Chapter 60 - Chapter 59 — The Kingdom That Wasn't Ready (Part 1)

"That's outrageous!"

An old man stood up and spoke words of justice.

"I agree. These people put a donkey on the king's son purely for their own amusement."

Two women were in tears as they watched the scene unfold.

"That donkey brayed as if he were enjoying himself with the King's son."

"Knock, knock!"

"That donkey must be executed immediately."

A member of the Royal Council slammed the gavel.

"Silence!"

Everyone sat down again at the command of King Asterium Pegasus the First.

There's no way I can escape this castle. The doors are locked, and the windows are guarded.

Who would have thought that I would perish because of a donkey?

"Father, help me! I. . . I can't take it anymore!"

"Poin!"

The king's son could no longer bear the weight of the donkey and was crushed beneath him.

"My King, what shall we do with these people?"

Grand Chancellor Thomas More awaited his orders.

"Your Majesty, allow me to explain what happened?"

"No one gave you permission. . ."

"Thomas More, you have my permission."

King Asterium raised his hand.

"My King, these people. . ."

"Lady Kaela, you have the floor. . ."

"Thank you!"

I wiped the sweat from my face and, even with my hands tied, bowed before the King.

"King Asterium, your son deceived us."

"That's slander, Father! Don't believe this vile woman."

Vile woman, am I? You bastard prince.

"Hmm, as I was saying, your son nearly killed us by making me and my friends climb a mountain for seven hours."

"I never instructed you to climb the mountain. I merely pointed out the path. Therefore, do not blame me for your incompetence."

Burro, kill this prince.

"Not only are they evil people, they're liars as well. How can our king allow someone so delinquent to speak?"

"SPLAT!"

People began throwing food at me and my friends.

"Silence!"

The King rose in fury.

"My son, Edward, have you done this again?"

Again? This isn't the first time?

"I suspected it from the beginning. . ."

"Huh?"

The King froze.

The crowd witnessing the trial turned pale.

Thomas More leaned against the King's throne.

The guards dropped their weapons.

These people had never seen a donkey that. . .

"The donkey spoke?"

"Yes."

". . ."

"What an interesting species."

The King removed his crown and placed it on its stand.

"See, useless prince? At last, someone has recognized my nobility."

I don't think Burro understood. . .

"My son."

The King slowly looked at his own son.

"Yes, Father?"

"You. . . You really did this?"

"Did what?"

"You. . ."

"Your Majesty, sit here."

The King leaned against his throne.

"Did you manipulate travelers into climbing that mountain again?"

"Hahaha, I just wanted to have some fun."

That bastard is laughing at us?

"Lady Kaela, the King's son is known for causing troublesome incidents. Take a look at this."

"Poof!"

Thomas More took out a crystal ball and showed me. . . everything Edward had done.

The people who had thrown food at us earlier were now ashamed.

"Father, you should have seen the look on that donkey's face when he came down the mountain and didn't know how to brake the carriage."

"Nhanc!"

"Ow! Stop biting my ears!"

Edward was covered in bite marks.

"Your Majesty, your son forced me to pull a carriage. Me! A pure-blooded horse, highly sensitive to manual labor."

"Wait."

"Are you a donkey or a horse?"

The King eagerly awaited an answer, staring at me.

But. . .

"Vloing!"

I simply shook my head.

"I understand the situation."

What? He understood something I didn't even explain.

"Pure-blooded horse, I understand the entire situation. And to resolve this matter, I ask you to get off my son."

The King didn't just say that. . .?

"I will get off your son, not because Your Majesty requested it, but because I have been recognized by the noble court."

The audience erupted into an uproar.

"What disrespect! How dare that donkey speak to the King like that?"

"It's a donkey!"

"A donkey cannot speak to His Majesty that way!"

"Please, stop paying attention to this. . ."

I wanted to disappear.

"Poin!"

Burro puffed out his chest and marched away.

"Father, thank you for helping me."

Edward hid behind King Asterium.

I can't believe we were deceived by a foolish prince. Seven hours to climb a mountain and five minutes to come down. And now I'm here, about to have my head chopped off.

Before they decapitate me, I'm going to show this prince just how angry I am.

"Wow, this food is delicious. Do you people eat demon meat every day?"

"You're a wild animal. Don't touch me."

Lyra was sitting at the table with the guests.

"Zzz. . ."

Seraphine, are you only good for eating and sleeping?

"Ding-ding."

The King is about to announce something. . .

"Tap. . . Tap. . .!"

The King's footsteps echoed throughout the castle.

The audience bowed.

The guards cleared a path for the King.

Why is the King coming toward me?

"Tap. . . Tap. . .!"

He stopped in front of me and. . .

"On my behalf, I apologize for the behavior of my ill-mannered son."

What?????????

Everyone said.
