Chapter 267
Gezgoth
Gezgoth clamped his mouth shut with immense force, echoing a terrifying impact that swept across the entire planet, as if existence itself shuddered. The deep ocean beneath him violently churned, waves rising like raging, restless monsters.
"Damn it… he almost killed me before the fight even started."
Arthur let out a ragged breath, tightening his grip on the hilt of his sword, a sharp, unyielding glare setting into his eyes.
"There is no power of heaven."
Power began to surge from deep within Arthur, like a volcano long suppressed.
{No judgment of heaven… and no ugly eye watching me.}
The flow continued, energy cascading relentlessly until his body was enveloped in an incredible force, as though existence itself bent around him.
{{And there is no one I need to care about right now.}}
A cold, exhilarated smile broke across Arthur's face, and his roar resounded as he faced Gezgoth head-on.
{{How I missed the feeling of battle… without a single damn burden on my shoulders.}}
With those words, Arthur raised his hand toward the high heavens, and energy erupted violently from his sword, looking as though it were about to split the entire world in two. The blade wailed through the air, sharp and terrifying, before being met by a roaring cry born from Gezgoth's movement.
Gezgoth moved through the water with unnatural speed, as if his body were weightless, cutting through the sea with every motion and launching himself like a madman. He kept moving, building immense momentum and terrifying speed, and as Arthur's blade descended, Gezgoth raised the tip of his tail, launching himself like a counter-rocket toward the strike.
{{Let's do this, you monster.}}
{{I will kill you, you wretched human.}}
Both roared at the same moment, and a deafening collision shattered Gezgoth's entire realm. The waves collided with unimaginable force, making the sea appear as if it were exploding in on itself.
{{You are strong.}}
Gezgoth's voice sounded strangely calm as he looked at his tail, a small portion of which had been severed.
{{The same goes for you.}}
Arthur looked down at his hand, having already lost two fingers, before raising his sword with deadly composure.
{{So… shall we continue?}}
{{As you wish, human.}}
In a fraction of a second, a thunderous crash resounded across Gezgoth's realm, as Arthur's sword repeatedly struck Gezgoth's sharp, rocky head without pause. Neither retreated, and the violent clash raged on endlessly.
Every now and then, Gezgoth would dive into the ocean for a fraction of a second, only to leap out again and resume the fight. Arthur knew that brief moment granted his opponent an opening, but he used it to catch his breath as exhaustion began to creep into his body.
The battle raged for nearly half an hour, without a single step back from either Arthur or Gezgoth.
That moment approached once more… a fraction of a second, right as Gezgoth was about to descend into the sea.
{{I won't let you.}}
Arthur roared loudly, gritting his teeth and enduring the pain, then raised his sword high toward the sky before bringing it down with unexpected lightness onto Gezgoth's head.
Gezgoth was not prepared for this move. Throughout the entire fight, Arthur had never attacked during the descent, using those moments to catch his breath. But now… he no longer cared about taking another breath.
All he wanted now was one thing: to kill Gezgoth.
In an unbelievable instant, Arthur's blade struck Gezgoth's head with terrifying force, cleaving it in two.
{{Finally.}}
{{You bastard.}}
Gezgoth shrieked in pain after a large part of his rocky snout was severed.
{{I will disfigure your body… swallow you, and defy the command of the Greatest One.}}
Gezgoth roared madly, then plunged into the sea and vanished.
"What is happening? He… he completely vanished from existence."
Arthur tried to sense his presence, but it was useless. No matter how hard he tried, he felt nothing at all.
Then he noticed something strange while hovering in mid-air.
"The water… it's receding."
Little by little, the ocean began to drain from the planet, yet Gezgoth did not appear. Arthur wanted to rush down and attack, knowing his opponent was trying to unleash his full power, but his body and mind refused to act recklessly.
First, Arthur did not know Gezgoth's true power, nor the nature of his transformation. He might release destructive shockwaves during the transformation that could crush his body.
Second, he could not afford to be reckless in front of one of the Great Old Ones.
And this wasn't just anyone…
Gezgoth was the grandson of Azathoth, the Great King, the Blind Sleeper.
As Arthur stood floating in the air, Gezgoth's entire planet began to tremble with increasing violence.
"Damn it… this bastard."
|What… what is happening, Arthur?|
"Damn it… damn it… damn it!"
Arthur compressed the air beneath his feet, soaring high into the sky as dark, pitch-black wings erupted from his back, propelling him at breathtaking speed toward outer space.
|Arthur, what is going on?|
{{This bastard wants to sacrifice his entire world… he is going to transform into a terrifying entity!}}
Arthur shouted as he surged upward without stopping.
Deep in space, Arthur halted and looked back at Gezgoth's planet, which had begun to shrink in size. Initially three times larger than Earth, it continuously contracted until it became the size of tiny Pluto.
And then… it vanished.
The planet vanished completely, and with it, Gezgoth.
He had swallowed himself along with his world.
At that moment, a crushing pressure descended upon Arthur's head and body from every direction. Space itself trembled, and the surrounding stars and planets shuddered. Then space tore open violently, and a celestial blue light emerged—beautiful yet horrifying all at once.
A strange entity moved at a speed impossible to track.
With the movement of the blue light… a star vanished.
Then another.
Then another.
The stars began to go out, one after another, like house lights being mercilessly extinguished.
{{Damn it… I am really going to die.}}
Arthur whispered, staring at his trembling hand.
