Chapter 29 - Chapter 30: How Did the Fennekin Evolve into a Rabbit?

Link and his Pokémon will have plenty of time to expand their skill pool in the future, but for now, his only option is to establish goals and tactics in advance and specialize in one skill as much as possible.

His plan is to conquer 8 gyms in 40 days, defeat Team Magma and Team Aqua in 3 months, win the Hoenn Tournament in 6 months, and become the new champion of the Hoenn region within a year.

Then, he'll retire at lightning speed and travel to other regions.

It sounds outrageous, but considering that among his peers in the neighboring Kanto region, there's someone who defeated Giovanni with 4 badges, disbanded Team Rocket with 8 badges, caught Zapdos and Articuno before the League, defeated the Elite Four in a year, and then immediately defeated and caught Mewtwo, his goals aren't that great.

If he can't achieve them… well, so be it. It's not shameful.

But to achieve his plan, he can't stagnate!

After his walk, Link prepared breakfast for his Pokémon, taught the training techniques Mew had taught him to Fennekin and Finneon, and then began today's simulation.

He will no longer try to rely on other people or Digimon.

From this simulation onward, Link will only trust himself and his partner, Digimon.

  [Starting Over]

  —Excerpt

[After a period of training, you and Digimon have developed a greater understanding. When Takuma Momozuka suggests everyone split up to find Aoi-senpai, you completely ignore it and instead explore the school building with Digimon.]

  [A wild Patamon has appeared!]

[But now it's the challenger. Digimon battles are battles of data. You didn't even need to evolve to the Rookie stage to easily defeat it with the "Sessho-seki."]

[Not long after, while exploring the school building, you hear a mournful melody coming from the piano classroom on the second floor.]

At the same time, the simulator plays a corresponding sound effect.

Link pondered. Wasn't this the same background music from the simulator's main menu that had lost its violin accompaniment?

The background music was identical to the melody coming from the piano classroom, clearly hinting at something.

[You feel a strange unease and decide to check out the piano classroom you ignored in previous playthroughs.]

[Just as you approach the piano classroom, you find the door blocked by a net, preventing you from opening it from this side. The intro to the melody ends there, and a girl's ethereal and sacred voice fills the air.]

  [The sky twinkles~ countless stars~

[From ancient times to the present~ warmth never fades~

[Looking at the world~ spiritual sounds echo~ all that remains~

[Flowers think of leaves~ leaves also think…]

[Suddenly, Momotsu Takuma's voice rang out from the piano classroom, seemingly entering through a secret passage somewhere.]

[Perhaps you've come at the wrong time. Wait until we meet again and ask him about the entrance. Come back next time.]

At this point in the simulation, a sudden inspiration flashed through Link's mind. That's right, we can obtain the solution to the past from the future!

Next time, why not take precautions in advance to prevent Aoi-senpai from being captured by the spider beast?

[If there's a chance, next time, let Ryo take Aoi's place and get captured, you think. Anyway, he and Kunimon are useless, so you can abandon Ryo without hesitation to buy time to train Digimon and allow the others to adjust their mindset.]

  While this might sound harsh,

Link believes that letting Ryo, a negative emotion monster that only adds pressure to the team, run free early is better for everyone.

With the gentle and kind Aoi's determination, Labramon will grow into a promising force.

  —SKIP

[After regrouping, you discuss tactics and decide that Pocomon will attract the attention of the boss Dokugumon, while the others focus on defeating the remaining Dokugumon before helping.]

["That being said, I could just have Pocomon take down that boss Dokugumon, right?" you say, leaving Takuma and the others with a confident back view.]

[Rin smiles and says you're cool, but this sounds a bit like setting a flag. Takuma agrees, urging you to stick with the others as much as possible.]

The group "again" arrived at the stadium via the tunnel, everything proceeding as planned. This included your and Pocomon's all-out effort.

[For some reason, your mindset has subtly changed since arriving in this world. You no longer subconsciously reject everything, nor are you pessimistic because of repeated deaths and annihilation.]

[You deeply realize that in this place where it seems the whole world has disappeared, you are not alone.]

[Although it may not be very strong, Digimon is always silently following you, supporting you, and protecting you.]

[Aren't you and I, who met in this strange world, a match made in heaven, a pair destined for each other? Power, I command you to come forth!]

[You decide to trust Digimon without reservation!]

[Digimon, which has already transformed into a foxmon in the battle, has sensed your domineering intent.]

"Isn't this narration style a bit off?"

  "Fen..?"

"Nothing, I was just thinking that it's so great to have met you in this world."

  The Fennekin thought so too!

But it was wrong of Link to disturb its practice of moves; it was concentrating on "meditation."

  "..."

[Digimon are a reflection and shared destiny of human spirit and soul; the evolution of Digimon reflects the transformation of humanity itself.]

Note: Limited to the world view of "Survival in the Brink".

[Sensing your burning emotions and will, Renamon's data volume has surged! Increasing dramatically! Increasing wildly!]

[What in this world can withstand this? What in this world can withstand this?]

  [Renamon! Evolve!!!]

Seeing himself in the simulator world line finally connected with Renamon, Link clenched his fists nervously.

  Sure enough!

In that unfamiliar world, only Digimon was the only one worthy of trust!

  [As the saying goes—]

[Agile movements teasing the enemy, the waxing and waning of the moon unpredictable, a mysterious aura surrounding him, moonlit water bombs hypnotic bubbles, teardrop arrows of ice cold, a moonlit flying kick descending from the sky, a rapid descent revealing the kick's power!]

  [Is it Nine-Tailed Renamon?]

[No! The light of evolution blooms, Renamon evolves into Lekismon!] Link: "?"

Shouldn't Foxmon evolve into Nine-Tailed Foxmon or Renamon?

How did you evolve from a fox into a rabbit?

[Lekismon, a Data-type Champion-level Werewolf Digimon. Possesses astonishing jumping ability, using agile movements to toy with opponents. Like the waxing and waning of the moon, it has an unpredictable personality, often giving off a mysterious and enigmatic aura.]

[Absolute trust in its partner, and the will to fight even alone, endow Lekismon with an ethereal, aloof, and unfettered power!]

[The evolved Lekismon leaps into the air, using its "Moon Gloves" to unleash "Moonlight Bullets" on all Dokugumon except the leader, hypnotizing them all.]

[Accompanied by a graceful crescent-shaped arc, the high-speed "Moonlight Kick" descends from the sky.]

  [Rabbit Kick!!!]

[The powerful kick explodes, without even a cry of pain, the once invincible Dokugumon is reduced to fragments of data!]
