After the intense light subsided, Ivan slowly opened his eyes.
"New master locked. New master granted Class 1 authority."
Ivan's body tensed instantly. "Who are you? A robot? An artificial intelligence?" He instinctively prepared himself for a fight. "And why are you calling me master?"
The silver robot replied calmly, "I am a legacy robot of the Orin Civilization. I am responsible for preserving and passing down the technology and knowledge of the Orin Clan. If the Orin Clan is destroyed, I am activated. According to Orin Clan regulations, I must choose a new master to inherit the civilization's legacy."
A legacy robot? Ivan thought. So you've chosen me as the successor of the Orin Clan?
"Yes," the robot continued. "According to Regulation 671, you have been selected as the new master."
Ivan let out a quiet breath. In a single day, I transmigrated and became the legacy holder of a fallen civilization. He quickly shook his head. Forget that. The most important thing right now is survival in this world filled with mystery and the unknown.
After organizing his thoughts, Ivan asked, "What kind of abilities do you have?"
"Please wait a moment, Master," the silver robot replied. It stepped closer and gently placed a hand on Ivan's head.
A cool sensation spread through his mind. Instead of discomfort, he felt an overwhelming sense of peace and warmth, as if he were safely cradled in his mother's womb.
After nearly ten seconds, the robot withdrew its hand. "Master, my abilities and some basic knowledge of the Orin Civilization have been imprinted into your mind. You only need to think about them to access this information."
Following its words, Ivan focused inward. Instantly, countless streams of information surged through his consciousness. As the flow settled, he gained a clear understanding of the silver robot's capabilities and the foundations of the Orin Civilization.
The Orin Civilization had once been a super civilization at the peak of its universe. Its technology was unimaginably advanced, controlling millions of planets and reaching a level of glory few civilizations could rival. This silver robot was a legacy unit created to preserve their knowledge in case the civilization was ever destroyed.
Inside the robot was an incredibly powerful intelligent core. Its processing speed was astronomical—so vast that even the combined computing power of all the computers on Earth would not equal a trillionth of it.
Stored within this intelligent core were countless technologies of the Orin Civilization, spanning from their earliest inventions to the peak of their prosperity. Any single technology among them would be revolutionary.
However, the robot's most powerful ability was the Void Furnace. As long as sufficient energy was supplied, it could create any type of war machine from nothing. This technology had once been one of the Orin Civilization's greatest weapons and the cornerstone of their dominance.
After finishing his review of the information, Ivan opened his eyes and looked at the silver robot. "What should I call you?"
"I am Legacy Robot Nova, Master," it replied. "You may call me Nova—or give me a new name."
"Nova is fine," Ivan said. "Activate camouflage mode and transform into human form."
"Yes, Master."
In moments, Nova's metallic body shifted and restructured, transforming into an ordinary-looking human girl with a build similar to Ivan's.
Ivan observed her briefly before asking, "How much energy do you have left?"
"Master, the transmigration process consumed a large amount of my energy. Currently, I have only 3.8% remaining. Maintaining daily operations consumes 0.1% of energy."
Ivan frowned. "Less than five percent?" He paused, then asked, "How do you replenish energy?"
"I can absorb any form of energy," Nova replied. "This includes basic energy, biological energy, electrical energy, and nuclear energy and many othre. Absorption efficiency varies depending on the energy type."
So the energy problem can be solved, Ivan thought. Without hesitation, he said, "Activate the scanning system. Scan the surrounding area for any magical beasts."
"Yes, Master. Activating scanning mode. Detection radius: 20 kilometers. Energy consumption: 0.1% per hour."
A blue light flashed in Nova's eyes as a powerful detection wave spread outward in all directions, with her at its center.
"Scan complete."
The blue light faded. Nova pointed toward a narrow path to the west. "Walking approximately fifteen kilometers in this direction will lead to a human town. There are currently no magical beasts detected in the surrounding area."
Hearing this, Ivan finally relaxed. It felt as if a heavy stone had been lifted from his chest.
"A town to the west…" he murmured. "That should be Thornheart Town."
Still feeling uneasy in the depths of the forest, Ivan looked toward the west and said, "Let's return to the castle first."
With that, he began walking westward.
