"Get down!"
Scorpion's command cracked through the bakery just as the first gunshot shattered the glass.
The window exploded inward in a violent spray of fragments, and the warm, sweet-smelling air of the shop was replaced by the sharp sting of gunpowder and chaos. Alex dropped instinctively, pulling Pepper down with him as Pryde crawled across the flour-dusted tiles toward them. Another shot rang out, then three more in quick succession, and the sound multiplied outside as if the street itself had erupted.
It was not only the "homeless man" nope...they were much more and the numbers were quite large for a small group of seven.
Numerous shapes emerged from behind parked cars, from alley mouths, from behind refuse bins and street poles. Men who had been waiting in stillness suddenly came alive with terrifying coordination. The ambush unfolded with such precision that it was clear this had been studied, planned and rehearsed.
"Upstairs! Now The three of you!" Scorpion barked.
