Chapter 128 - Chapter 128: The New Seven

Vought International couldn't afford the risk of Homelander going out of control.

Therefore, someone had to take on this risk, and that's what Edgar did.

Introduce another Homelander.

Only superhumans could counterbalance other superhumans. It would be even better if they both suffered heavy losses in the struggle.

The most important thing in inhibitor research was time.

Jordan stood up and paused as he passed Edgar.

This action made the two bodyguards behind Edgar very nervous.

"Don't make things difficult for Starlight. She's still just a child."

Watching the figure in the black trench coat disappear, Edgar wiped his face with a sigh of relief.

In the face of superhuman beings who were like humanoid nuclear bombs, the power of ordinary people was useless.

Whatever. The original rules of the game have been completely turned into garbage.

Let them make a scene!

Vought Tower

" Joe, how did you do that?"

In the elevator leading to the command center, Starlight seemed somewhat excited.

Like a primary school student who got caught having a puppy love but whose father was a member of the school board—there was both the fear of being caught and the pride of having someone backing them up.

"It's such a pity you weren't there to see Ms. Madelyn's changing expressions. It was absolutely spectacular!"

"When she walked in, I felt like she was going to eat me alive, but after she answered a phone call, she actually smiled at me!"

"In the end, they just said a couple of light words to me and let me go."

"Oh my god, before we went, I thought we were definitely going to be stripped of our status as members of the Seven!"

Jordan pulled down his hat brim and explained. "I happen to know someone at Vought who can help us solve this problem."

"It's that simple?"

"It's that simple."

As they were talking, the elevator slowed down and then stopped.

The doors to the Seven's command center were wide open. The panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows that had been damaged by the Deep's fall had been repaired, and the broken screens in the center had been replaced.

Everything was brand new, as if nothing had ever happened.

Jordan and Starlight entered the hall, while Black Noir in his tactical armor sat quietly in a chair.

"Hi, Black Noir. Nice to meet you. I'm Starlight." Starlight hesitated for a moment, then pulled Jordan, who was looking around, closer. "This is the Flash. We're both new members of the Seven."

Black Noir raised his head, glanced at them, and then returned to his original sitting position, staring at the ground as if he were thinking about something.

Jordan didn't take it seriously and pulled up a chair to sit down. "Didn't you say the meeting was at ten o'clock? It's already 9:58. How come there are only four people here?"

"Four people?" Starlight gave him a "you're kidding me" look. "You should go back to school for a math refresher course. There are clearly only... you mean?"

"You're probably not a real fan of the Seven," Starlight instinctively covered her mouth, while Jordan looked at the load-bearing pillar on one side of the hall. "Someone better not show anything they shouldn't here. The last one who did that is still recovering."

The green plants beside the pillar trembled, and then the air became blurry, as if something transparent had moved out.

"I remember Translucent saying on The Tonight Show that his superpowers don't include his clothes disappearing along with his body..."

"Your memory is correct."

A series of crisp footsteps approached, and Queen Maeve, clad in leather armor, appeared at the doorway.

Her gaze swept over Jordan and Starlight before she walked on and quickly sat down in the seat opposite Black Noir.

"Isn't Homelander here? That's not like him."

Upon hearing the Queen's question, Black Noir shrugged and remained silent.

"Hello, Queen Maeve. I am—"

Starlight was a little reserved and wanted to introduce herself, but the Queen gestured with her eyes. "Sit down. There will be plenty of time to introduce yourself later."

She glanced at Starlight and said indifferently.

She didn't seem to care much about her new female teammate.

Unable to converse with the Queen, Starlight pouted and sat back down next to Jordan.

Among the seven familiar yet unfamiliar members, Jordan, whom she'd only recently met, was indeed the one who could give her the most sense of security.

Shortly after, Translucent in his suit walked in. He frowned when he saw Jordan, because that was his seat.

However, after what happened to the Deep, he was now a little unsure of what Jordan's background was.

The video of the Deep before the incident had been traced back to the Flash's account, and the fact that Jordan was still sitting here unharmed indicated that Vought's top management hadn't taken any further action.

Translucent didn't think he could withstand the electric shock from the cannon at Jordan's waist, so instead of taking the lead like his predecessor, he chose to sit opposite Jordan.

"Hey, new Lightning Boy. Can you see through my invisibility?"

Jordan glanced at him. "Invisibility isn't some amazing superpower. There are more than one person here who can spot you."

"Then how did you—"

"Do I really have to say it?" Jordan turned his head away in disgust, saying impatiently. "You smell like toilet cleaner."

Translucent: "..."

While Starlight was still trying to hold back her laughter, Queen Maeve couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Translucent had been sneaking into bathrooms to peep on people more than once or twice, relying on his abilities. However, he'd been exposed by a newcomer, which made him lose his reputation.

"Kid, you'd better be polite to your seniors."

Are you talking about yourself? An exhibitionist?

Translucent gritted his teeth and thought about the possibility of stealth stealing Jordan's gun and then beating him up.

Just then, a gust of wind blew at the entrance of the hall, and a figure draped in the Stars and Stripes appeared in the doorway.

"Homelander, you've arrived."

"Good morning, boss."

Queen Maeve and Translucent spoke one after the other.

As usual, Black Noir didn't speak, but subtly straightened his body.

Starlight was about to greet the leader of the Seven like the Queen and Translucent, but seeing that Jordan remained calm and didn't say anything, she was at a loss for what to do.

All she could do was shrink back and smile awkwardly.

"Good morning, everyone! I can hear your conversation. You all seem very energetic!"

Homelander smiled. "Why not continue?"

Translucent chuckled dryly. "You know, I was just joking with the newbie."

Homelander had just finished his world tour and returned to New York. This move had successfully suppressed the heat and search volume of the Deep incident, and also made him the focus of attention once again.

Therefore, he was in a very good mood right now.
