Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Ren’s Thoughts

Venom—full coverage, combat mode.

This was only the most basic form. No additional copied abilities. Just pure amplification of strength, speed, endurance, and defense.

The men surrounding Natasha froze in place.

One moment, she had been an incredibly attractive woman.

The next—

A towering, black, fanged monster stood before them, its body wrapped in shifting dark fluid, white eyes gleaming with predatory intent.

"Mon… monster!"

They were ordinary thugs. They had never seen anything like this.

Natasha flexed her claws slowly.

"What intoxicating power…" she murmured.

Her strength had multiplied several times over. This wasn't just beyond human limits—it was something entirely different.

Her gaze settled on the large man leading the group.

Garbage like this didn't deserve to breathe.

"Don't come any closer! I'll shoot!"

The man's hands trembled slightly as he raised a Beretta 92F pistol.

In the United States, firearms were easy to acquire. The cold weight of the gun gave him courage.

Seeing the weapon, Natasha instinctively stepped back.

Her mindset hadn't fully adjusted. No matter how strong she felt, the human instinctive fear of guns remained.

The thug grinned when he saw her retreat.

"So you're scared after all."

He pulled the trigger.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

Six shots in rapid succession.

The slide locked back with a metallic click.

All bullets had hit.

The thug smirked.

"Nothing special—"

The smirk vanished.

The black creature calmly brushed its chest where the bullets had struck.

No damage.

Not even penetration.

Natasha looked down at the flattened bullets on the pavement.

Her anger flared.

When he fired, she genuinely believed she might die.

A top agent dying in an alley to a street thug—and worse, the disgusting thought he'd had—

The humiliation alone was enough to ignite fury.

"Bastard."

She stomped.

The pavement cracked.

In an instant, she was in front of him.

Her clawed hand grabbed his head and slammed downward.

There was a sickening crunch.

His skull collapsed into his chest cavity before he could scream.

The surrounding thugs went pale and scattered instantly, running as if their lives depended on it.

Natasha didn't pursue.

The black fluid slowly withdrew, reshaping into her dress as if nothing had happened.

She stared at the corpse.

This wasn't her first kill.

But it was her first outside an official mission.

He was trash.

But did he deserve that?

Her jaw tightened.

"What happened just now?" she asked coldly. "Were you influencing my emotions?"

Ren sounded genuinely annoyed.

"What does that have to do with me?"

"I lost control. I don't lose control."

"It's simple," Ren replied coolly. "You suddenly gained overwhelming power. Your mentality shifted. Add fear of firearms, fear of death—fear turns into anger. Anger turns into violence.

"You lacked the mindset to wield this level of strength. And now you want to blame me. Classic human behavior."

His tone carried open disdain.

Ren had ambitions of his own.

Who said a Symbiote existed merely to obey?

Across the cosmos, creatures like Venom were notorious for manipulating hosts, not the other way around.

Control wasn't something he intended to surrender easily.

Still—subtlety was better than confrontation.

Natasha fell silent.

His explanation… made sense.

She had indeed felt fear.

Then rage.

Then acted without restraint.

"Why didn't you tell me the suit could block bullets?" she snapped, clinging to irritation.

"You didn't ask."

Natasha: "…"

"If you died, how would that benefit me?" Ren continued flatly. "Do you think I'd let my optimal host get killed by street trash? If bullets were a threat, I would have forced you to dodge. Missiles wouldn't penetrate this form, let alone handgun rounds."

His confidence bordered on arrogance.

Natasha's cheeks flushed—not from embarrassment, but irritation.

Being looked down on by an alien parasite—

Symbiote.

Whatever.

"Anyway, it's your fault," she declared stubbornly.

Ren paused.

"…Fine. My fault. Can't argue with you. I'm done."

He fell silent.

Women truly were unreasonable creatures.

Natasha noticed his retreat and couldn't stop the slight curve of her lips.

Her mood improved instantly.

Maybe this partnership wasn't so terrible.

No weight gain.

Unlimited wardrobe.

Bullet immunity.

And overwhelming combat power.

For an operative who had always been merely human…

It was dangerously tempting.
