​I stopped walking and blinked, realizing the servant had vanished. The corridor was empty, bathed in the long, flickering shadows of the wall sconces. "Hello?" I called out, but only the echo of my own voice returned. Panic began to flutter in my chest. I turned to go back, but the hallway behind me looked entirely different—darker, colder, and filled with doors I didn't recognize.

​The magnetic pull in my chest was becoming undeniable. It felt like a hook had lodged itself under my ribs, dragging me toward a heavy, ornate door at the end of the hall. And then, I felt him. He wasn't there physically, but he was inside my head, his presence wrapping around my thoughts like a shroud. Stay, his voice whispered—low, rough, and devastatingly intimate. You're beautiful. You drive me mad.
