And you expect me to believe," he said, "that a man we failed to contain… is now operating with knowledge of the future and some mythical tool."
Blake met his gaze. "I expect you to look at your missing oil," he said. "And tell me if your current explanation makes more sense."
Silence.
He continued, "Humans don't normally believe what they don't see, yet, we had thousands of people stockpiling at first sight of the sun.
"Mr. President, is there a reason people would rather think of the apocalypse before climate change?
"Any reason why a sudden countdown struck everywhere at once around the world?
"Do you have any explanation for why the largest antique warehouses vanished into thin air?
"I tell you, Mr. President, this is not the time for you to dismiss what you don't understand."
Blake's voice didn't rise. If anything, it lowered. "Because whether you believe it or not," he continued, "it's already happening."
