Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Bloodbath

"Brother Lin, I hope I didn't disturb your rest?" After the others left, Boss Hu turned around to look at Jack and asked, his expression quite calm.

"It's fine, I just fell asleep!" Jack smiled. As he turned back to the bed under Boss Hu's somewhat gloomy gaze, he saw Lingling and Axue holding each other's wrists and smiling sweetly at him. Just as Jack was about to tease them, he suddenly noticed Mikael, who was dozing on the ground, springing up with his entire body. The fur around his neck stood on end, and he bared his thumb-thick fangs, growling fiercely towards the exit.

"Ah…"

Before Jack could ask, a scream came from the ground, unmistakably belonging to Old Ma.

"Damn, he really turned into a zombie!" Boss Hu angrily ran out of the room again, now holding a long-handled machete. His eyes were wide with fury, but despite his fierce words, Jack could clearly see a hint of unmasked fear in his eyes.

"Xiao Si, go check what's going on!" Boss Hu pointed at a young man beside him who was hurriedly putting on his shoes. The young man trembled, sat down on the ground, and stuttered, pointing at his own nose in disbelief, "Boss, me… me?"

"Who else could it be? It's not like I'm asking you to go chop up a zombie; why are you so scared?" Boss Hu glared fiercely, raising the machete in his hand. The meaning was clear: if Xiao Si didn't go, he would definitely deal with him before the zombie. Xiao Si had no choice but to get up from the ground with a pale face, pick up a sharpened steel bar, and slowly make his way towards the exit, step by step.

At this moment, those who had been sleeping near the exit had already cleared a large space, all nervously huddling towards the inside or the sides. Xiao Si, walking in the middle, looked at the tightly packed people on both sides, realizing that their eyes were clearly looking at him as if he were a dead man—there was no sympathy, no pity, just a hint of relief that they were not the ones chosen.

On both sides of the exit, a fire pit has been burning for years, and the dim light from the flames is unable to illuminate the dark passage. Xiao Si slowly placed one foot on a section of the stairs, and a large amount of cold sweat dripped from his face onto the cement steps. The entire basement was silent, with not a single sound. People collectively held their breath, waiting for Xiao Si's next move, and even the firewood in the pit seemed to have agreed to remain quiet, not making a single crackling sound.

The dark passage was like the mouth of a terrifying giant beast, as if it could pounce out and devour anyone at any time. Xiaosi wiped the cold sweat that kept coming out of his forehead with his sleeves, but the cold sweat could never be wiped away. It wiped out again, wiped out again, until When Boss Hu impatiently urged him from behind, Xiao Si took a deep breath and put on a long iron spear leaning against the wall. He seemed to feel a little more secure, and finally walked up the second set of stairs with legs that seemed to be filled with lead.

"Gugujijiji..."

There was a strange sound coming from the stairs, like a person sucking a juicy tomato with his mouth. This sound was particularly obvious and strange in the quiet basement.

Xiaosi's scalp went numb for a while, and he didn't put down his foot that was about to hit the third leg. If it were a peaceful day, he wouldn't think much about it, but in this situation, for a quasi-veteran with a year of survival experience, there is only one thing that can make such a sound, and that is that the living corpse is sucking the most delicious part of the human body-the human brain.

Xiaosi stood on the stairs and turned around stiffly. His last trace of courage was completely wiped out by the terrifying sound. He wanted to run away, even if he was hacked to death by Boss Hu, because it was better to be hacked to death than to be bitten to death.

"Shua..."

A head with hot blood fell from Xiao Si's body and rolled away. Thomas stared in disbelief. Xiao Si's headless body was still running forward subconsciously, but before he could run two steps, the headless corpse fell to the ground with a "thud". The bright red blood from the artery in the neck spewed out seven or eight meters away, and happened to spray the head and face of the man closest to him.

Everyone was dumbfounded, even the man who was sprayed with hot fresh blood. No one expected that Xiaosi's head would suddenly move without warning. They had just imagined countless scenes, or they would be jumped out by two zombie-turned-hadron men, or they would sneak back after taking a sneak look. But no one could have imagined that with just a flash of black shadow, Xiaosi's head would be separated from his body in an instant.

"Ah…"

The man who was sprayed with blood finally let out a scream that was sharper than the woman. The sound was hysterical and seemed ten times more miserable than having his anus exploded.

There is no doubt that for a grown man to scream like this, he must have been frightened to the extreme. Perhaps his scream resonated with everyone. Some men and women who were close to him began to scream at the top of their lungs regardless of their gender, and tried their best to get back.

But everyone was already packed tightly enough, and any further squeezing would only cause chaos. So for a moment everyone was in a mess, screaming and running backwards without any purpose. But there was only one passage, right behind the headless corpse. No matter how much you ran backwards, it was useless. You could only get more crowded and more chaotic, and the more chaotic you were, the more frightened you became.

Fear always spreads quickly, and everyone instinctively crowds into each other. Even Boss Hu, who was standing in the middle, slashed several people in anger but failed to stop the riot. Instead, he was so crowded that he couldn't even lift his knife. He was so angry that he couldn't help but roar in the crowd.

At some point, there were several more headless corpses on the outermost ground. The hot fresh blood splattered in all directions increased the panic of the crowd. Some men could no longer care about the weak women around them. They punched and kicked them and threw them behind them in an attempt to stop the unknown monster.

  "嘣..."

A huge gunshot finally drowned out the panicked screams, creating a brief break in the chaotic basement.

Some broken cement blocks fell from the ceiling one after another. People looked stupidly at the strange man who had just arrived today. He was holding a big black gun with the muzzle pointing upward. He looked at everyone with an angry look on his face. The black muzzle was directly in front of him. The smoke was rising from the sky, and several people with some knowledge of weapons immediately recognized that the man was holding a powerful M1911A1. If the large bullet hit a person, it would not even hit the vital point, and it would definitely destroy him with one shot.

I don't know who said that the deterrent effect of a gun on people depends on the caliber. The larger the caliber, the more frightened people will be. Just like being pointed at by a shotgun is definitely more frightening than a pistol. However, the terrifying caliber of 1143 mm of the M1911A1 is definitely the biggest among pistols. In addition, the huge sound when it is launched is enough to shock people. For a while, no one dared to speak, even Boss Hu, who all looked at Jack in the corner.

"Anyone who doesn't want to die, just calm down and let me go. I'll deal with that thing." Jack held up the gun in one hand and protected the girls behind him with the other, his sharp brows furrowed into a "Sichuan" sign.

I don't know whether it was the gun in Jack's hand that played a role, or his words "I'll deal with that thing". In short, everyone instinctively made way for Jack to go out. Even some people on the outside stopped crowding and leaned to the sides, trying to rely on the wall to give themselves a sense of security.

"Boss Hu, I need your cooperation." Jack walked halfway and suddenly looked at Boss Hu in the crowd. Boss Hu was stunned. With so many people looking at him, he didn't dare to give in. He could only bite the bullet and agreed, "Man, what's the matter?"

"When I fire the first shot, you take everyone outside, but remember, don't panic. Otherwise, none of us will make it out today!" Jack said seriously, his gaze cold as he looked at a dark corner ahead.

Hearing Jack's words, Boss Hu instinctively followed his gaze to the corner, which was pitch black and nothing could be seen. However, Boss Hu and the few people beside him gasped in shock as they noticed two glowing green lights, resembling small light bulbs, near the ceiling in that dark corner, blinking eerily from time to time.

Boss Hu didn't know what those lights were, but in this situation, what else could it be? It was either a zombie or some kind of monster. He hoped it was just a mischievous wild cat, but considering his luck, that was nothing but a fantasy.

"Gulp…" Boss Hu swallowed hard, squeezing through the crowd with his machete and said to Jack, "Man, don't worry, I'll take care of everyone. I won't hold you back!"
