Long before the Valyrian Freehold cast its shadow across the world, a meteorite of unknown origin and unfathomable composition struck the earth. Valyria flourished, unaware that beneath its foundations lay a power older than dragons themselves. When the Doom finally consumed the Freehold, it not only destroyed an empire but also unleashed that ancient force: fragments of the meteorite scattered across the world, hiding in the depths of the sea, in riverbeds, and in the most forgotten corners of cities.
The largest fragment was found by a smith whose name has been lost to time. Drawn by an instinct he could not explain, he forged five golden arrows from it. Upon completing his work, the smith understood that the material possessed a legendary and terrifying power; a temptation too great for any man. Fearing what the world would do with such a gift, he decided to hide them, protecting humanity from a force it was not ready to claim.
For centuries, the secret was passed down through generations. The smith's descendants guarded the cache, resisting the temptation to sell or use the arrows, for they felt the arrows exerted a strange will over them. However, the lineage was broken during the Dance of the Dragons (129-131 AC). The last guardian perished in the civil war, leaving the arrows to the mercy of oblivion.
It was in 260 AC that fate, or perhaps a darker force, allowed five children, barely five years old, to stumble upon the ancient cache. Now, in 277 AC, those children are adults. The world of the Seven Kingdoms is about to change forever. The question is: will they be our salvation or our downfall?
