Chapter 15 - Ch. 15. 95’ Once Again

The ball rolled slowly in the darkness; they heard it bounce on a stair like it was descending. The light from the big screen started to glitch then shattered in a loud explosion. They screamed in horror as they shielded their faces from piercing glasses. The hall and court went in chaos. Everyone is trying to leave the hall at the same time through the small door. Some got pushed, some stepped on so they protected their heads from their shoes. "Out of my way!" Principal Dawson shouted, pushing the students on her path in opposite directions. A girl got pushed and hit her head on metal chair in the session made for dumb souls; she passed out immediately bleeding from her head.

The scream intensified, just as they thought it was the worst they had seen; they heard something. Some had made it past the door and instead of getting out, they came back with something else, bad news. They heard the sound, too. The maintenance room inside the which was way too far to access creaked, the door handle clamp hard like something was trying to open it.

They were scared, with a lot of shuddering breath. A boy ran from the hallway, and he was shouting. "There is something wrong with the climate, it's not agreeing with my watch."

He saw them staring at the maintenance room. Immediately someone flickered a low light; the doors began to breathe. It was subtle metal expanding, hinges sighing but the lockers along the hallway started to tremble, their doors rattling like teeth, as if it had been waiting for the dark.

It went silent; the only thing that was heard was their ragged breathing. Someone, a boy, felt something was wrong. "Something got my feet." He said as he tried even hard to move. He was struggling to move and almost franticly. Till he was pulled, they watched in horror as he was swept of his feet and landed face first on the stair, his jaw and face sliced by the force, blood splattered on the stair, he was dragged into the darkness.

The rush to exit the hall resumed; this time fear and chaos became the trigger. Shadows stretched unusually out of the darkness; they stretched too far, pooled too deep towards the crowd trying to pass through the door. Principal Dawson had never seen such horror before, the wall shook and broke, the door fell giving more space for the elites to escape.

In the chaos, they heard someone screaming, she got pulled by the shadows, her only support was a support to a metal chair in the dumb soul section. She could hold on to that till someone came to her rescue but to her horror, the unconscious girl killed by Principal Dawson earlier moved. Her finger shook her damaged body rolled in a weird manner; her bloody face gave a weird smile. "Let's go into the darkness together." She spoke in a demonic deep voice then jumped at her. She screamed as she was dragged inside the darkness, until her voice was lost.

They spread and made sure they were far away from the gathering hall. Five girls went to the locker room, breathing hard; the fear was written all over their face and the environment. One of them, the eldest, assured them they would get help. The others were in all sense terrified with no hope of escaping. She said in confidence "As long as…"

She didn't complete her words when lockers burst open with a clang that shook the building. Shadows spilled out; it got her by the waist and dragged her inside the locker. The rest scrambled immediately as the shadows stretched like hands and grabbed two unlucky ones. The others watched as they were forced through the locker and vanished in the darkness. Someone bumped into them, knocking them down. It was a boy covered in blood, not his blood. He helped them up. "Stay away from the darkness." He said visibly shaking "head to the classroom, we are safe there"

They followed him in a hurry. Behind them was a long stretch of shadows crawling on the wall from dark opened door entrances after them. They took a sharp turn and entered a room with an emergency red light still on, not giving room for the shadows to creep in.

The class was just a few steps away; they saw other students calling them to hurry as they got the door open. They got it, heaving a sigh of relief. The room had a light turned on for emergency situations. They thought they were safe.

They heard movement on the roof like something was moving on it. It stopped then moved again this time the lights on the wall started swinging from left to right. They looked up ready to make the next move in case things went wrong.

The heard glass shattered loudly, they turned scared, another fell this time they saw the fluorescent bulb crash to the ground. Others follow in quick response. They screamed in fear; the distance between them grew shorter. One of them tried to open the door.

He turned the handle, but it didn't budge. It was stuck, and light came crashing to the ground remaining just one left. He turned the handle again and this time it opened but to their horror, the light flickered and turned. All the lights had gone out. Some turned on the light from their phones. Nothing happened; it was quiet.

They heard a soft creaking sound inside the class, like the desk was moving. A voice screamed from the back; the shadows are back; they pulled them into the darkness.
