Chapter 19 - Chapter19:Michelin Star Restaurant

After finalizing the order, Jiang Cheng took the rolls-royce to the Ren He Restaurant that Yu Xiaoxiao had reserved.

As soon as he pushed open the door, a rich atmosphere of old Shanghai swept over him.

Dark green wallpaper, an antique gramophone, and vintage ceiling fans filled the room, while on a stage in the center, a retro beauty dressed in a qipao sang songs of "Old Shanghai."

Jiang Cheng nodded; as expected of a one-star Michelin restaurant, the ambiance was superb.

Yu Xiaoxiao hadn't chosen one of the booths outside; she had booked a small private room.

When Jiang Cheng walked into the room, Yu Xiaoxiao was holding a tablet and ordering food.

Seeing Jiang Cheng, Yu Xiaoxiao stood up with a slightly shy expression and waved at him. "Jiang Cheng, come sit over here."

Yu Xiaoxiao was wearing a knee-length Chanel dress, looking elegant and sophisticated. Her skin was as white as snow, and she was breathtakingly beautiful.

Jiang Cheng walked to Yu Xiaoxiao's side, wrapped his arm around her slender and sexy waist, and pressed his lips against her delicate ear. He breathed softly as he whispered, "Why did you change your clothes?"

Teased by Jiang Cheng's flirtatious actions, Yu Xiaoxiao's face grew even more flushed. She gave him a symbolic light push and said with a crimson face, "Isn't it normal to change clothes? I haven't even mentioned it to you yet—those clothes were torn by you."

Recalling his excited state last night, Jiang Cheng gave a wicked smile. "You only have yourself to blame. Who told you that your 'assets' were so problematic? They required some thorough and hands-on work."

Before Yu Xiaoxiao could react to his words, her mouth was blocked by Jiang Cheng.

Ten minutes later, a blushing Yu Xiaoxiao pushed Jiang Cheng away. She straightened her clothes and sat back in her seat. "It wouldn't be good if someone walked in."

Jiang Cheng wasn't in a hurry anyway; he had plenty of time tonight to take things slow.

Yu Xiaoxiao handed the tablet to Jiang Cheng and began enthusiastically introducing the dishes. "The Crab Meat over Rice here is unique in Shanghai. Their rice is covered in crab roe. This dish even got an official Michelin recommendation; you have to try it later."

"And there's also this Sliced Fish in Rice Wine Sauce, Onion-roasted Halibut Head, Baby Bok Choy with Shredded Bean Curd Skin..."

As Yu Xiaoxiao spoke, Jiang Cheng looked through the menu. Once Yu Xiaoxiao had ordered four dishes, Jiang Cheng nodded. "That should be enough then."

"Order a few more. You'll see in a bit—the food here is delicious, but the portions really aren't that big."

Jiang Cheng took a look and casually ordered three more recommended dishes.

"By the way, do you know Su Wan? I seem to remember you saying last night that you're also from Tiancheng Entertainment."

Yu Xiaoxiao looked at Jiang Cheng and asked curiously, "Su Wan? She's an artist at our company. Why?"

Jiang Cheng gave Yu Xiaoxiao a brief overview of what had happened and mentioned his intention to sign Su Wan.

After hearing this, a hint of jealousy appeared on Yu Xiaoxiao's face. She teased, "Terminate her contract? That would require paying a penalty fee. Your feelings for her..."

Jiang Cheng understood what Yu Xiaoxiao meant and shook his head. "I don't have any thoughts about her for now. I just feel she has great potential..."

"Great potential? Her current status isn't even third-tier. The resources the company gives her are practically non-existent, and she didn't get her new investment yesterday either."

Yu Xiaoxiao didn't take Jiang Cheng's words seriously. After all, what man doesn't like a beautiful girl?

Especially someone like Su Wan.

However, Yu Xiaoxiao didn't care at this point. In her view, she and Jiang Cheng were just getting what they needed from each other.

If one day Jiang Cheng didn't want to play with her anymore, she could leave gracefully.

In any case, she was a non-marriage advocate. As long as feelings weren't involved, everything was fine.

"I know, but I'm still very optimistic about her. Besides, I'm planning to open an entertainment company, and she's the first artist I've approached," Jiang Cheng said seriously.

During his conversation with Yu Xiaoxiao, Jiang Cheng learned that she was actually the manager of the Operations Department at Tiancheng Entertainment, which surprised him greatly.

To be able to hold such a position at the age of 25 was quite impressive.

Even though it was just a department manager, without a background, one might not necessarily sit in that position at 25.

Yu Xiaoxiao said she didn't rely on any background and it was entirely based on her own strength. Her grades in university were excellent, and she had received so many scholarships her hands grew soft from taking them.

If such a capable woman could help him manage his company, wouldn't Jiang Cheng be able to just kick back and relax?

Thinking of this, a wicked smile secretly formed at the corner of Jiang Cheng's mouth.

"Regarding Su Wan, although the company doesn't value her much right now, her conditions are indeed good. If you like her, I can help you terminate her contract."

Hearing Yu Xiaoxiao's generous reply, a strange feeling rose in Jiang Cheng's heart.

However, he was more than happy to do something where he could take the initiative without needing to take responsibility.

"Then I'll have to trouble you..."

Yu Xiaoxiao nodded and said, "Su Wan's contract shouldn't have expired yet. If you want to sign her, the penalty fee will probably be several million. Our company usually signs five-year contracts. I'll have to check the detailed terms."

While they were talking, the dishes had all arrived.

Looking at the Jesse Braised Pork he had just ordered for 138 yuan a portion, Jiang Cheng finally understood what Yu Xiaoxiao meant by small portions.

The portion looked large on the tablet, but he didn't expect it to be just a tiny plate when served.

The Sliced Fish in Rice Wine Sauce was the same. The tablet showed many slices of fish, but in reality, there were only about ten.

Fortunately, Yu Xiaoxiao had ordered a few more items at the end; otherwise, it really wouldn't have been enough to eat.
