Chapter 1 - The Rebirth

On the edge of a bottomless cliff,

Luo Suisui dragged her wounded body, staring at the dead end, despair flashing across her delicate and beautiful face.

"Run! Why aren't you running? Luo Suisui, you're quite something, managing to escape seven or eight grown men. Running is useless; the poison in your body has seeped into your bones." Su Wanwan's eyes were full of mockery.

Luo Suisui's weary gaze swept over her smug face. "Su Wanwan, why are you always targeting me?"

"I also want to ask why Gu Nanyan, knowing I'm the true heiress of the Luo family, still protects you time and time again." Su Wanwan said through gritted teeth, then smiled, "But it doesn't matter, he's already dead."

"So stupid. You heard there were spiritual herbs in that Devouring Land that could save you, and you actually went. And you died, hahaha."

"Didn't you like him?"

"But he never liked me. If I can't have someone, I'd rather destroy them than give them to you."

Seeing the pain on Luo Suisui's face, Su Wanwan became even more smug.

When they first met, Luo Sui Sui stood before her like a celestial maiden, instantly making her feel utterly insignificant.

She snapped, "Luo Sui Sui, you're a jinx! You never thought I'd kill Old Master Gu, did you? Who told him he only liked you and not me?"

Hearing this, Luo Sui Sui couldn't help but pick up a stone and throw it at her. "Su Wanwan, I always leave you a copy of everything Grandpa Gu gives me. How could you be so heartless?"

Su Wanwan dodged, laughing uproariously. "Your parents also died at my hands. Didn't expect that, did you? Who told them to want to do another paternity test after they got a new batch of medical equipment at the base?"

"I don't want to be exposed. Besides, I hate pretending to be such a sister to you."

If Gu Nanyan knew she wasn't a daughter of the Luo family, he would definitely be with Luo Sui Sui no matter what. Too bad, he's dead.

Upon hearing this, Luo Suisui was so enraged that she coughed up blood. "Aren't your parents good enough to you? They always seriously consider your opinions, and they've always given you the best things since you came back."

"Of course not. What do you have that I don't? Every time I see you disappointed and sad, even you, the real heiress, have to give way to me, and that makes me happy."

But she wanted to see someone like a princess kicked out of the Luo family even more. Unfortunately, her adoptive parents wouldn't agree.

She bent down and looked down at the person who looked like a rag doll. "But you should thank me for getting revenge on you. After all, when your mother gave you that cup of milk with an ability suppressant when you awakened your powers."

Su Wanwan slowly took out a white jade pendant from the neckline of her dress. "You didn't expect that, did you? The jade pendant I took from your room actually has a space inside."

"Sometimes I'm quite grateful to your family. It's you who made me the one supported by the base." Her

soft tone sent chills down Luo Suisui's spine.

She touched the charred thorns on her wrist, when suddenly a black, thorny vine shot towards Su Wanwan.

Su Wanwan's pupils contracted, a hint of fear in her eyes, but she quickly laughed. "I didn't expect that in just a few days, you'd already subdued a mutated plant. But what's the use? I have protective armor; you can't hurt me in the slightest."

At that moment, the several burly men who had been capturing Luo Suisui rushed over.

Su Wanwan crossed her arms and smiled contemptuously. "Here you go, but don't let him get away again."

Luo Suisui watched the approaching men, her cherry lips pressed tightly together. She activated her vines, tearing off the necklace around Su Wanwan's neck, and then, with her last bit of strength, leaped off the cliff. As she landed, she saw Su Wanwan's terrified face.

She would never let her things remain in Su Wanwan's hands.

Luo Suisui listened to the whistling sounds around her, slowly closing her eyes, waiting to see her family.

But she didn't notice a flash of white light in the thick fog.

The spacious bedroom was decorated with elaborate and luxurious yet simple décor. Every little item exudes exquisite craftsmanship and ingenuity.

A girl with slightly brown, curly hair lay peacefully on the bed, her features so delicate they seemed to have been sculpted by the goddess Nuwa. Long, curled eyelashes, naturally red lips, and skin as smooth as jade. Her eyes and brows were like a painting, bright and pure, like a fairy untouched by the world.

Luo Suisui suddenly woke up, cold sweat dampening the stray hairs on her forehead. Looking at the strange yet familiar surroundings, she murmured, "Is heaven this humane? It even conjures up my own room."

Just then, her phone rang on the bedside table. Luo Suisui picked it up and saw it was her father. Thinking of this, a tear silently slid down her cheek.

She hurriedly answered, hearing concerned words on the other end of the line.

"Suisui, is your cold any better? Daddy's coming home today."

"Yes, much better," Luo Suisui replied instinctively, her voice thick with nasal congestion.

Luo Wenyao heard her voice, which sounded like she was about to cry, and felt worried. "Then you should rest well. Dad is on his way home."

"Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Luo Suisui held the phone, lost in thought for a long time.

Suddenly, her hand went numb, and the phone hit her nose. Luo Suisui gasped, "Ouch."

She rubbed her nose, and the pain subsided, but then she realized something was wrong.

She could still feel pain even in heaven?

She pinched the soft flesh on the inside of her arm several times until it was red and tears streamed down her face.

She laughed through her tears.

Turning her head, she picked up the phone and saw the date. March 19, 2048. Had she been reborn?

Just like in the rebirth novels she had read?

On this day in her previous life, after her father returned, she learned that her mother had been in a car accident while on a research trip to a neighboring province.

Her mother was not seriously injured, but Su Wanwan lost too much blood after saving her, and her mother gave her a blood transfusion. In the end, the doctor's report said that they were biological mother and daughter.

Because of Su Wanwan's injury while saving her mother, her parents felt even more guilty and tried their best to make amends.

But Su Wanwan's words before her death made her instantly realize there was something fishy going on.

Thinking of her last actions before jumping off the cliff, Luo Suisui threw back the covers and ran to the dressing table, taking out the round, white jade pendant that resembled a Go board.

She held the pendant up, examining it closely. "Su Wanwan said there's a space inside, but how do I access it?"

"Do I have to do it like in novels, with a blood oath?" Luo Suisui muttered to herself, looking at her eyebrow razor, and without hesitation, cut her finger.

The pain made Luo Suisui's brows furrow slightly. Before the apocalypse, even a minor scrape would hurt terribly, but the apocalypse had toughened her up.

Drops of blood fell onto the jade pendant, and Luo Suisui saw a faint red and gold pattern appear on the white jade—a phoenix?

The suction force on the jade pendant grew stronger and stronger. Just as Luo Sui felt dizzy, the phoenix inside the pendant transformed into a stream of light and imprinted itself on her heart.
