Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: Trading

Chapter 79: Trading

After receiving the gym badge, Ash and the others were not in a hurry to leave, but chose to stay for a few more days for two reasons: one was to freeload off Gary, who was traveling and had booked a nice hotel; the other was because Ash sensed a powerful Aura deep within Cinnabar Island.

This Aura was similar to the Zapdos he had sensed earlier at the abandoned power plant in Vermilion City. As expected, there was a Legendary Pokémon in the volcano of Cinnabar Island.

Ash guessed that this one should be Moltres, one of the First Generation Starters. He remembered that Blaine was once saved by Moltres during a mountain climbing trip. (Game version of Blaine)

Hotel at the foot of the mountain.

Gary secretly approached Ash and asked, "Ash, do you have a channel to acquire super evolution stones?"

Ash glanced at him and asked, "What do you want to do?"

"Help me get two, no matter the cost!" Gary pleaded.

"Why don't you ask your grandpa? Why are you looking for me?"

Ash was very confused by Gary's behavior. He could indeed draw super evolution stones using the system, but Gary obviously had Professor Oak as his backer, so there was no need to look for him!

"I've contacted Grandpa. The research data on Mega Evolution is not yet complete. Even Dr. Platane from the Kalos region has difficulty collecting super evolution stones for research, let alone the Blastoise or Scizor super evolution stones I need."

If it weren't for the difficulty of collecting the super evolution stones he needed in a short period through all channels, Gary wouldn't have asked Ash, his rival, for help.

Ash looked deeply at Gary and mused, "Blastoise and Scizor's super evolution stones, it's not impossible to get them for you..."

"Really?" Gary was overjoyed.

"As a price, you help me inquire about the information of Lugia, the Guardian Of The Sea, from the Sakuragi Research Institute, and you have to help me find two more useful Legendary Pokémon information."

Although there were still more than two years until the Sinnoh League, Ash still had to prepare for the Legendary Pokemon Master's collection quest.

That quest was mandatory, and there would be penalties for failure, but the rewards were unlimited, so Ash planned to capture as many high-level Legendary Pokémon as possible.

The Oak family has considerable influence in various leagues, and asking them to help collect information could save a lot of time.

"Legendary Pokémon? You're asking about this, you're not thinking of catching them, are you?" Gary looked at Ash suspiciously.

Ash waved his hand and said, "Don't worry about that. Anyway, you get me the information, and I'll give you the super evolution stones."

"Alright, I'll give you Lugia's information in a few days."

"Okay."

After Gary left, Ash began to inventory his existing stock.

He did have quite a few super evolution stones: four for the First Generation Starters, with Charizard accounting for two of them. One of them was recently refreshed in the system mall, which Ash bought for 50,000 points, and the other three were system rewards.

Then there were Gardevoir, Lucario, and Alakazam, which were also system rewards (Alakazam's was given by the system after hatching and capturing the Pokémon egg; the hatching process was briefly mentioned before and is now supplemented).

There was also one he picked up from Steelix and the Altaria super evolution stone that was currently idle.

"Forget it, I'll find a chance to draw a prize and see if I can get a few more super evolution stones."

Ash did not intend to use the existing Blastoise super evolution stone for trading. He had already concluded that the items rewarded by the system for his Pokémon were of extremely high quality and perfectly compatible with his Pokémon.

Night fell.

Ash temporarily entrusted Togepi to Misty's care and left the hotel with Pikachu.

"Pika?" (Ash, where are we going?)

"To find a powerful Pokémon," Ash replied.

Then he threw out a Poké Ball: "Charizard, come out."

"Pika Pika Pika Pika?" (Is there a new partner joining?)

"We'll see. If it's suitable, it will be a new partner. Charizard, fly towards that volcano."

Ash pointed to the most remote volcano on Cinnabar Island.

"Roar!"

Charizard flapped its wings, carrying Ash straight into the sky.

Before long, Charizard carried Ash to the top of the volcano.

Ash calmly sensed for a moment, then pointed to a cave entrance less than twenty meters from the magma layer and said, "Charizard, do you see that cave below? Fly there."

Charizard understood and descended rapidly towards the cave entrance.

After entering the cave, Ash hadn't gone far when he saw a concave area resembling a bird's nest.

And within that nest was a large bird, nearly two meters tall, covered in flames.

[Pokémon: Moltres]

[Attributes: Fire ♦ Flying]

[Gender: Genderless]

[Level: Elite Advanced]

[Divine Position: None]

[Ability: Flame Body]

[Aptitude: Secondary God]

[Skills: Safeguard, Agility, Wing Attack, Roost, Ancient Power, Brave Bird, Heat Wave, Overheat, Sunny Day, Burning Jealousy, Fire Blast, Fire Spin, Flare Blitz, Ultimate Impact...]

Ash could tell from Moltres's size that this Moltres had not yet truly matured; a truly mature Moltres would be at least 2 meters tall.

However, even without being fully grown, this Moltres actually had the strength of an Elite Advanced, and its aptitude was also that of a Secondary God, which was more powerful than the Zapdos he had caught before.

"Moltres, I'm going to catch you!"

Ash shouted loudly at Moltres.

"Caw!"

Hearing Ash's words, Moltres let out an angry cry. In its opinion, Ash was deliberately provoking it.

"Charizard, Pikachu, I'm counting on you," Ash said.

"Pika!"

As Pikachu was full of fighting spirit and about to enter the battle, Charizard extended a finger and shook it, signaling that it could handle it alone.

"Pika?" (Can you do it?)

Pikachu asked doubtfully.

Bang bang!

Charizard patted its chest, then pointed to the super evolution stone on its neck to Ash.

Ash also understood Charizard's thoughts and said, "Okay, then I'll leave it to you, Charizard."

"Roar!" (No problem!)

Charizard spat a mouthful of flames into the sky, then confidently flew in front of Moltres.

"Alright, Charizard, use Flamethrower to greet Moltres!"

Following Ash's command.

Charizard spewed a scorching stream of flames from its mouth, attacking Moltres.

Moltres, facing the incoming flames, showed no sign of fear and chose to meet the Flamethrower head-on with its own.
