Before the head covering was ready, Rasa placed Neji directly in the Kazekage Tower.
An ANBU operative was assigned to watch over him.
The Crippled Jiraiya card was finished soon after.
Since there was only one copy, Rasa gave it special treatment. He made the card look extra refined and eye-catching—something that would grab attention the second it hit the table.
He handed it straight to the merchants.
For the hardcore fans of Ninja Kill, even a single new card was enough to spark massive hype.
The moment word spread, they started lining up.
The heavy fans drew in everyone else, and soon the entire crowd was talking about it.
"Jiraiya again?"
"Didn't we already get a Jiraiya card? Why another one?"
Someone nearby explained. "This one's different. Same name, but the abilities are completely reworked. People are saying it's actually really strong."
A few players shrugged it off.
"Another version of a card we already have? Even if they changed the moves, it's still boring. I want brand-new characters."
A fan shot back, annoyed. "If you're not interested, move. You're holding up the line. Some of us actually care."
"It's basically a brand-new card. New card means new strategies. That's more than enough to get excited about."
"Exactly. Plus we all want to see how this Jiraiya plays compared to the old one. Two Jiraiyas in the same game? That sounds fun as hell."
Another voice added, "It also opens up a bigger possibility. Maybe cards that already came out can return. Sunagakure might update old ones based on what actually happens in the ninja world—or even based on what players want."
When the fans finally got their hands on the card, the chatter exploded.
"You were right. Sunagakure really did make this new version because of what happened to Jiraiya."
"Jiraiya (Crippled Version). They made it because he got wrecked fighting Rasa and ended up crippled. Is this respect… or straight-up mockery?"
One guy shook his head. "I think it's respect. Look at the abilities. Nothing here insults him. If anything, it highlights how badly Konoha screwed him over."
"It's basically saying Jiraiya got betrayed by the Leaf."
"And even after the betrayal, he still stayed loyal. Never once badmouthed the village. Kept giving everything until someone else replaced him."
A young man stared at the card and sighed. "I was ready to jump straight into a game the second I got this. Now I don't even feel like playing."
"Jiraiya really is a great man. He sacrificed everything for the village. Even when he knew they sold him out, he never complained. Just kept fighting for them."
"Konoha was lucky to have someone like him."
"But Jiraiya was unlucky to be born there."
"I can't believe Hiruzen Sarutobi is actually that kind of person."
"Compared to him, Rasa is on another level."
"Even as an enemy, Rasa still spoke up for Minato because he respected him. And now he's doing the same for Jiraiya."
"He knows that proving the Leaf betrayed Jiraiya hurts his own 'strongest shinobi' title… and he still did it anyway."
"Insane character."
"Truly great man."
Iwagakure
Ōnoki stared at the card in his hand.
"This Rasa really knows how to play the game. He keeps hammering home that Hiruzen sold Jiraiya out. But what's his real goal? What does he actually gain from this?"
"Is he just trying to piss Hiruzen off?"
"Pissing off Hiruzen will only bring the full might of Konoha down on Sunagakure."
"Does Sunagakure actually want war?"
"Is this whole situation exactly what Rasa wants?"
"No. Impossible."
"No matter how strong Rasa is, and no matter how strong Sunagakure has become, they can't fight both Konoha and Iwagakure at the same time."
"This war will end in total defeat for Sunagakure."
Kumogakure
The Fourth Raikage received both the new Jiraiya card and a letter that had just arrived from Sunagakure.
"Rasa always shows respect to anyone he acknowledges—even enemies. If someone earns his respect, most people probably wouldn't mind dying at his hands."
"Jiraiya losing to him was actually a kind of honor."
"Still…"
The Raikage turned his attention to the letter.
"Sunagakure wants Kumogakure to send troops and join this war?"
"He and I—two young Kage—team up and make something big happen?"
"Change the entire ninja world's power structure?"
A spark of interest flashed in the Raikage's eyes.
But he didn't move immediately.
"Not yet. No rush."
Konoha
Hokage Tower
Hiruzen Sarutobi stared at the ANBU operative in front of him.
"Did you find anything?"
The ANBU shook his head.
"No, Lord Hokage. Nothing. Whoever did this was extremely careful. The copies first appeared in the inns just outside the village. All of them were disguised."
"I can feel something's off, but there's no trail to follow."
"It's like they knew exactly how we investigate."
Hiruzen's brow furrowed.
"They knew our investigation methods that well?"
Hiruzen knew the truth. He had never sold Jiraiya out. He had never ordered Hizashi to do anything, and Hizashi had already been dead before Jiraiya even fought Rasa.
That meant the suicide note had to be fake.
Who forged it?
Hiruzen had considered the Hyuga clan.
After all, the incident with Kumogakure had cost them heavily—Hizashi from the branch family and Sōchō from the main family.
"But if it was the Hyuga clan, they would have made it far too obvious."
"Could someone else be using this to drive a wedge between me and the Hyuga? Make me turn on them out of anger? That's possible."
"Or maybe the Hyuga themselves did it—trying to bait me into overreacting."
"There's also another possibility. Someone who hates both me and the Hyuga clan at the same time."
"Like… a branch family member who's had enough."
"However…"
Hiruzen's eyes narrowed.
"Whoever did this knows ANBU investigation procedures inside and out. A normal Hyuga clan member shouldn't have that kind of insight."
