Not understanding it only makes it sound more impressive — and thus, more convincing…
As a lifelong fan of Naruto, Aoi knew everything there was to know: from events decades in the past to what would happen decades in the future.
He could recite almost every detail of the story — both what was shown and what was only hinted at.
"Ahh…"
He took a sip of water, opened a folding fan with a snap, and continued:
"To pick up where I left off — that masked man you call 'Madara' is not Uchiha Madara at all. The real Madara died long ago, and is only waiting for the right moment to be resurrected."
"Resurrected?"
As a seasoned Konoha jōnin, Kakashi was naturally cautious. He would not simply believe everything he heard.
Aoi didn't mind. He just smiled and shook his head.
"Not long ago, Konoha itself went through a great disaster. You saw how many people were brought back from the dead then — need I remind you how it was done?"
He was referring to the Samsara of Heavenly Life — the technique whose details Naruto had recently shared with the village.
"..."
Kakashi fell silent for a moment, then raised another doubt.
"But according to what we know, Uchiha Madara has been dead for far too long. The Samsara of Heavenly Life should no longer work on someone like him."
Hearing this, Aoi couldn't help but laugh aloud. "Hahaha! As the saying goes — amateurs look at the surface, but experts see what lies beneath!"
The Samsara of Heavenly Life could restore those who had died recently, bringing them back whole and unharmed.
But what most people didn't understand was that the "time limit" everyone spoke of actually referred only to how long it took for the soul to depart.
When a person dies, the Shinigami claims their soul and drags it down to the underworld…
If too much time passes and the soul drifts too far away, the technique becomes far more difficult and requires much greater power. But by the same logic…
As long as the soul still exists, how long the person has been dead doesn't actually matter at all!
"The soul?"
Before Kakashi could finish asking, Aoi grinned coldly and cut in: "Have the descendants of Konoha really grown so forgetful? What about the Impure World Reincarnation?"
Gulp…
No one present was foolish. With just that simple reminder, it all fell into place: as long as a corpse remained, the Impure World Reincarnation could summon the dead back into the world in a reanimated form.
Of course, it was not true resurrection — their strength was greatly reduced, and being trapped in a living state beyond death caused them constant, endless pain…
Yet despite all those flaws, it accomplished one crucial thing: it brought the soul back.
And once the soul was present, the Samsara of Heavenly Life could easily be used afterward — to fully and permanently restore that reanimated soul to life.
It was practically a glitch in the rules of existence!
Even more terrifying was that this principle might not apply only to Madara.
Judging from the power Nagato had used to bring the entire population of Konoha back to life…
Any shinobi who possessed the Rinnegan could, if they chose, revive every powerful warrior from history!
It was a revelation that shook them all.
If they had been completely skeptical when he first claimed to be Hashirama, now they were willing to believe at least half of what he said.
But then…
"What does any of this have to do with me?!" the Raikage roared, fists clenched. "Our village in the Cloud wants no part of your dirty Konoha affairs!"
Indeed, Kumogakure was the only major village in the story that had never produced a rogue ninja, nor had any ties to Akatsuki.
"Nothing at all, of course," Aoi replied calmly with a smile.
"I spoke of all this only to make you trust me enough to believe: your brother Killer Bee was never captured."
"WHAT?!"
The Raikage's eyes went wide. "Don't think you can spout nonsense just because you claim to be Hashirama! I saw it with my own eyes — Bee was taken right before the eyes of my men!"
Aoi chuckled. "Do you truly believe someone like Killer Bee could be captured so easily by a mere inexperienced boy?"
"Besides… this isn't the first time he's run off on his own," he added with a teasing grin.
"After all — octopuses are famous for leaving a tentacle behind to escape when caught, aren't they?"
The moment the words left his mouth, the Raikage's eyes snapped open in realization. He ground his teeth and bellowed:
"KILLER BEE — YOU COWARD! DON'T LET ME GET MY HANDS ON YOU!"
