Chapter 2 - Flowing Rain Sword

When the black, obsidian obelisk activated, Felix endured the agony by gritting his teeth and clenching his fists. Compared to others, he was doing fairly well. He even kept his eyes open throughout the process.

What drove him was his desperation to summon a Rare three stars potential beast and above, to save his family from poverty. His parents only summoned Common three stars beasts, and they worked as production workers in the corporate world, where their salary could barely keep up with the medical expenditure to his younger sister who was in a coma for unknown reasons.

If he summoned a battle pet with Rare rank potential and above, he would be able to register himself as adventurer—a beast tamer who could leave the city, kill monsters and gather an important part of their body to sell.

It was the most profitable career but the risk was higher.

However, Felix was careless, as long as he was able to assist with his family's financial difficulties and could open the eyes of his younger sister, it would always be worth the risk.

To his horror, he did not summon a beast.

He summoned an old rusty dull sword.

His mind turned blank, he was unable to fully process what had just happened.

There were many questions popping up in his head.

How is it an object? It's supposed to be a beast!

The connection of his soul to the strange dimension has already been anchored and he could feel unknown energy invading in his body. According to his teacher, the unknown energy assisted them during the evolution of their beasts, granting them physical boosts.

In other words, what he summoned was what he really summoned.

As he fell into a daze, Krisha's voice startled him awake.

"A sword?"

Felix's eyes regained their clarity as he scrutinized the sword.

Suddenly, a wall of texts popped up beside the sword.

Felix read the wall of texts and was unable to quickly respond. It was difficult to process what was happening.

Just as he finished reading the wall of texts, a feminine voice echoed in his mind.

[The soul of the host has been anchored into the Immortal World. Your affinity with scraps of weapons of the immortals have increased, enabling you to summon weapons from them every time you ascend a major rank.

Your status has been posted, do you wish to see it?]

Felix was quiet as he was still processing the strange and unbelievable event that occurred during his first summoning. He also did not notice that Timothy was standing beside him. His parents were also behind him, completely shocked as he was, not knowing how to console their son.

Timothy, while standing beside her daughter, stared at the sword and said, "This is the first time I witnessed it. But this is not the first time in the history of summoning that someone summoned not a beast."

When Felix heard it, he was taken aback. He turned towards Timothy and bowed deeply, not knowing what to say.

Timothy sighed. "Child, just because you summon an object doesn't mean you are completely hopeless.

It's just that you're taking a path that is completely new—one that hasn't been taken by others.

Although I've said that this is not the first time, it has been years since there was a record that someone summoned an object. I'm telling you, they even reached the Commander rank.

So, you're not completely hopeless."

Felix kept his head low while not uttering a single word.

Timothy was silent for a while and said, "I want to help you, Child. If you need something, tell my daughter. You're friends with her, correct?"

Felix nodded slightly. He heard Krisha mumbling, "Dad, he's the type of person who'd rather figure it out himself than asking others to help him."

Timothy was surprised. He glanced at Felix and then to his parents. Felix's parents had their eyes glued to their son, not knowing what to do.

Timothy thought. I see.

He replied to his daughter, "Then, be his good friend. Don't forget to reach out to him."

He turned towards Felix and said, "Pick up the sword now, Child. I can't determine the rank of it since the energy it radiates is quite different from ours. Indeed, your soul has been anchored into a different dimension than ours, that's why you summon it."

Felix did as he was told and grabbed the hilt of the sword. A hint of surprise flashed across his face when he realized it was a perfect fit within his grasp.

A strange feeling bloomed inside his heart.

His mind entered a state of extreme clarity. All his mixed emotions earlier faded away.

Suddenly, a rain drop began to pour on the black, obsidian obelisk, with Felix at the center.

People panicked, hurriedly walking away to find a shelter as they did not bring an umbrella for they had not expected there would be a sudden rain.

Timothy simply manifested his rare rank black bear from his beast space and used it as a shade to protect him and his daughter.

He frowned as he gazed at Felix staring at his sword in a daze.

Did he cause the rain? The sky is clear earlier and yet there are clouds that suddenly appear.

He tilted his head upward and glanced at the grey clouds.

Those are not natural grey clouds, they are made up of energy… similar to the sword he's holding.

He stared at Felix in silence. I must keep an eye on him.

"Son!" Felix's mother shouted anxiously. "You'll get a fever if you stay in the rain. Let's take shelter."

However, Felix was unresponsive. He stood frozen while drenched by the rain.

He did not realize a rain poured down on him, as his mind was grabbed by the illusion he was standing atop the ocean…
