Chapter 2 - Hydrogen

As the sun began to rise upon the campus of the academy, the light was seeping through the curtains of Hydrogen's apartment.

Because the apartment building was shaped exactly like the periodic table, with a secondary building corresponding to the Lanthanides and Actinides accesible through a pedestrian bridge, this meant that Hydrogen's apartment was located at the very top of the first column, she is very used to using the elevator as she thinks the stairs are very tiring for her.

Hydrogen began to wake up, it was Monday at 7:00. The first class started at 8:00. To clear things up, the girl sleeping here is the first and most abundant element. She is a petite, 1.55m skinny girl with white hair with light purple tips in a cute bob cut, and light gray eyes.

Belonging to class Alpha, identified by the blue diamond-shaped pin on the blazer's lapel, Hydrogen is known as the most important element in the universe, but often overlooked by others.

Finally, Hydrogen got woken up by her alarm clock, laying in very big bed for her, she opened one eye and remembered she needed to get ready. Hydrogen stood up, and walked to wash her face and brush her teeth, she planned to have breakfast at the cafeteria later. Hydrogen walked sluggishly to get her uniform, and put it on.

Hydrogen: Ah... it had to be Monday today... I hope I didn't forget to do homework.

Hydrogen: And if I forget, then I'll just ask Helium to give me the homework, I don't care.

Hydrogen picked up her bag and opened the door, revealing a big view of the city, she rested her arms on the railing enjoying the panoramic, after a few seconds, she continued on to hopping in the elevator.

The elevator descended and opened its doors on the ground floor, she stepped off of it and continued walking.

Many people were around the whole school; professors, undergraduates, scientists, fellow Alpha class members, some Beta students and, without Hydrogen really knowing, even some Gamma students, as Hydrogen herself doesn't know them and never plans on doing so.

Hydrogen walks silently watching the gardens, and suddenly s hand pulls back on her shirt's collar.

Helium: Good morning, Hydro!

Hydrogen: Uh!- H-hi, Helium, good morning to you too...

Helium apporached her, not really Hydrogen's friends, but she always seemed to stick with her - even in lab practices, she is an inch shorter than Hydrogen, shoulder-length red-orange hair with bangs and balloon red eyes, she is shy around groups but expressive one-on-one, she is also the lightest student.

Helium: I came over from the other side of the building to see you!

Hydrogen: You? Wanting to stick with me? Aren't you... NOT REACTIVE AT ALL???

Helium: Hey! I just want to do my own stuff! Plus, Neon is very inert too but that doesn't mean she can't talk to other people!!!

Hydrogen: Alright.

Helium: Did you do the maths homework?

Hydrogen: W-what!? Weren't we gonna do it in class? Crap.

Hydrogen: Please help me, I didn't do it!!!

Helium: Bad for you, this time I won't give it to you.

Hydrogen: Why!?

Helium: Don't be lazy! And it's also very easy, It's just triangles!

Hydrogen: Doesn't matter, I'll ask Carbon for it... also, don't you think the way to the classroom is way too long? I always get tired just walking there every. Single. Morning.

Helium: It maybe is, but I don't mind much.

The two girls walked side by side on their way to class Alpha's classroom, located in the other side of campus.
