Chapter 79 - Chapter Seventy Eight: The Doors of the First Judgement

Heaven did not panic.

Heaven calculated.

Deep within the Hall of Radiant Accord, where the High Order convened, the atmosphere had changed. The humiliation of the failed containment still hung in the air like a stain no celestial light could erase.

The Grand Adjudicator stood before the assembled council, his staff planted firmly against the luminous floor.

"The realms witnessed defiance," he said coldly. "But worse… they witnessed hesitation."

None dared disagree.

Across the chamber floated the projection of Celestia standing unharmed beside Lucien, phoenix fire blazing against celestial authority.

A symbol.

A dangerous one.

"The Neutral Realms are already debating our legitimacy," another celestial reported.

"And Hell?" asked one of the elders.

The answer came reluctantly.

"Lucifer is watching… and waiting."

The Grand Adjudicator's jaw tightened.

"Then we remove the problem entirely."

He turned toward a part of the chamber rarely acknowledged.

Massive doors of white stone stood there—covered in ancient sigils so old that even most celestials no longer understood them.

The Doors of First Judgment.

One of the elder celestials stepped forward sharply.

"No."

The word echoed through the chamber.

"We sealed those guardians for a reason."

The Grand Adjudicator's voice hardened.

"And yet the realms now doubt our authority."

Another council member spoke carefully.

"If we awaken them, the consequences will not be contained to Celestia."

"They were created to enforce the Father's law," the Adjudicator replied.

"Yes," the elder celestial answered grimly.

"And they enforce it without mercy."

Silence followed.

Beyond those doors slept beings older than the current celestial hierarchy.

The Seraphim of First Judgment.

They had once enforced divine law across the realms before Heaven adopted diplomacy and politics.

They did not negotiate.

They did not explain.

They judged.

The Grand Adjudicator lifted his staff.

"If Balance has created an unsanctioned convergence…"

The sigils on the doors began to glow faintly.

"…then First Judgment will determine its fate."

The elder celestial closed his eyes.

"You are awakening something even we cannot command."

The Adjudicator did not hesitate.

"Then let them judge."

The doors slowly began to open.

Light spilled from within—but it was not warm.

It was cold.

Ancient.

Absolute.

Far below in Celestia's palace, the Spirit Guide suddenly appeared beside her in a burst of silver light.

Lucien immediately noticed the difference.

The Guide looked… unsettled.

"That's new," Lucien muttered.

Celestia stood up from her seat slowly.

"What is it?"

The Spirit Guide's voice carried an unfamiliar weight.

"Heaven has opened the Doors of First Judgment."

Lucien frowned.

"That sounds… bad."

The Guide turned toward him.

"Before the current celestial order existed, enforcement of divine law was carried out by ancient Seraphim."

Celestia's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Judges."

"Yes," the Guide said. "But not like the council you saw."

Lucien crossed his arms.

"What's the difference?"

"They do not interpret law," the Guide replied.

"They are the law."

Lucien's phoenix fire flickered slightly.

"So Heaven just unleashed divine executioners."

"In simple terms," the Guide answered calmly, "yes."

Celestia's hand moved instinctively to her abdomen.

"And they are coming for my child."

The Guide did not deny it.

"They will not negotiate," it said. "They will not care about politics or reputation."

Lucien's eyes hardened.

"Good."

Celestia looked at him.

He cracked his neck slightly, phoenix flames sparking along his shoulders.

"I'm getting tired of people trying to kill our kid."

Before Celestia could respond, another familiar voice echoed through the chamber.

"Well."

Lucifer leaned against the doorway, arms crossed, looking genuinely intrigued.

"That escalated faster than expected."

Lucien groaned.

"Do you ever knock?"

Lucifer ignored the question.

Instead, his eyes shifted upward thoughtfully.

"The Seraphim of First Judgment," he mused.

"Even Heaven hasn't used them since the early ages."

Celestia studied him carefully.

"You knew they existed."

Lucifer shrugged lightly.

"I know many things."

Lucien looked unimpressed.

"Helpful as always."

Lucifer continued calmly.

"The interesting part is that they do not answer to the High Order."

Celestia's gaze sharpened.

"Then who do they answer to?"

Lucifer's smile turned faintly mysterious.

"The one who created the law they enforce."

The Spirit Guide's silver light flickered again.

"The Father of All."

Silence filled the room.

Lucien blinked.

"So Heaven just woke up angels that technically answer to Celestia's father?"

Lucifer's grin widened.

"Yes."

Lucien laughed suddenly.

"Oh that's going to backfire beautifully."

Celestia remained thoughtful.

"Not necessarily."

Everyone looked at her.

She spoke quietly.

"If they truly judge according to the original law… they may not see my child as Heaven does."

The Spirit Guide nodded slowly.

"That possibility exists."

Lucifer pushed away from the doorway.

"In any case, the Seraphim will arrive soon."

Lucien's flames grew brighter.

"Let them."

Lucifer's eyes flicked briefly toward Celestia's abdomen.

"Be careful what you wish for, Phoenix."

He walked toward the balcony, looking up at the sky.

"Because when the First Judges appear…"

The clouds above the palace began to spiral slowly.

"…they will not be coming to negotiate."

Lightning flashed silently across the heavens.

The air grew heavy with power older than the celestial courts themselves.

Lucien stepped beside Celestia.

"Looks like the next round is starting."

Celestia watched the sky darken.

Her voice was calm—but resolute.

"Then let them judge."

High above the realms—

beyond Heaven's gates—

six immense figures of radiant fire unfolded their wings.

And the First Judges began their descent.
