Chapter 55: Cynthia: The Legendary Trainer?

What can Pikachu do? Unless Link accidentally selects Pelipper, Pikachu can't do anything.

The Meganium, deployed for defense, took a hit from "Fake Out," but its HP quickly recovered with Leftovers. Immediately after, double walls (Reflect & Light Screen) were set up, and Leech Seed was sown. Pikachu was rendered powerless and forced to switch out.

Gengar! Here we go! The opponent's lineup is cute, but its strength is outrageous for a kid.

Link, realizing Pikachu's output was useless, switched to Porygon2 after setting up the walls. Even though it was a kindergarten kid, the opponent didn't make the mistake of using Ghost-type moves on a Normal-type; instead, the kid chose Sludge Bomb to predict a switch to Meganium.

But Link trusted Porygon2's durability and confidently used Recover. In the end, Gengar's attack only brought Porygon2 to a sliver of health, and it healed right back. Unless Gengar landed two critical hits in a row, it was impossible to win.

The battle ended with Link defeating Dragonite, Gengar, and Pikachu.

"Tamako, was the battle fun?"

"It was so much fun! I want to be a Pokémon Trainer someday!"

Seeing the happy family opposite him, Link inexplicably felt like he had won the battle but lost at "life."

"Fennekin!" Fennekin's congratulations reminded him he wasn't alone. That morning, the Battle Factory tourists finally remembered the terror of a pro player!

...

In the Scenic Area, at Cynthia's villa.

On a life-sized Snorlax body pillow, a blonde girl in pink pajamas lazily yawned. This was Caitlin (Gadriya), the true powerhouse behind the Battle Castle. Due to her immense psychic power and lack of emotional control, her parents had forbidden her from battling publicly—if she got too excited, her powers would cause massive destruction. Thus, her butler, Darach (Shilan), managed the battles.

"The trainers lately are so weak. It makes me fall asleep," Caitlin complained.

"I think it's because your perspective as a spectator is too dull," Darach pointed out.

Caitlin wanted to battle, but few could keep up with her psychic-infused style. Except for the Champion standing before her—Cynthia.

"Want to have a match?" Caitlin asked.

"No," Cynthia turned around, crossing her arms. "Your parents forbade it. Psychic berserk is too much for your body."

Disappointed, Caitlin slumped back. "Speaking of interesting trainers, Darach mentioned something... a trainer named Link is undefeated at the Battle Factory since this morning. He uses defensive synergy and recovery moves perfectly. He's already won three rounds and secured the Silver Symbol."

She explained that after the 5th round, the opponents become advanced AI with "Pseudo-Legendary" teams. In the 49th battle, the Factory Head, Noland (Nezuki/Twisted Wood), challenges you with actual Legendary Pokémon.

"Turn-based battles with 4 moves... it's just a simulation. Why waste time there?" Caitlin wondered.

Cynthia, who had been grooming her Lucario, suddenly stopped. Her eyes lit up. "You said his name is Link? Is he exceptionally skilled?"

"Do you know him?" Caitlin asked, sensing Cynthia's sudden excitement.

Cynthia and Lucario exchanged a look. "I've seen that name in ancient texts. A story of a hero who descended from the sky, wielding a 'Master Sword' and traveling the Hisui lands. He could wrap water around his blade and fight with exceptional Force and swordsmanship... they say he was also an outstanding psychic."

"That's definitely a myth," Caitlin asserted. "Even a psychic like me can't do that."
