Directors and senior staff moved through the glass corridors with quick steps, constantly checking their phones, waiting for the legal department to issue the formal paperwork for the emergency equity transfer.
Inside his corner office, Richard sat behind his broad mahogany desk, looking over a blue folder containing the transfer authorization. Standing across from him, Ray signed the final page of a private equity transfer document, his expression sour.
"There," Ray muttered, tossing the silver pen onto the leather desk blotter. "One-point-two percent of my life savings, handed over on a silver platter."
