Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven

Walking in the dim underground tunnel, was total silence as we both walked silently. Apparently there was a pathway to the tunnel in his throne room; I guess the coward built it for escaping. Maybe we were actually escaping currently, as I saw no reason for us to be walking through this pathway now.

"We created this tunnel back then to aid us when escaping from those ruffians who reside in the council "

Probably guessing what was on my mind , he voiced out, perhaps to clear any misconceptions. I thought he was angry at me?

"Even the great Kayden actually does flee when faced with an insurmountable opponent " I replied with spite laced over my tone; my intention was to try to rattle his mind before he went into battle.

"A great warrior knows when to fight and retreat. There is no use running to your death if it's futile" He said calmly as my intentions to anger him went down the drain.

"Hiding your cowardice in front of me is of no use. I know your type: bullies the weak and hides when faced with the strong." Still not relenting, I continued my motive, pushing his buttons as I tried to gauge when he snaps back at me.

"Then guess I have to show you that I bully both the weak and the strong"

He replied with a soft chuckle, probably amused at my words.

We once again fell into a bout of silence as I wasn't in the mood to debate with this malicious devil.

Kayden looked back at me, his face blank with no emotion. "The tunnel is no longer used for that purpose. As no being born of a woman can make me flee."

So cringe!! I almost died of shame wondering how someone so shameless could exist.

The more we walked, the growls of wolves sounded closer, the sounds of battle echoed above us, rattling the floor as the ground quaked from the aftershocks.

"Little princess, whether you or every other supernatural being likes it or not, this world will bend to me…come, let me show you what power looks like."Stopping at the stairways towards the surface, Kayden gazed at me as he arrogantly proclaimed that the world would bow to him. Arrogant bastard.

Back to the surface, I gazed at another hefty, human-like bodybuilder. His presence screamed of Wolf superiority, another alpha. He must be the Alpha of the Evermore pack; his battle prowess was prominent, as I had heard tales of him back when I was in the coven.

Standing at 6ft tall even without transforming into his werewolf form, his human form was already screaming unbound strength.

"I have been waiting for you… I almost thought you had fled."Thinking hard, I remembered his name was Rogers Evermore. The difference in physique between Rogers was prominent as Kayden was on the slender muscular type, with Rogers being on the heftier side.

"It seems your arrogance has finally got into your head, as your tracks were easily traced by me. What now, Kayden? Tired of hiding? Maybe your little success at massacring the covens has clouded your head… Come, let me show you why we wolves are superior".

I guess I completely hate all wolves now. Imagine his audacity at making a joke about our coven like literal people weren't slaughtered. I just wished possibly both of them would simply kill themselves, but with my luck, I knew the chances of it happening were low. Gazing back at Kayden, I saw he was still standing unbothered by another fellow Alpha; I guess he is really confident in himself.

"I just need some additional accomplishments to bolster my credibility, and I might be elected to join the council, becoming one of the elected beings in charge of ruling our world. And…"Gazing at Kayden with a smirk, Rogers started to morph slowly."Your head would begin my rise. Time to wipe out you scourge from our species," Rogers growled as he had transformed into a 10ft werewolf, furs gray with blue eyes.

"Come and accept your execution," Rogers said, his words a mixture of growls, his presence a constant reminder of the fact that our world was always going to be filled with selfish and egoistic people.

Kayden finally reacted as he looked back at me;

"let me show you why we wolves are superior…and…don't die."With a spine-shaking growl, Kayden transformed into his werewolf form, and oh boy, it was literally like the devil had descended. Skin dark like the abyss, eyes blood red, and the size? Well, it was standing at a colossal 15feet tall. The difference in presence was evident as Kayden's werewolf form screamed of bestiality in wolf clothing.

Roger, probably undeterred by his size, dashed at Kayden as both of them ran at full speed towards each other. Years of training kicked in as I quickly covered myself in a magical barrier as they both clashed.

The ground quaked, actually spilling apart, as my eardrums rattled from the sound of literal mountains clashing together, almost making me turn deaf. Despite my magical barrier, I was sent flying miles away as I crashed through literal trees, my magical barrier saving me from crippling myself.

Gazing up with difficulty, the difference in strength was pure evident as Roger had already lost one of his hands in their first clash. I could feel despair creeping in at the thought of how powerful my enemy was. My intuition kicked in, as I felt even without transforming into his wolf form, Rogers still probably didn't stand a chance of winning against Kayden.

"Grrrrrrrrr"

Kayden's growls echoed with delight as his eyes got darker as the scent of blood made him crazier. Rogers could feel panic creeping in as he could tell he wouldn't survive the next clash.

As an observer, it was pretty plain and obvious that the difference in strength between both wolves was miles apart. Just the size difference alone for pure physical species like them already gave Kayden a wide advantage, as Rogers humongous size looked too small in front of Kayden's catastrophic size. The fight was already over before it started as Kayden's claws glinted with red light as he literally bisected Rogers into two.

Rogers's howls of pain echoed in the air as he died gruesomely, probably feeling pangs of regret for overestimating himself. A lesson learned: never let your ambitions be greater than your strength. Kayden's strength had me rethinking my strategy, as it was clear that I wouldn't even last a second in a fight against him. I would most likely be beheaded before I even start registering the thought of casting a spell.

Standing up as I dusted myself, I could feel my instincts screaming danger. Looking up , I saw the 15ft wolf looking at me with his blood red eyes.

'Oh no!!' I screamed in my head as my magical and historical knowledge was already giving me an answer to my predicament. Kayden had gone berserk!! An Alpha losing himself to his inner beast was utterly disgraceful, but here I was locked onto by such a monster. When did I get so unlucky?
