Chapter 50 - Hit and Run(not rlly)

Edward felt terrified as he closed in on Bella.

He was scared… scared of her getting hurt, or worse her dying.

He hadn't been honest with himself or Bella, but now he felt it, he didn't know if he could stay away.

Silas watched as Edward arrived beside Bella and reached out his hand to stop the truck.

Seeing the dent in the side panel of the car and then how he was completely unaffected he wondered how Bella had ever believed he was human.

As he was staring intently at the awkward interaction between Bella and Edward right before he walked away, he felt a pair of eye on him.

He turned to the side and met Alice's gaze.

Her eyes were wide with horror and fear.

Seeing her expression he felt bad. He shouldn't hide that he knows anymore, he needs a chance to tell her.

Just then Kate looked up from her phone.

"What happened!?" She saw the scene outside and asked in a surprised and confused tone.

Silas glanced back.

"Didn't you see?"

Kate shook her head.

"I was texting my sister telling her we were going to get food."

Silas turned his gaze forward again.

"Well, Edward saved Bella from a car crash."

Kate was confused.

"How?"

Silas glanced over at Alice, who was still frozen in shock.

"He was standing close by and saw the van go out of control then he pushed her out of the way."

Kate looked at the crash scene and nodded.

"Lucky!"

Silas nodded.

"Indeed."

Hearing what Silas had said, Alice finally woke up from her stupor. She looked over and saw Silas looking at her calmly.

He then raised his phone and typed something.

Silas text: We need to talk.

Alice looked at her phone then at Silas.

She typed back.

Alice text: Yes.

With that they drove out of the parking lot.

Kate saw this and felt a little anxious.

"Are we still getting food?"

Silas felt the corner of his lips twitching. How come I've never noticed that she's such a foodie.

"Of course." Silas said,

With that they drove towards the only restaurant in town.

Alice was sitting quietly the entire time. She was nervous, how would Silas take it?

He was calm now… but was that because he was unaffected? She didn't dare believe it.

How could you be? You just saw a person block a car head on with their bare hands.

She glanced over at his side profile. But… he was calm… maybe there was hope.

But the more she thought about it and the more she rationalized it… the less she believed it.

She was already getting ready to see the fear and disgust on his face. Would this be the end?

With that they pulled up in front of the restaurant, if it can even be called that.

More of a diner, maybe?

After Silas parked Kate was the first to step out.

"Let's go guys."

Silas smiled slightly and looked over at Alice.

"Let's go."

Alice saw his smile and was confused. Was he in shock? Denial?

But he seemed perfectly fine.

When they arrived at the restaurant entrance Silas held open the door for the both of them.

Kate stepped inside happily while Alice was just walking with her head down.

The contrast was clear.

After both of them stepped inside Silas followed. They walked over to a booth and sat down.

Before they could even start a conversation the waitress had already arrived.

"Hello, what can I get you?" She asked with a smile.

Kate smiled happily and said.

"I will take the hamburger, and for a drink I want Coca Cola."

The waitress wrote it down on her little note pad and turned to Silas.

"I will take the same."

The waitress then turned to Alice who was a little out of it. Seeing that all of them were staring at her she panicked.

"I will take a.. salad." She said.

The waitress wrote it down.

"Alright, the food will be out shortly."

They all nodded.

But Silas was confused. Why did Alice take a salad?

After thinking about it he came to the conclusion that he didn't care. He could feel her intense emotions using his divine sense.

She was clearly not in the right state of mind. But who could blame her?

Soon they got the food and started eating.

Before long they were all done… at least the ones who ate. Alice hadn't eaten anything; she had just moved it around.

Kate who had finished eating saw this and tapped Alice on the shoulder.

"Can I get that?" She said and pointed at the salad.

Alice was confused at first but when she realized she nodded quickly.

"Yeah, here." She pushed the bowl over.

Kate smiled.

"Thank you."

Silas watched this in surprise. How much could Kate eat?

"Kate, aren't you full after that hamburger?"

She looked up from the sallad and shook her head.

"I can eat a lot… and without gaining weight."

Seeing her confident and conceited expression Silas couldn't help but twitch his lips.

He didn't gain weight so he wasn't jealous… but there certainly are people who would be if they heard her.

They waited for Kate to finish the salad then walked out… Silas had to pay the bill.

Not that he cared, but you know, would be nice if someone else wanted to pay or… at least offered to pay.

They got into the car and headed for Kate's house.

As they drove down the country road Kate leaned forward between the seats and said to Silas.

"Thank you for the food, Silas."

Hearing that Silas smiled slightly. It was indeed nice to be appreciated.

"You're welcome."

Before long they pulled up in front of Kate's house.

"Thanks for the ride… and see you both tomorrow."

Silas waved as Kate stepped out of the car and walked towards her house.

When she had gotten inside he turned to Alice with a gentle smile.

"Where do you want to talk?"

Alice looked thoughtful… not with her usual silly face but with an uncharacteristic one.

She then turned to Silas and said.

"I got a place."

...
