The voice from behind the iron door made Lyria go cold all over.
Not because it was loud.
Because she knew it.
Her wolf went still inside her chest. Kael saw the change in her face at once. He turned toward her, then back to the door.
"Lyria?" he said.
She could barely get the word out. "I know that voice."
Mira frowned. "That is not a good sentence."
Selene's face went hard. She took one step forward, then stopped herself.
The keeper in the chains let out a slow breath and shut her eyes.
"No," she said quietly. "Not now."
The voice behind the door came again. Low. Rough. Older than Lyria remembered, but still hers to recognize.
"Open it."
Lyria stared at the iron bars.
That was her father's voice.
The thought hit so hard it felt like a shove.
Kael's head snapped around. "Your father?"
Lyria could only nod.
Ronan cursed under his breath. "Oh, this keeps getting worse."
