Chapter 3 - Understood

After waking up, his whole body felt weak. His ankles were healed, but his emotional scarring was just too big. He felt the sudden urge to scream and cry, but no tears or sound came from his body. He was pale, remembering each sound, scream, and scene. He didn't understand everything, as expected of an 8-year-old boy, but he sure did understand that his grandpa and mother were gone. He had no family now. He was alone in this world that was becoming darker and darker.

He slowly stood out of the bed and saw he was in a big room adorned with weapons of all sorts as five persons closed upon him. They were each very different. The one to speak first was a sweet lady who had white clothing adorning her body and a golden morningstar.

"How are you doing now? Are you feeling better? I just healed your wounds. Do you want some coffee? Maybe even a cup of tea?"

He sat down but did not show any signs of answering. He was scared and still processing a big loss.

Then, a guy without a shirt who was very muscular and tall said, "You have suffered great losses as well as we have. Your father was a very good friend of ours." He said this with tears falling out of his gentle yet scaring face.

The other three persons were about to talk but were too sad to speak.

The young lady spoke again. "You will be going to a new home. There you will meet a friend of ours. He will train you and help you get stronger. Maybe in a few years we will meet as comrades." She said this with a spark of hope in her eyes.

Still, the child was too weak to speak. Then, he started crying uncontrollably. Every tear was a representation not only of loss but also of anger, anger towards the creatures that messed his life.

In a cold tone, he said, "I will kill him. Every one of them."

He then stopped crying, but his fists clenched, knowing he had a goal in his life now.

Then, someone who was behind came forward. His blue eyes and cold gaze made Kael shiver.

"Use these emotions to train. Train every day and remember their faces. You will become strong. Make them suffer and pay."

Kael remembered these words. Even though he was only 8 years old, he was very mature, far above his age, and he understood every word clearly. He then looked upon the face of the blue-haired guy and told him, "Understood."

These words carried a lot of momentum, and everyone felt that they had seen something else, something important. They didn't show it, but they thought in unison, Vaelor, you raised a good kid, and a monster.

They said goodbye, and the boy slept in the bed he was lying in.

When he woke up, he felt like he was moving. He got up and saw he was in a carriage. The horses were walking at a steady pace, and there were five black figures, the ones that brought him.

They said to Kael, "Sleep. We have a long way to go to your destination."

He followed the orders and slept.

Five hours later, the carriage stopped in a green patch of grass that was surrounded by trees. In the middle of the patch of grass, there was a two-story tall house. A young man received him and told him to enter.

"Hello, young man. I am Darius. I will make you stronger, a monster."

This man was covered in a black wardrobe that was baggy. He had white hair, was very muscular, and seemed very strong. He had an eyepatch and wore what seemed like golden gloves, thick and heavy.

He then made him enter, gave a nod to the five men, and they swiftly disappeared.

The door closed, and everything became silent.
