The silence in the palace library felt heavier than before.
Lucien stared at Celestia and Naamah like they had just returned from the edge of the universe.
"Alright," he said slowly. "Start explaining."
Naamah walked past him and dropped into one of the large chairs beside the obsidian table.
"We just visited the worst family reunion in cosmic history."
Lucien blinked.
"That's not helpful."
Celestia stepped closer to the table, her expression thoughtful.
"We saw the First War."
Lucifer leaned against a pillar nearby, clearly interested.
"And?"
Celestia looked at him.
"It wasn't what Heaven claims it was."
Lucifer smiled faintly.
"I suspected as much."
Lucien rubbed his face.
"Can someone please speak in a normal level of mystery?"
Naamah raised a finger.
"Short version: the First War wasn't started by angels, demons, or mortals."
Lucien frowned.
"Then who started it?"
Celestia answered quietly.
"The First Ones."
Lucifer nodded slightly.
"Yes. The primordial rulers."
Naamah leaned forward.
"They weren't just rulers. They were walking catastrophes."
Lucien looked between them.
"So the universe used to be run by giant cosmic monsters fighting each other."
Celestia nodded.
"More or less."
Lucien sighed.
"Fantastic."
The Spirit Guide appeared again beside the table.
"But that is not the most important part of what they saw."
Lucien groaned.
"Of course it's not."
Celestia spoke again.
"My father didn't end the war alone."
Lucifer's expression shifted slightly.
"Explain."
Celestia placed both hands on the table.
"There were others with him."
Lucifer's eyes narrowed with curiosity.
"Others?"
Naamah nodded.
"They called them the Architects."
The room went quiet.
Lucifer straightened slightly.
"That name hasn't been spoken in a very long time."
Lucien pointed at him.
"Good. You know something."
Lucifer sighed softly.
"Yes."
Celestia looked at him.
"Then tell us."
Lucifer walked slowly toward the table.
"The Architects were ancient beings who helped your father create celestial law."
Lucien frowned.
"Why have I never heard of them?"
Lucifer answered simply.
"Because Heaven erased them from history."
Naamah smirked.
"That sounds about right."
Celestia studied Lucifer carefully.
"Why erase them?"
Lucifer's voice lowered.
"Because the Architects were not angels."
Lucien blinked.
"Then what were they?"
Lucifer looked toward the distant night sky visible through the palace windows.
"They were something… older."
The Spirit Guide continued the explanation.
"They were born during the final stages of the First War."
Naamah leaned back.
"So they weren't First Ones."
"No," the Guide said.
"They were created when fragments of First One power merged with the emerging structure of reality."
Lucien stared.
"Meaning they were basically cosmic engineers."
Lucifer nodded.
"That's one way to describe them."
Celestia frowned slightly.
"They helped my father create the laws that ended the war."
"Yes," the Guide said.
"But those laws also weakened the First Ones."
Lucien snapped his fingers.
"Which explains why the First Ones don't rule everything anymore."
Lucifer nodded again.
"Correct."
Naamah crossed her arms.
"So Heaven took credit for ending the war."
Lucifer smiled faintly.
"And erased the beings who actually helped."
Celestia's expression darkened slightly.
"Why?"
Lucifer's eyes met hers.
"Because the Architects believed balance required freedom."
Lucien frowned.
"That doesn't sound bad."
Lucifer continued.
"Heaven believed balance required control."
The difference hung in the air.
Naamah muttered.
"Ah."
Lucien sighed.
"Politics. Even at the cosmic level."
Celestia suddenly looked down again.
The child moved once more.
Stronger this time.
Lucien noticed immediately.
"He's doing it again."
Celestia nodded slowly.
"He reacted when the First One noticed him."
Lucifer's gaze sharpened.
"And now he reacts when the Architects are mentioned."
The Spirit Guide's light flickered softly.
"That is significant."
Lucien groaned.
"Everything is significant."
Celestia looked thoughtful.
"What happened to the Architects after the war?"
Lucifer hesitated for the first time.
"That… is complicated."
Naamah leaned forward.
"Oh good. More secrets."
Lucifer continued slowly.
"Some were destroyed during the final battle."
"And the rest?" Celestia asked.
Lucifer looked at her carefully.
"They disappeared."
Lucien frowned.
"You mean they died."
Lucifer shook his head.
"No."
He pointed toward the stars.
"They left."
Silence filled the room.
Naamah spoke first.
"They abandoned the universe they helped save?"
Lucifer shook his head again.
"They didn't abandon it."
Celestia suddenly understood.
"They're waiting."
Lucifer smiled faintly.
"Yes."
Lucien blinked.
"Waiting for what?"
Lucifer looked down at Celestia's abdomen.
"For balance to return."
The room fell silent again.
Lucien slowly processed that.
"…You're saying our kid might be connected to these Architects."
The Spirit Guide spoke carefully.
"That possibility exists."
Naamah stood up slowly.
"Oh this just keeps getting better."
Lucien groaned.
"So let me summarize."
He began counting on his fingers.
"Ancient cosmic monsters are waking up."
"Time-traveling war memories are reacting to our unborn child."
"And now we've got mysterious universe-building engineers who might come back."
He looked at Celestia.
"Did I miss anything?"
Lucifer smiled slightly.
"Yes."
Lucien squinted.
"What?"
Lucifer gestured toward the sky.
"The watchers."
Lucien looked up toward the window.
The faint glowing distortions still lingered in the night sky.
More of them now.
Quiet.
Observing.
Waiting.
Lucifer finished calmly.
"Because if the Architects truly are waiting…"
His voice lowered.
"…they may have just received their signal."
Celestia felt the child move again.
This time stronger than ever before.
And far beyond the stars—
somewhere hidden in the forgotten edges of existence—
something ancient suddenly awakened.
Not a First One.
Something else.
Something older than Heaven.
And it had just felt the heir of Balance grow stronger.
