Chapter 35 - Chapter Thirty Four:Betrayal from Within

The mansion lay quiet again, but the calm was fragile, like ice over a dark abyss. Celestia paced the grand hall, her hands glowing faintly with living Balance. Lucien and his ancestors watched the shadows outside, every sense alert.

"She's restless," Lucien's uncle muttered, glancing at Celestia. "Not the usual calm before battle. Something stirs inside these walls."

Celestia froze mid-step. She could feel it now—a subtle shift in the air, a heartbeat that didn't belong to any of them. Her aura pulsed instinctively, and even Lucien's phoenix stirred nervously on his shoulder.

"It's not the Void," Celestia whispered. "It's… someone inside."

Lucien's eyes narrowed. "Impossible. All trusted allies are accounted for."

The unicorn stepped forward, horn glowing faintly. "Appearances deceive. The dark angels are cunning. One among your circle has been compromised."

Celestia's pulse quickened. "Compromised? Who?"

Before Lucien could respond, a low hum filled the hall. One of the servants—the quiet, unassuming maid assigned to help Celestia—stepped forward. Her eyes glimmered silver, unnatural and cold.

"Celestia," she said softly, voice sweet and melodic. "I… I came to warn you."

Celestia's aura flared. "Warn me? About what?"

The maid's smile faltered for a fraction of a second, replaced by something sharper, calculating. "About your guardians. They… they do not wish for your freedom."

Lucien's phoenix screeched, wings flaring. "It's a trap!"

The maid's form shimmered, revealing jagged wings of shadow and silver light—the unmistakable signature of the dark angels. She had infiltrated them, posing as a loyal servant.

Celestia stepped back, heart pounding. "How… how could I not sense this?"

The unicorn lowered its head. "The bond you share protects you from external manipulation, not subtle internal corruption. Trust is a weapon—and they intend to turn it against you."

The dark angel maid advanced slowly. "Your bloodline is a beacon, Celestia. It calls to all who wish to rise. Follow us, and your power could secure your place among the heavens… or the void. Resist, and you will fall with them."

Celestia's hands glowed brighter, aura flaring violently. "I will not be a pawn."

Lucien stepped in front of her, blade and phoenix flames at the ready. "I told you… no one touches you."

The dark angel smirked. "He is weak, as are the others. You will see soon enough. Even those you trust can betray you."

Celestia's gaze hardened. She took a deep breath, channeling every shred of living Balance in her veins. Light swirled around her, intertwining with the flames of Lucien's phoenix and the power radiating from his ancestors.

"Enough," she said, voice echoing through the hall like a clarion bell. "I am not yours to command."

The false servant lunged, shadows twisting violently, but Celestia's aura expanded. The mansion itself seemed to respond, walls shimmering with the energy of her bloodline. The dark angel's attack slammed against the radiant barrier, fragments of shadow dissipating in screams of frustration.

Lucien roared, flames erupting, striking the dark angel with precision and fury. The ancestors struck in unison, their combined celestial and infernal power tearing through the infiltrator.

The dark angel hissed as she was forced back. "You may survive… today. But the war is far from over. Others are ready. They watch. They wait. And soon…"

Her voice faltered as she was thrown backward by a surge of energy. She dissolved into shadows, leaving only a faint silver shimmer that hinted at her true origin.

Celestia sank to her knees, exhausted but unbroken. "They… they almost succeeded."

Lucien knelt beside her, placing a hand over hers. "But they didn't. You see? Together, nothing can take you down. Not the Void, not Heaven, not Hell, not even the dark angels' schemes."

The unicorn nudged her shoulder. "Remember this lesson. Trust is precious. Use it carefully. Every being in this war—friend or foe—has an agenda. Only the bond you share with him remains untouchable."

Celestia inhaled, rising to her full height. Her aura flared, intertwining with Lucien, his ancestors, and the phoenix. "Then let them come. Every scheme, every trap, every betrayal… we will face it. Together."

High above, the dark angels regrouped. "She is resilient… stronger than anticipated," one whispered. "But her bloodline is the key. And we will find a way to turn her power to our favor."

Lilith smiled faintly, watching the aftermath unfold. "The game grows ever more delicious. Let us see how long they can resist before the first crack appears."

And in the shadows of the Void, a whisper pulsed through the night:

She fights well… but the truth of her origin remains the ultimate weapon.

The battle was far from over. And now, the stakes had become dangerously personal.
