Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries

The key was that Lily would never allow Harley to touch toxic Potion ingredients, so the sandwich would at most taste mediocre and wouldn't cause any physical harm.

As such, Severus and James naturally had nothing to fear.

But they didn't expect that this seemingly ordinary sandwich would erupt with unimaginable power.

"Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh!"

"Cluck cluck cluck—"

Three seconds later, the two grown men collapsed gallantly to the ground at the same time, letting out strange groans.

James's nostrils began to frantically blow out pink bubbles, while Snape's ears turned a greenish-blue at a visible speed and grew sharp spikes, just like a siren's fins.

Sirius and Lupin, who were about to taste the sandwiches, were stunned by the scene. They hurriedly threw the sandwiches back onto the plates and looked at Lily with terror.

"It's not that serious... it's really not that serious, sister!"

Sirius wailed.

Lily was also quite frightened and hurried forward, wanting to check what had happened to James and Severus.

Lily had been watching when Harley prepared the sauce; she could guarantee Harley hadn't added any toxic ingredients, only common seasonings. Why was their reaction so intense?

Lily frowned, drew her wand, and softly chanted a series of complex spells. Faint rays of light shot from her hand, enveloping James and Severus.

However, a moment later, the light didn't produce any obvious changes or feedback as expected.

"It's not damage caused by a Potion..."

Lily murmured to herself, turning her gaze to her daughter, Harley.

"Harley, are you sure you only used the seasonings I gave you?"

Harley nodded vigorously.

Lupin asked nervously, "Uh... so what should we do now?"

Lily thought for a few seconds and replied, "You two take them to St. Mungos via Apparition first. I'll follow with Harley."

After speaking, she quickly turned to pack her things.

Sirius and Lupin exchanged a look; it seemed James and Severus's poisoning had nothing to do with Lily and Harley.

Although they still had doubts, the most important thing now was to treat their injured friends as quickly as possible.

Sirius bent down to pick up James, carefully holding him in his arms; Lupin leaned down and carried the unconscious Severus on his back.

With a sound of spatial distortion, they instantly vanished without a trace.

Lily urged Harley to change into outdoor clothes, grabbed the half-eaten sandwich from the table, wrapped it in parchment, and stuffed it into her pocket.

Then the mother and daughter walked to the fireplace one after another, lit the fire, and threw in a handful of floo powder. Accompanied by a brilliant green flame, they successfully arrived at their destination—St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.

The white walls of St. Mungos made Harley's eyes ache slightly.

She sat on a hard bench in the waiting area of the Potion and Plant Poisoning Department on the fourth floor, wrinkling her nose. The strange smell in the air disgusted her.

Various Wizards in strange states kept walking back and forth in the corridor in front of her—one had a head turned into a pumpkin, another had fire burning on his head, and one sneezed at the ceiling from time to time, each sneeze releasing a flock of colorful birds.

Were these all reactions to Potion poisoning?

The sight before her refreshed Harley's impression of Potions; she began to take an interest in them.

In the room behind Harley, James and Snape lay on adjacent hospital beds.

The former was watching with interest as pink bubbles from his nose floated to the ceiling, while the latter expressionlessly allowed the Healer to examine his greenish-blue ears, though his gaze was like a poisoned dagger, darting toward the neighboring bed from time to time.

"The preliminary diagnosis is magical food poisoning of unknown origin."

Healer Albert pushed up his glasses and filled the parchment with strange symbols.

"But the strange thing is that the spell detection shows no common toxin reactions, and the Potion analysis is normal... And looking at their states, are you gentlemen sure you ate the same thing?"

"Yes, half of a magical sandwich... Hahaha, my baby goddaughter must have some special talent."

James said, then sneezed, a cluster of pink bubbles spraying from his nostrils.

"Harley isn't your goddaughter, she's my daughter!"

Snape corrected coldly, his greenish-blue ears trembling slightly as he spoke. "She must have inherited my talent for Potions—"

"Tsk, don't flatter yourself. Harley clearly inherited it from Lily!"

"Shut up! You bubble-head!"

"Siren-ears Snivellus!"

"Idiot bubble machine!"

Healer Albert looked at these two men, whose combined age was nearly fifty, arguing like elementary schoolers. He turned helplessly to Lily, "Ms. Snape, could you describe the ingredients of that sandwich in detail?"

Lily's face turned bright red. "Just ordinary toast, mustard, honey, blueberry jam... and some BBQ sauce and mayonnaise?"

Her voice grew smaller and smaller. "There seemed to be a bit of hot sauce, a little ketchup, and maybe... a spoonful of blue cheese?"

Albert's glasses almost slipped to his nose—even if these seasonings weren't toxic themselves, did the person who made this sauce have a grudge against these two?

It was a truly unimaginable taste... Harley sat quietly outside the door. Although separated from the room by a wall, the voices from inside were clearly audible.

She couldn't help but feel a wave of embarrassment, subconsciously curling her toes to hide her inner unease.

After all, it was the sandwich she made that landed Severus and James in St. Mungos.

Just as Harley was feeling secretly frustrated, a deep and magnetic voice suddenly reached her ears:

"Oh, lovely little Harley, you look even more like a little angel than the last time I saw you—"

Harley looked up blankly, only to see Albus Dumbledore appear before her at some unknown time.

Behind Dumbledore followed Gellert Grindelwald, whose hands were tightly bound and who wore a special mask over his face.

Harley frowned—they hadn't even been at St. Mungos for twenty minutes, and Dumbledore had already heard the news and rushed over?

Before she could figure anything out, Dumbledore had already smiled and reached out a hand, gently taking Harley's slightly nervous little hand.

"Come, Harley, don't be afraid. This isn't your fault. Let's go in and have a look together."
