Chapter 19 - Chapter 18: The Garden of Eden

We stood before the gates of the Garden of Eden, and I could feel the power of the gods emanating from it. The gates were guarded by two massive angels, their swords drawn and ready.

Halt, they said in unison. Who dares to enter the Garden of Eden?

I stepped forward, the Crystal of Souls held out before me. I am the God of Death, I said. And I have come for the Chalice of Life.

The angels looked at each other, then back at me. You are not permitted to enter, they said.

I frowned, feeling a surge of anger. I am the God of Death, I said. And I will not be denied.

Ariana stepped forward, her eyes flashing with power. Let us pass, she said. We have come on a mission of great importance.

The angels looked at her, then back at me. Very well, they said. You may enter. But be warned, the Garden of Eden is full of dangers. You will not leave unscathed.

I nodded, and we stepped through the gates. The Garden of Eden was even more beautiful than I had imagined, with lush green grass and towering trees. A river ran through the center, and I could see the Chalice of Life glowing on the riverbank.

But as we approached, a figure stepped out of the shadows. A woman with long, flowing hair and eyes that shone like the stars.

Welcome, God of Death, she said. I have been waiting for you.

Who are you? I asked, feeling a sense of unease.

I am the Guardian of the Garden, she said. And I will not let you have the Chalice of Life.
