Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Back-to-Back Player of the Week, Nike and Adidas Can’t Sit Still

"Hey, did you watch that interview? Blake Su is already amazing, but he's humble too—and handsome. Seriously, I think I'm falling for him!"

"Hey! Don't steal him from me!"

"What are you talking about? Blake Su's already mine."

"Pfft!"

"You're all dreaming! Su Su and I grew up together—we were practically promised to each other at birth. Drop it already."

"Hah… someone's read too many romance novels."

"Whoa~ what's going on? So many girls popping up out of nowhere? If you need a boyfriend, I'm available anytime. I'm super nice—way better than Blake Su!"

"Get lost~"

"..."

Another dazzling performance pushed Blake Su even further into the spotlight. His popularity was skyrocketing.

At 1 p.m.

Riding the wave of momentum, the NBA officially announced last week's Players of the Week.

Western Conference.

Blake Su once again beat out stars like Durant, Nowitzki, Kobe, and Parker. As a rookie, he claimed Western Conference Player of the Week for the second straight time.

Last week, Blake Su averaged 44.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 0.5 steals, and 4.7 blocks, leading his team to three consecutive wins with dominant numbers across the board.

Dirk Nowitzki averaged 27.4 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.7 blocks, guiding his team to a 3–1 record.

His signature one-legged fadeaway gave defenders constant headaches.

He was the closest to Blake Su statistically—but only close. A deeper look showed the gap between them was still obvious.

As for Kobe and Parker, both the Lakers and Spurs posted strong team records. But given the overall strength of their rosters, their individual numbers didn't stack up against Blake Su's.

They earned nominations, but not serious contention.

Durant's head-to-head loss to Blake Su also cost him ground in the race.

"Back-to-back!"

"That's our Su God! Dominating the Western All-Stars again and taking Player of the Week!"

"Unbelievable!"

Fans were once again in awe of Blake Su's dominance after the results were announced.

Eastern Conference.

The award went to Derrick Rose.

LeBron James of the Heat also had excellent numbers and team success, but Rose carried a heavier individual load.

His explosive athleticism and breathtaking rim attacks were simply electrifying—those highlights certainly helped his case.

The "Windy City Rose" edged out the "King."

Meanwhile, Dwight Howard delivered another strong week. As the East's dominant All-Star center, his production matched his reputation.

In addition, Amar'e Stoudemire of the Knicks and Josh Smith of the Hawks showcased impressive offensive performances, earning themselves solid media coverage.

Of course.

The brightest spotlight belonged to rookie Blake Su.

Player of the Week was usually an award reserved for established stars—but this time, a rookie stormed in and stole the show.

Blake Su was undeniably the most dazzling name of the week.

...

Nike headquarters.

Manager's office.

A man lounged on the sofa, flipping through the latest basketball news. His name was Kalm, an external affairs manager at Nike focused specifically on the NBA market.

Before long, an employee knocked and entered, placing a folder on the desk.

"Manager, here's the information on Blake Su."

After a pause, he added, "Are you interested in this rookie?"

"Hm? Why do you ask?"

Kalm glanced up casually.

The employee smiled. "No particular reason. He's been on fire lately. Some people even think his ceiling might be extremely high."

"Oh? Didn't expect that level of insight from you."

Kalm smiled faintly.

"Blake Su is excellent. If we sign him, the market potential could be huge—especially among fans from his home country. That audience alone is massive.

But…

Seven strong games isn't enough. It's still early. Let's observe a little longer—see if he maintains this level. Or if…

his offensive style ultimately struggles to adapt to the league."

The employee nodded and left.

Once the door closed, Kalm narrowed his eyes.

"If he can sustain this level, that would already be impressive.

But…

he's still a center."

He let out a quiet sigh.

...

Around the same time.

Adidas headquarters.

In the manager's office, Wagner paced anxiously, glancing at the door every few seconds.

Soon, an employee hurried in.

"Well?!"

Wagner asked immediately.

The employee handed him a business card.

"Manager, here it is. Austin's card—Blake Su's agent."

"Mm."

Wagner nodded. He already knew the name.

Almost the moment he took the card, he returned to his desk and dialed Austin using the company phone.

"Hello?"

"Hello, this is Adidas. I'm Wagner, External Affairs Manager. Our company is very interested in Blake Su and would like to sign him.

If possible, we'd like to arrange a meeting."

"Oh? Of course!"

Austin agreed with a laugh.

"Nice."

After confirming a time, Wagner let out a long breath. The tension in his expression eased instantly, replaced by visible satisfaction.

An employee couldn't help asking, "Manager, is Blake Su really that important? He's just a rookie—and a center. The market for that isn't huge."

"No."

Wagner shook his head firmly.

"Blake Su's market is enormous—much bigger than you think. And more importantly, he's far better than you realize.

There will definitely be competition.

Especially Nike. They won't ignore him. They'll fight for him.

So if we want Blake Su, we have to move fast.

And we need to show real sincerity."

Wagner was visibly energized, while his employee remained confused. He simply couldn't understand how a rookie could stir this much urgency in a seasoned executive.

...

Meanwhile.

After receiving the call from Adidas, Austin immediately informed Blake Su.

Blake Su was delighted.

He understood clearly—only by signing endorsement deals could he truly start earning serious money.

And with the company's promotional backing, his popularity would continue to rise, creating a positive cycle that pushed him higher and higher.

At the same time, Blake Su left all contract discussions and meeting arrangements to Austin.

All he needed to do was review the final offers and choose the best one.
