Chapter 4 - Chapter4:A Fortune Bestowed

Sigh, one has to bow their head when under the system's thumb.

Jiang Cheng pointed at those listings priced over a million and asked, "Is there any room to negotiate the price on these houses?"

Hearing Jiang Cheng say this, Xiao Xia immediately breathed a sigh of relief and nodded. "There should still be room for negotiation."

In real estate transactions, as long as it's not a case where the seller is in an extreme rush to sell, the listed prices are generally a bit inflated.

Because once a buyer shows interest, they will inevitably bargain during the purchase, so the price must be listed a bit higher to leave some room for negotiation.

Jiang Cheng naturally understood this logic. He nodded and said to Xiao Xia, "How about this: if you can negotiate these five listings that are over a million down to one million each, I'll buy them."

Seeing Jiang Cheng wanting to buy five houses at once, Xiao Xia's eyes widened in shock, and her rounded bottom could hardly stay still on the seat.

She stammered as she asked, "This... are you saying you'll buy all five?"

Jiang Cheng smiled and nodded. "I can buy them here, right?"

"This... Mr. Jiang, there are purchase restrictions on real estate now. If you want to buy five, will they all be under your name?"

Jiang Cheng nodded. "Yes. If I can buy all five, I can pay the full amount in cash."

Seeing Jiang Cheng say this, not only did her eyes become even more shocked, but even her breathing became somewhat rapid. "Full cash payment!"

Xiao Xia found it hard to believe because Jiang Cheng looked to be about the same age as her, yet at this age, he could produce five million in cash to buy houses.

Though she was skeptical, she didn't dare say it out loud. She even nodded and said, "It should be possible to arrange. I need to talk to my supervisor about this operation. Also, regarding the price, I will do my best to help you lower it."

"If the price can't reach one million per unit, I won't buy them, understand? I won't pay a penny more. Can you negotiate that?"

This question immediately made Xiao Xia lose some confidence.

Although there was originally room for negotiation in these prices,

one of these five apartments was priced at 1.09 million, a direct difference of ninety thousand, while the others had differences in the forty to fifty thousand range.

If their supervisor stepped in, the price could probably be negotiated down, but she was just a newcomer and wasn't entirely sure.

She said somewhat timidly, "I... I'll give it a try."

Even though she really wanted the commission from these houses, that desire didn't boost her self-confidence.

"This... don't you need to go take a look first?"

Jiang Cheng shook his head. He didn't know how long it would take to look at so many units, and besides, he wasn't going to live in them himself.

"No need. If they can be bought, I'll just entrust you to list them for rent directly when the time comes."

Seeing how straightforward Jiang Cheng was, Xiao Xia's simple head immediately nodded like a chicken pecking at rice.

It was her first time seeing someone buy a house so casually; that relaxed manner was just like buying vegetables at a wet market.

Could it be that five million is already like pocket change for people in these big cities?

Jiang Cheng asked curiously, "Judging by your accent, you're not a local, are you?"

At Jiang Cheng's question, Xiao Xia nodded sheepishly. She gave a simple, honest smile and said with a bit of self-deprecation, "I'm from the Ganzi Tibetan Prefecture in Chengdu."

Jiang Cheng looked at Xiao Xia's clothing, speech, and behavior, and nodded in understanding.

Although that place was beautiful, it was no different from being isolated from the world, filled with nothing but great mountains and rivers. The economy was poor, so it was no wonder Xiao Xia had come out to work at nineteen.

Jiang Cheng looked at the old-model phone in Xiao Xia's hand, which was already cracked and damaged.

His brow couldn't help but furrow.

At the same age, even his classmates from ordinary families were bright, upwardly mobile, and optimistic. This was the first time Jiang Cheng had met a girl like Xiao Xia who had come out from the mountains.

Thinking this, he said on a sudden whim, "How about this: you do your best to help me negotiate. If you can get the price down to one million, what if I give you the difference that was negotiated away?"

Xiao Xia was stunned upon hearing Jiang Cheng's words. Did Jiang Cheng mean that for a 1.09 million house, if she could negotiate a deal at one million, that ninety thousand difference would be given directly to her?

But Jiang Cheng was buying five houses. If all the differences were given to her, that would be at least several hundred thousand!

"This, Mr. Jiang, are you serious? The difference for five houses is several hundred thousand. You're going to give that money to me?"

Although Xiao Xia was extremely excited and really wanted it, she truly couldn't understand what the difference was between this method of purchase and Jiang Cheng buying them directly.

Why would Jiang Cheng want to give this money to her?

Xiao Xia, who was extremely lacking in self-confidence, naturally didn't think Jiang Cheng had taken an interest in her. After all, in her eyes, she was so plain and ordinary that she couldn't possibly be a match for a Handsome Guy like Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng saw Xiao Xia's confusion. In fact, he didn't want to be so troublesome either, but the restriction on the five cards stated that the maximum limit was one million; anything over that would be invalid.

To use these cards, he had to push the price down to one million.

Although he could pay one million first, use the Critical Hit Card, and then pay the remaining difference, rather than giving that money to those wealthy owners, it was better to give it to Xiao Xia in front of him. Since the money had to be spent anyway, wouldn't it be better to give it to a girl from the mountains?

There was no helping it; Jiang Cheng was prone to being charitable toward these pitiful women.

"I know what your question is, but today is a very special day in my life. My mood happens to be very good, so I'll 'bestow' a fortune upon you."

Hearing Jiang Cheng say this, Xiao Xia was so moved that her eyes turned red.

Jiang Cheng was the first stranger she had met who was so kind to her.

Only after coming to the big city did she feel that there truly was a gap between people.

Especially the first time she took the train to Chengdu.

She remembered she was wearing a set of clothes that were half-old and half-new. Her rations for the road were homemade steamed buns and warm water in a thermos.

But the child sitting across from her was wearing brand-new clothes, eating KFC burgers she had never tasted, and drinking milk tea she hadn't had in over a decade.

That was the first time in her life she felt the gap between people was like a chasm, and how tiny she was in this city.

After arriving here, she almost couldn't find a good job because she had no education.

After working as a dishwasher for several months, the restaurant owner's wife took pity on her and used her connections to introduce her to this job at the real estate agency.

To save money, she bought the cheapest lunch boxes for meals. She couldn't even bring herself to buy a single cup of the milk tea that young people loved most.

She was often looked down upon or even mocked by other colleagues because of her extremely frugal lifestyle.

But she never expected that Jiang Cheng, a complete stranger, would reach out to help her during their first meeting.

Although Xiao Xia really wanted to decline, the blow of poverty made her unable to speak.

For someone who was sick of being poor, when there was a fortune that could turn her life around, why would she reach out and push it away?

Xiao Xia bit her lower lip and said gratefully to Jiang Cheng, "Mr. Jiang, thank you. I will definitely do my best. Please sit for a moment; I'll contact the owners of these properties right now."

Seeing Xiao Xia so excited, Jiang Cheng didn't react much. He waved his hand to signal her to hurry, then lowered his head to play with his phone.

She immediately turned around and jogged toward the supervisor's office.

After reporting the matter to the supervisor, he was also shocked, but he quickly reacted and immediately took out his phone to contact the homeowners along with Xiao Xia.

At this moment, hearing the commotion, the male agent's eyes showed deep regret.

He didn't expect that being lazy just this once would let someone else snatch such an opportunity. The male agent even slapped himself several times in remorse.

One must know that even for houses worth several hundred thousand, most people still need loans, let alone five million.

Holding his somewhat swollen and aching face, he looked at his phone.

Damn, he had even spent a hundred bucks for this photo, but the thing looked even worse than an abalone. It made him want to smash his phone.

If he had known, he should have gotten up to receive Jiang Cheng. Maybe those tens of thousands in commission would be his now.

If he had tens of thousands, would he still need to look through a phone screen...
