Chapter 13 - They Wanted a Joke. They Got a Nightmare.

I returned to my apartment and quickly got dressed before leaving for school.

The academy was located in the upper district, a little far from the lower district where I stayed.

Thankfully, due to the presence of the bus, I could arrive on time.

Noticing Jane outside, I waved her off. She blew me a kiss, a sweet smile touching her lips as she waved me goodbye, a glint of anticipation in her eyes.

I shrugged internally, already knowing that we'd eventually fuck tonight.

If I wanted to maintain my class, I had to keep on fucking her and deepening our connection until it became permanently mine.

In the meantime, I quickly left the lower districts. The smell of waste, cigarettes, and lowlifes still clung to me like a second skin, however, due to the cool morning breeze, they were silently blown away.

In no time, I arrived before a large bus that was just about driving off.

I waved a hand, causing the guardsman who was about to close the bus to pause in his tracks.

I hastily boarded the bus as a group of people greeted my sight.

It was a mix of youths, elderlies, and children, everyone taking the free bus to their various destinations.

Finding a place to stand in the meantime, I held a pole as the bus glided slowly forward.

Time slowly dragged on as the morning skies continued being bathed in the golden hues of the sun.

Before long, the bus slowed to a stop and a few passengers alighted.

After a few more stops, the bus finally slowed again, and a massive, towering gate appeared in my line of sight.

Glancing at the gate from afar, I couldn't help marveling at its grandeur despite already seeing it countless times.

I briskly came down from the bus, glanced around, and began walking toward the massive gate with large strides.

Still, my shock didn't recede in the slightest. The thought of what kind of level one had to reach to achieve such heights made me extremely curious about the hidden strength of this world.

Could there be those who had strength above level 100?

And what of 200? Would someone of such stature be able to build such a structure?

Many questions popped into my mind as I quickened my pace toward the school.

Just as I arrived at the massive gate, the sight of the two guards stationed there entered my line of sight, and I paused.

No, my movements froze once more.

I knew I was going to face another round of embarrassment.

Clenching my fist, the shadows in the surroundings rippled and twisted unnaturally before calming down as I released my grip.

"Hopefully, no one crosses the line, or I'd be forced to use it," I thought grimly before finally taking the final step into the academy.

The gate had an automatic scanner that could differentiate awakened students of their schools, so the guards didn't bother to spare me a glance.

Their focus remained on the game they were playing.

Not minding it, I studied the surroundings, my gaze flicking to the distant expanse of grassland where I'd practiced previously.

'If I'd known, I wouldn't have done something so stupid.'

Still… I had to be thankful. If not for that stupid decision, a new world wouldn't have opened itself up so much to me.

That pleasing thought made me grow calmer as I increased my pace, heading further into the school.

The building of my class, Class-F, was located at the last end of the building block. As commonly known, it was a place of failures.

Unfortunately for me, as soon as I reached the final-year students' block, I began hearing snickers and laughter coming from the surrounding classrooms.

It didn't matter whether they were juniors a class or two below mine. They laughed. After all, the news had spread.

The videos recorded on their 4K watches had been posted onto the school forum.

Not only did students know, but even teachers were aware…

Aware of the disgrace of Class-F.

Aware of the angel who dared to fly too close to the sun, only to get burned.

"That's him, right? The toad trash courting swan meat!" a voice drifted from one of the classrooms.

Background sounds echoed… sounds of the familiar video playing from the speakers of one of the richer student's holographic display screens.

"You are lowering my market value just by standing near me…."

I clenched my fist and tried to keep my thoughts to myself even as all these voices filled my ears.

'There's no need to attack anyone. I can reach the classroom peacefully… I can do i—'

Just as I was trying to console myself, a sharp voice sliced through my thoughts.

"Look who we have here, guys…?" the voice snickered loudly, gesturing in my direction as a figure stepped out from the final-year Block C classroom.

Raising my head to glance into the distance, my pupils shrank slightly as I recognized Mark.

He was one of the lackeys who always tagged around Draven like a loyal dog.

The look in his eyes showed he was here for trouble.

At his words, the others laughed loudly, the sound making my fingers twitch ever so slightly.

"If it isn't the little toad," Mark continued, earning more laughter from the crowd.

Cameras were already rolling, and most students interested in the drama unfolding this morning quickly began recording the scene.

I raised my eyes to meet Mark's, and subconsciously he took a step back.

'Those eyes,' Mark thought grimly. They didn't look like the eyes of a normal human, but that of a monster that ripped out human eyes for breakfast.

They were so terrifying that they sent chills down his spine, causing him to take an involuntary step backward.

Suddenly, he realized who he was talking to.

'That's right. How can I be afraid of this F-grade trash?'

Gritting his teeth, Mark quickened his steps and in no time stood in front of me.

"You fucking F-class trash," he cursed under his breath, the thought of me making him step back flaring his anger.

The others behind him glanced at him in slight surprise, not understanding why he was overreacting.

Meanwhile, I hesitated for a moment, my hands twitching slightly as I contemplated whether to attack or not.

Finally deciding against it, I ignored Mark and continued on my way to my class. I was already running late, and since I'd missed lectures the previous day, I didn't want to increase my punishment any more than it already was.

"What? He really ignored Senior Mark!"

"Since asking Goddess Elena out, he's grown wings large enough to soar above everyone. He doesn't seem to know his place in the academy anymore."

Everyone gasped in shock at the sight of Kai ignoring Mark.

Instantly, Mark was enraged. His hand swiftly morphed into a claw and reached out to grab my neck.

Meanwhile, I was already on high alert… the shadows surrounding us twisted unnaturally… and before long…
