Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Qin Shiyao's Mission

As Su Ci stepped out of the Patrol Office, a familiar voice called from behind, making her stop.

Turning her head, she saw Qin Shiyao, who had changed into casual clothes with surprising speed, rushing towards them.

Su Ci wondered, "Captain Qin, is something the matter?"

"Director Wen forgot to give you your special permit earlier," Qin Shiyao panted, pulling four identification cards from her pocket.

Su Ci slapped her forehead, almost forgetting about it. She took the special permits and opened one to see the Sea City Patrol Office's seal, Wen Lingshan's signature, and contact number. It was only missing a photo to be officially usable.

Having a special permit and not having one were two different things. Without a special permit, she would have to go to the Patrol Office every time she fired a gun, meet Director Wen for tea, and couldn't even bring it directly on planes or other modes of transport.

Qin Shiyao looked at Su Ci, recalling the mission Wen Lingshan had just assigned her:

"Director Wen gave me a task: to stay by your side and assist with your work until the mission is perfectly completed. Miss Su, are you willing?"

She didn't quite understand why Wen Lingshan would do this. Su Ci already had Jiang Su, an Ancient Martial Artist, by her side, so why send her to protect Su Ci?

Furthermore, she was an Inspector, not a bodyguard. This mission felt a bit wasteful.

However, Wen Lingshan's next sentence instantly quelled her protests: "You just need to know that if anything happens to CEO Su in Sea City, the entire Sea City will be turned upside down."

This made her realize the seriousness of the matter and that Su Ci's identity was far more terrifying than the speculations among the wealthy families.

So she accepted the mission, treating it as a vacation for herself, and an opportunity to bridge the relationship between them during this time. Perhaps the Qin Family behind her could also gain some benefits.

Su Ci was quite surprised that Wen Lingshan would dispatch Qin Shiyao to her side.

After a moment of thought, she didn't refuse this icing on the cake.

Firstly, Qin Shiyao's favorability hadn't reached 90 yet, posing a risk of being captured by Ye Chen. Keeping her close was better than relying on chance encounters. Secondly, it could save a lot of trouble.

However, she still reminded her, "When I encounter trouble, my methods of handling problems might be a bit extreme. If Captain Qin can accept and understand that, then of course it's fine."

The novel's setting for Qin Shiyao, the female protagonist, was someone who hated evil and upheld justice impartially.

Even after becoming part of Ye Chen's harem, this point didn't change.

However, laws and regulations always have loopholes, and Ye Chen exploited them.

Su Ci couldn't tolerate being ridden over in the slightest. Now that she had power and influence, she didn't have the patience to wait for the law's insignificant punishments, or else she'd feel stifled.

If Qin Shiyao couldn't accept it and still stayed by her side, it would not only decrease her favorability but also annoy her.

Qin Shiyao smiled faintly: "When we're out, you don't need to call me Captain Qin; just call me by my name. As for CEO Su's concerns, we don't speak openly about certain things, but historically, there has always been an unspoken relationship between officials and merchants.

As someone from a wealthy family, I naturally understand the intricacies involved.

Joining the Patrol Office was my own wishful thinking, and it might not be without other intentions. Besides, with Miss Jiang here, there's not much I can do anyway."

Qin Shiyao's words also made Su Ci realize that the person in front of her was not as simple as the novel depicted.

However, it suited her perfectly, and she naturally agreed to Qin Shiyao's joining.

As a 24-hour companion, Qin Shiyao would naturally move into Su Ci's large villa.

Qin Shiyao needed to go to her apartment to get some daily necessities.

Su Ci handed her a spare key and told her the home address, then the three drove away.

In the car, Su Ci opened a cardboard box, took out a glock and a special permit, and handed them to Lan Wanting beside her: "Just in case, take this for self-defense. For bullets, two magazines should be enough each time."

The 700-gram glock felt heavy in Lan Wanting's hand, just like her mood at the moment.

She couldn't understand how Su Ci dared to give her a handgun.

Between the two of them, their relationship was merely a night of indulgence. To just give her a gun like this, how much trust did she have in her? Wasn't she afraid she would shoot her?!

What if she was one of Ye Chen's people?

She found that Su Ci's kindness towards her was becoming increasingly heavy, and she couldn't repay it all!

Su Ci waved her hand in front of Lan Wanting: "What are you thinking about?"

Lan Wanting shook her head, saying a little awkwardly, "Nothing, I just don't know how to use it."

"So that's it."

Su Ci understood; not all wealthy family scions learned how to shoot. Guns weren't used in Eastern Brightness; they focused more on cultivating hobbies, etiquette, social skills, and economic talent.

"It's okay, I'll teach you."

With that, Su Ci personally taught Lan Wanting how to use the handgun.

Using a firearm wasn't as complicated as imagined; it mainly involved loading, unloading, pulling the slide, disengaging the safety, and pulling the trigger. Just these few steps. As for hitting the target, if you're close enough, even a blind person could hit it a few times.

Lan Wanting looked at Su Ci's profile, her lips opening and closing, explaining the glock's usage with serious detail. Her heart skipped a beat. Her gaze shifted back to the gun; she absolutely could not fail Su Ci's teaching.

Before long, Lan Wanting mastered the knack, her movements fluid and practiced, only lacking aiming and shooting.

After teaching her how to use the handgun, Su Ci called out to Jiang Su, who was driving: "Sister Su, how about you teach Wanting how to use breathing techniques and ancient martial arts these next few days?"

Her own breathing technique was only suitable for Ciyang Physique owners and not for ordinary people. The original body, due to needing to inherit the family fortune, mainly studied business knowledge on Taixu Mountain, and was only half-knowledgeable in ancient martial arts. Otherwise, the system wouldn't only display a 'Intermediate Combat Skills' in the skill bar.

And Su Ci herself relied entirely on system points and unorthodox methods, which ordinary people really couldn't learn, let alone teach.

Lan Wanting, having taken the marrow cleansing pill, was considered half an Ancient Martial Artist. Without breathing techniques, it would be difficult to improve her physical quality by just exercising.

Su Ci couldn't possibly drag Lan Wanting into daily 'choral' dual cultivation. What about her body? What about the company?

This important task could only be entrusted to Jiang Su.

And Jiang Su's breathing technique was taught by that cheap grandfather. As far as Su Ci knew, that cheap grandfather was a congenital Ancient Martial Artist, so the breathing technique wouldn't be bad at all.

Jiang Su readily agreed: "Since it's Miss's request, then there's no problem."
