Chapter 1 - The four limbed

The meteorite entered Earth's atmosphere at 2:17 a.m., tearing across the western sky in a blaze of violent white light before striking the coastal region of California with a force strong enough to register on seismic monitors across three states. The government Demobolized the News outlets as everything was framed to be just a minor disturbance in the atmosphere all to cover what scientists were cautiously describing as the most significant discovery in human history. Preliminary scans of the impact site revealed complex biological structures embedded within the object structures that did not match any known terrestrial organism. Federal authorities moved quickly, sealing off the crash zone under the justification of environmental hazard control, though reports from local responders suggested something far less ordinary. Several emergency teams had reportedly lost contact shortly after entering the perimeter.

Today was a quite special day, at least that's what it seemed like or that's what Marcus thought it seemed like. He sat down on the couch, the laugh track of a sitcom show filled the air and bustled the living room. The world outside felt normal and went around it's usual routine, the occasional sound of train and siren being the evidence of this fact.

He held the television remote in his left hand and ran a hand on his hair, an unnatural shade of green strands twirling around his fingers. It wasn't dyed or altered no... Marcus's hair was just green from the onset.

"Your father's hair was that color" his mother would tell him and when he asked why was that she simply said that she didn't know why.

The suddenly, the Television cackled and then a writing appeard on the screen, it came with a deep red glow that filled the darkened room.

EMERGENCY BROADCAST!

It said and Marcus's breath hitched. This wasn't even the news channel...so how was it appearing here? He immediately tapped on the remote to change the channel, same thing.

"Honeyy did you change the channel?!" His mother called from the kitchen where she was making dinner.

"No!" he answered yelling so that should could hear him clearly.

The writing swipped in an animated movement revealing a news anchor.

"We interrupt your shows to bring you Emergency news. This is not a drill! It's been reported that earth is experiencing series of cataclysmic events all around the globe. The scientists are still trying to decipher this fact and some have speculated that this is mother nature's way of fighting back whilst some are claiming that it is some kind of Alien invasion. Here are feeds we have gotten from our colleagues in affected part of the world"

"Mom...!?" He called and his mom, a plus sized brown haired woman with happy eyes walked into the living room and then carefully with her gaze at the television sat at the edge of the couch.

The feed swiped to a video of a coastal city, it seemed normal at first then a sudden implosions happened as if the earth decided to open it's wide mouth swallowing the standing buildings and the whole city.

"Oh my God is this real?" She gasped, tilting her head in disbelief, Marcus didn't answer...he was also finding it hard to believe.

The feed swiped again to yet another city, which in turn seemed normal at first, it was located at a beach side. Then suddenly in a flash the water rose and swallowed the vity whole in one quick unfathomable flash. Nobody had time to escape.

"What the ..." He said as he sat tensed up, sitting up straight. His mother held his hand caressing it nervously.

The feed shifted again to show a tropical groove city, Marcus recognized Hawaii instantly, it was afterall where he had spent his childhood.

"Oh no" he said as he sat waiting for the calamity to fall but the feed was changed immediately back to the news anchor, he sat with his hand on the comm in his ear, nodding and then he faced the camera with a deep distressed look on his face.

"Reports just came in that there has been sudden sightings of weird creatures...in strategic places in the world...This confirms the Alien theory and akso the new theory of Apocalypse it states that earth might be wiped out in the next year by these advanced creatures"

The feed panned to the video of a four limbed creature, crouched like a dog with strings of numerous cannine teeeths occupying most of its face, it had no eyes, it then roared at the camera and hurried along. The building quaked, the catalyst was obviously in thier area.

Marcus looked at his mother, she sat still in the darkness, unshaking but her lips and eyes quivered with fear.

"Mom?" He called, shaking her lightly, she slowly turned her head and sobbed.

"We have to leave" she said. "You have to leave..." She muttered and then she stood up apburtly and ran to the steps upstairs and he heard her go iñto her room, rustle something in her room and trample down the steps down and then she hurried into view.

Marcus stood up and hurried to meet her, she looked shaken and in shock.

"What's wrong?" He asked and then she started crying, hugging him tightly and dearly.

"The Feare-killers they are here" she said between sobs and then she broke out from the hug and kissed him on his cheek and then brought a snow globe into view, handing it over to him.

"Whenever you are in trobule break it" she said struggling to maintain her voice now. A violent quake happened again, the tremor stronger and intimidating and then a sound caused them to be aware.A growl of some sort..the same one they had heard from the creature in the TV.

"It's here!" She whispered and even him knew he should be quiet even though he was confused as hell.

The steps of the creature above came slowly now, they followed the sound of its movement and the wood groaned beneath its weight. Each step was deliberate, dragging, as though something heavy was adjusting to the structure of the house. Marcus swallowed, his fingers tightening around the snow globe. His mother slowly moved in front of him, one arm stretched protectively across his chest. "Don't move," she whispered. "No matter what happens, Marcus… don't move."

The growl came again, closer now, wet and layered, like multiple throats vibrating at once. A scraping followed — claws dragging across the upstairs hallway. The stairs creaked. One step. Another. Then it descended into view. Marcus's breath hitched violently. It crouched low on four limbs, its proportions wrong, its spine arched too high with bones shifting beneath slick gray skin. Its head tilted unnaturally, and its mouth — God — its mouth was a cavern of overlapping canine teeth layered in chaotic rows. It had no eyes, yet it faced them directly. Its nostrils flared as it inhaled.

"Please," his mother said, her voice trembling but steady. "He's just a child."

The creature twitched, and then it moved. There was no warning. No hesitation. One moment it stood at the bottom of the stairs, the next it was on her. Marcus did not see the leap, he heard it ....a sickening, wet crunch. "Mom!" The creature's jaws clamped around her shoulder, teeth sinking deep with a horrific tearing sound. It did not maul her like an animal;no...Animals were slow while eating thier food...it gnawed, fast, impossibly fast. Its jaws vibrated, shredding flesh in seconds. Blood sprayed across the walls..the floors and him in violent arcs, his stomach twisted. He knew this moment would be embedded into his skull forever.

His mother screamed, but the sound did not last long. The creature dragged her down with it, its teeth working with terrifying efficiency, chunks of flesh disappearing as though devoured by something mechanical. Marcus stumbled backward, horror paralyzing his limbs. The snow globe slipped in his sweaty hands but he caught it before it fell. He could not move. He could not breathe.

His mother's eyes found his. They were already fading. "Marcus…" she choked, blood pooling at her lips. "Follow the society, they will find you…" Her voice trembled, barely audible, swallowed by the wet sound of gnashing teeth. The creature's head jerked violently, tearing through her throat. Her body slackened instantly.

Silence followed, broken only by chewing.

Marcus's ears rang as the world narrowed into a tunnel. The creature lifted its blood-slicked head slowly, its mouth red, its teeth glistening. It sniffed again, and this time its head tilted differently ..as if it was curious For him. Marcus staggered back until his shoulder hit the wall. His chest tightened painfully as something sharp and hot built beneath his ribs....his mom was dead! And there was no coming back.

Run.

The word was not a thought, it was instinct. The creature shifted its weight. Marcus turned and bolted. He did not look back. He ran through the hallway, past shattered frames, past the couch where he had been laughing minutes ago. His mother's blood was still warm on his shirt. Behind him the creature screeched, an enraged distorted sound that shook the walls. He ripped the apartment door open and fled into the night, the snow globe still intact in his trembling hand.
