Fasting (Sawm) means abstaining. From dawn (Fajr) until sunset (Maghrib), Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, and bad actions.

The main purposes of fasting are:

To feel empathy for the poor and needy

3. Importance of Ramadan

The Holy Qur'an was revealed during this month.

It contains a special night called Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Decree), which is better than a thousand months.

Rewards for good deeds are multiplied greatly during Ramadan.
