The Iwagakure shinobi wore expressions of pure despair.
The Sun Disk's attack range was too wide. Its speed was too fast. Its destructive power was too overwhelming.
A single one of these things could completely flip the entire battlefield.
One Sun Disk was worth an entire army.
Even though Sunagakure had fewer numbers than Iwagakure and was being chased by the Leaf forces in a panicked retreat — clearly unprepared for another fight — while the Stone army had been fresh and waiting in ambush…
The moment the Sun Disk activated, Iwagakure fell into absolute disadvantage.
Countless beams of light rained down without mercy.
Orochimaru stared at the direction of the Sun Disk in shock.
"I knew my instincts weren't wrong."
"I knew Sunagakure wasn't that simple."
"I never expected the so-called Sun Disk to be this kind of ultimate weapon. It can even distinguish between friend and foe… this is insane. It's way beyond the level of any normal ninja tool."
"I doubt even the legendary Six Paths tools could pull something like this off."
"This thing… it could change the entire ninja world."
"How did Sunagakure even create it?"
The Leaf shinobi felt a wave of cold fear wash over them.
"That thing is terrifying!"
"Thank god it wasn't targeting us!"
"Thank god it was Iwagakure instead!"
Just moments earlier, the Leaf forces had been furious that Iwagakure was trying to steal their hard-earned victory. Now that anger was gone.
They were genuinely relieved.
If Iwagakure hadn't shown up, those beams would have been raining down on them instead.
"No… we have Hyuga scouts. We probably wouldn't have fallen for it."
"This was a trap, but the Byakugan would have seen it."
Thinking that eased their fear a little.
"Lord Orochimaru, what are your orders?"
Orochimaru took a deep breath.
"We're retreating. The situation has changed too much to keep fighting. Iwagakure has already collapsed. With that Sun Disk active, Sunagakure has the overwhelming advantage. We can't pursue them anymore."
"Send a team to observe the Sun Disk from a safe distance. I want as much detailed intelligence as possible."
The nearby ninja nodded.
"Yes, Lord Orochimaru!"
Most of the Iwagakure forces had already fallen.
Some died to the Sun Disk's beams. Others were cut down by the Sunagakure counterattack. The few lucky survivors scattered in every direction, fleeing in complete panic.
The Sunagakure forces had already begun their counteroffensive.
"Kill them!"
"They tried to ambush us — they're asking for death!"
"Don't let a single one escape!"
"Sunagakure will win!"
The Iwagakure army was utterly defeated.
Countless dead and wounded. Only a small number escaped. The rest were taken prisoner by Sunagakure.
When the frontline report reached him, Rasa looked at the numbers and smiled.
"There it is."
"The funds for the fifth Sun Disk… secured."
"The Sun Disk didn't disappoint me."
"Not only is it devastating against individual high-level opponents, it's just as effective against large numbers of enemies."
"Its killing efficiency is higher than most Kage-level shinobi. And not by a small margin either."
Rasa stored the report in his drawer.
Then he looked at his system panel.
[Points: 1000.]
"The seventh rumor's points are complete. That means I can do the final ten-draw and claim the big pity reward."
"This will push my Ōtsutsuki bloodline to 35%."
"Thirty-five percent… more than a third. I wonder if something special will happen."
A spark of anticipation flashed in Rasa's eyes.
He activated the draw.
[Congratulations, Host. You have completed your 100th draw and triggered the pity system, obtaining an S-rank item: 5% Ōtsutsuki Bloodline.]
"Use it."
The familiar surge of power flooded into Rasa's body once again.
His physique strengthened.
His chakra reserves expanded.
...
A faint stinging sensation appeared in his right eye.
Rasa could feel the eye slowly absorbing his chakra — not all of it, but only a specific portion, like a picky cat choosing what it wanted.
"This eye… it's evolving."
"But I have no idea how long it will take to finish."
Rasa removed his eyepatch and looked into a mirror.
A faint golden thread had appeared inside his right eye.
After a moment, he put the mirror down and replaced the eyepatch.
"Time to create the eighth rumor."
Rasa already had an idea.
The Hyuga clan.
To push the narrative that Hiruzen had sold out Jiraiya, Rasa had used the forged suicide note — and it just so happened to be written under Hizashi's name. That gave him the perfect foundation for the next rumor.
He could use Hizashi's death and that suicide note to create something even bigger.
"That's exactly what I'll do."

Iwagakure
Ōnoki was relaxing on the balcony lounge chair outside his office, soaking up the sun.
Ever since he'd gotten older, Ōnoki had grown fond of sunbathing. It felt like it burned away some of the old age and left him feeling younger and more energetic.
A gentle breeze blew past. Ōnoki squinted his eyes.
"Feels good…"
"I wonder how things are going on the front lines. Should be fine though. The main force is Konoha's anyway. We're just there to pin them down. They do the heavy lifting, we split the rewards evenly."
"I really am something else."
"Hiruzen Sarutobi calls himself a ninja hero, but he mostly relies on the people under him. Konoha has way too many talented shinobi."
"That's how they've stayed so strong all these years."
"If it was just Hiruzen, they would've collapsed a long time ago."
"But Iwagakure? We rely entirely on me."
"This village doesn't have many geniuses. I have to make every important decision myself."
"But fortunately, most of my decisions have been correct. That's why Iwagakure has reached where it is today."
"We're still ranked among the top villages."
"If Sunagakure loses this war, we'll lock in second place for sure."
Ōnoki glanced eastward.
"Kumogakure still hasn't joined the fight. They probably have no intention of helping Sunagakure. They're likely waiting for the perfect moment to swoop in and take the biggest piece for themselves — no matter who wins."
"But it'll either be Konoha or Sunagakure."
"The Fourth Raikage hates me with a passion, but if he has any sense, he'll know that attacking Iwagakure would be the worst possible move. Hopefully he's not that stupid."
At that moment, someone rushed in.
"Lord Tsuchikage! Bad news!"
Ōnoki opened his eyes and frowned.
"What is it?"
"Lord Tsuchikage… we lost! Over a thousand Iwagakure shinobi are dead. Many more were captured by Sunagakure. Even Lord Kitsuchi… he was killed by Sunagakure!"
Ōnoki shot to his feet.
"What?!"
