Chapter 9 - Memories

"Reynold knows I'm here and step mother does too. So technically, everyone knows. I'm surprised a bunch of shades haven't showed up at our door step with sharp blades threatening to take us against our will".

"I am too, I guess they don't care about you as much as you think".

"Yeah, I suppose so. Also, where are we?"

"What?"

"Well, we've been walking for the past 10 minutes and I still don't know where we are" Ben says, looking around at the passing vehicles and buildings as they walk by.

"Right…." Ares turns around "This building right here is the Central mall building. Figure the rest out"

"Wait a minute, you mean the Old Central Mall building we used to play in as kids?" Ben says in surprise, looking up at the tall building on the right.

"Yup, that's the one"

"Umm. Why does it look so...

"Different?"

"Yeah!" Ben exclaims in concurrence.

"Well, I guess 'yours truly' felt it was a waste for it to just sit there and decided to fix it up into what we now know as 'KEVANS Hotel' the McLewis family business, amongst other things" Ares says, rolling his eyes.

"K-E-E-V-A-N-S….?" Ben asks, making a weird disapproving look on his face.

"The name... I know right?!"

"It's not bad. It's nice, well-lit and has a nice view"

"A nice view of what, Ben?"

"I don't know" says Ben as he chuckles loudly, giving Ares a playful jab to the shoulder

"Hold on," Ben says, standing upright with his brows folded as if trying to figure something out. "If this is the Old Central Mall building, then we are on Groove Street, yes?"

"yeah"

"Wow, the street looks so different now. Back then, there weren't so many lights!" Said Ben walking under the array of lights on the street.

"I remember getting mugged here a lot" He says laughing. His eyes glittering as memories flood his mind.

"It really has changed," pausing to look around and rubbing his eyes.

"Quit dawdling, we are on a schedule"

"Schedule?" Ben turns, surprised. "Where are we even going?!"

"How do you not know where we are going?"

"Well, the only thing you told me was 'get dressed we're going out' and 'Wear a good disguise' hence the beanie and scarf" pointing at his outfit.

Ares nods, wearing a disappointed expression. "you didn't know where we were going and you didn't bother to ask; you just got dressed and came along?"

"I was bored, I thought you noticed and decided to take me on a walk or some'n"

"A smart person would've asked" Ares rolls his eyes and looks away.

"we're going to meet my intel guy"

"Oh, Okay" said Ben as he hurried along behind Ares.

"You know, you don't have to be so mean," he said, looking at Ares but Ares ignores him. "Uhghh, I'm talking to myself".

For a moment, they walked quietly. The cold night's breeze brushes against Ares's hair and Ben's scarf.

Both ends of the light blue woven scarf around Ben's neck swayed back and forth on his dark blue T-shirt paired with khakis.

Ares marched ahead with a fixed gaze and an expressionless face.

His gait matched that of a well-trained body guard. His hands tucked into the pockets of his blue baggy jeans which complimented his loose fit black T-shirt.

They walked by some tall matching buildings which looked like a row of abandoned flats and made a left turn into a street with dimmed lights.

They were a bunch of old buildings, lined upon the darkened street. Ares walked towards one of them and paused. He turned to look at Ben who was a little out of balance by the way he halted.

"We're here"
