slightest bit of effect and it pained me all the more, since the amount of work I put into mastering this art is in the centuries.

That invisible hand that is gouging out my memories also took a fair share of knowledge regarding the furnace body skill. It stripped away a good chunk of my human anatomy knowledge, a lot of my understanding of fires and heat…

It makes me want to scream at the agent for unfairness, the only thing restraining me is the fact that I know that I can do nothing.

Yet there was one benefit, the spearmanship skill.

I know nowthing over spearmanship, I gained knowledge in that aspect.

How to wield the combination of spear and shield, how to wield a long spear, how to wield a short spear, and so on, but only the basics, yet that was a good piece of knowledge that helped me to calm down.

Thanks to the spearmanship skill I viewed this whole thing as an unfair trade forced upon by a vastly stronger force.

Once the pain subsided, I shakily stood up, still cluching my head, my left side of the upper body soaked in my blood.

I felt as if I was experiencing a hangover to put it gently.

I felt as if I was experiencing a combo of splitting headache, loss of balance, a hangover, a burning sensatino from whatever blood vessels burst to put it more blundly.

Yet that feeling also dissapeared as I felt whatever wounds I had heal.

"Apologies, I didn't think you'd have that much knowledge regarding those aspects"

"Why did you take away my memories?"

"Because I did it, it is within the rules of what I must do upon acquiring skills this way."

"The give me back my knowledge, I don't need these skills."

"Request rejected, I clearly offered to grant you no skills."

"You didn't inform me of consequences."

"You didn't ask."

This time fury started to slowly rise

"Is that everything?"

"You also have a class now"

"So I can't even pick that now, how fair?" The sarcasm in my voice was evident

Regardless, I opened my status

The class is called craftsman, how neat, but one thing I noticed is that my traits were gone, not all, the blessed one still retained.

"Where are my other traits"

"For safety reasons they were removed, your sinner trait'd brand you as an enemy of your universe, meaning every'd try to kill you and anyone except other sinners without exception would view you as someone to kill"

"Yeah, that's the only bad one, what about the others?"

"You can't handle the 'weight' of those titles"

"'weight'?"

"I can't explain it any other way without divulging what I can't tell you?"

"Stingy"

I went back to my status and opened the description of my skills

I honestly want to say not bad…

But this Is kind of feels like breaking my legs and making the nerves in my legs wonky, then giving me assistance on how to walk again.

I just want to punch the bastard who did it.

….

"Do you wish to leave now?"

"I have questions, can I ask them?"

"Depends?"

"What will I have upon leaving here"

"Nothing, you will appear naked in a random place, the system will ensure that it is possible to survive for you in the place where you apear"

"Anything else I need to know?"

"Upon leaving, your status will get updated with the 'quests' tab, there will be missions displayed there if you get any"

"Can you clarify what you mean by 'possible to survive'?"

"There will be a source of water within 10km of where you'll apear, in the surrounding area there will be possible to find food, both in the form of edible plants or animals, the animals in question will not suprass level 10"

"Will there be a civilization where I appear?"

"You will appear in the reformed earth, if there will be any, they will be newly formed at best unless you truly seclude yourself for a long while"

"How many people will there be alongside me?"

"Around 5.2 billion, we've didn't let certain people go to the wish-granting space, specifically anyone bellow 4 years old and those who will die in less than 10 years from old age."

"We've also had to eliminate anyone who didn't complete their wish but still left in under a year since they were deemed to weak-willed to live."

"No more questions, I can go now"

With that I just appeared on the edge of a forest.

I looked around, I saw a river, at the other end there was a small beach, which led to the mountains, on my side of the rivers there was a lush forest, I could already see edible herbs by which I knew that it is currently the middle of spring.

The fun thing is that none of the species of flora I saw are native to Earth, similar at best though, I can only guess that mana did it's thing and transformed.

The other thing is the fauna, the only thing I spotted is the occasional bug…bug?

Shouldn't they come out at least in late spring?

Oh right… mana, that will be my explanation for a while I guess.
