[Afternoon - Vjaret's House]
Vjaret's house was normal.
That was the first surprise. After seeing my place, he probably expected everyone to live in mansions. But this was just... a house. Small. Cozy. Lived-in.
His mother opened the door.
"You must be Nams!" She beamed. "Vjaret talks about you constantly. Come in, come in—"
"Nams's maids are here too," Vjaret said.
His mother blinked. "Maids?"
"Long story."
Angy appeared behind me, waving. "HI! I'm Angy! I brought snacks!"
Shenhe appeared beside her, silent, blue-streaked hair somehow making her look more intimidating.
Vjaret's mother stared.
Vjaret's father appeared behind her. Stared too.
"Maids?" He repeated.
"They've been with him since he was three," Vjaret supplied. "It's a thing."
"It's a THING?" His mother looked at me. "You've had maids since you were three?"
"Yes?"
"And they're your age?"
"Yes?"
"And they came to Holi with you?"
"They... didn't give me a choice."
Angy beamed. "We're family! Family does Holi together!"
Something shifted in Vjaret's mother's expression. Confusion melted into something softer.
"Well then." She stepped aside. "Family is welcome. Come in, both of you."
Shenhe's eyebrow twitched. The closest she came to surprise.
Angy was already inside, talking to Vjaret's grandmother about something.
This was going to be interesting.
