"Pegasus preserved these three rare cards in the world based on those murals," Isis said. "You've surely heard the legend: whoever obtains all three will stand at the pinnacle of Duelists alongside an undefeated myth—and earn the title King of Kings."
"I've heard of them," Kaiba replied, eyes narrowing. "They're called God Cards… but depending on the wielder they can be used for good or evil. One wrong step—and they're forbidden cards that can even take a duelist's life."
"Exactly," Isis said. "Even Pegasus feared them. Our Antiquities Bureau accepted his request and sealed them in the Valley of the Kings… but someone stole them."
Kaiba's gaze turned sharp. "Who did it?"
Isis answered with three words.
"The Rare Hunters."
"Rare Hunters? What organization is that?"
"They are rare-card hunters operating in the shadows across the world," Isis explained. "They sell stolen rare cards for enormous profit. Rumors say they've even become a criminal syndicate involved in producing counterfeit rare cards—but their true identity is unknown. We want to reclaim the God Cards before the worst happens."
She gestured back toward the exhibit.
"This Ancient Egypt exhibition is meant to display the murals that hide the origin of the cards. I believe these murals possess the power to gather duelists."
"So you want to turn this city into a Duel Monsters stage," Kaiba said, understanding immediately. "If those vultures have any sense of smell, they'll target crowds of duelists… and they'll come for my Blue-Eyes White Dragon—and…"
His eyes flicked toward Kisaragi.
At that moment, Isis stepped forward and placed a single card into Kaiba's hand.
"And please… accept this."
Kaiba's eyes widened.
"Obelisk the Tormentor!"
"The other two were stolen," Isis said. "To reclaim them, I entrust Obelisk to you."
Kaiba's mouth curled into a confident, dangerous smile.
"You're using it as bait. You trust me that much? What if I simply want to possess all three God Cards… and refuse to act?"
Isis didn't flinch.
"I believe you."
"Hmph."
Kaiba pocketed the card, then lifted Kisaragi into his arms and walked toward the museum exit.
Before leaving, he said over his shoulder:
"I'll play your little game against the Rare Hunters. But I have one condition."
"What condition?"
"Don't bring up 'kings' or 'priests' or any other supernatural garbage in front of me. I have no interest in the past."
And with that, he carried Kisaragi out of the museum.
In the car
Kaiba let Kisaragi rest against his shoulder. In his other hand, he stared at the God Card he'd just obtained.
"So this is the power of Obelisk the Tormentor…" he murmured. "And Kisaragi… Seth. Who exactly is Seth?"
Kisaragi's eyelids fluttered.
Kaiba looked down. "You're awake?"
"…What happened?" she asked groggily.
"You collapsed after seeing the mural."
"I'm fine," Kisaragi said, forcing herself to focus. "When I saw it… strange images appeared in my head."
In truth, what she saw was the scene from three thousand years ago—Kisara being pierced through the chest by a dark high priest. After that, Seth was possessed and forced into battle with the Pharaoh.
Then Kaiba asked again, blunt and quiet:
"Who is Seth?"
Kisaragi's expression froze.
Why does Kaiba know that name?
"…Why do you know that name?" she probed carefully.
"You said it," Kaiba answered. "Right before you passed out."
Kisaragi inwardly groaned.
Great. This body really does love doing weird things on its own.
"It's a name from the images," she said, choosing her words. "Probably the name of the priest who fought the Pharaoh."
"Hmph. A name of someone from the past. I'm not interested."
Then, as if closing the subject by force, Kaiba continued:
"Tomorrow, come to KaibaCorp. You're going to help me test the new Duel Disk."
"My Duel technique is refined. Using your dueling as a benchmark is ideal for system testing."
"I got it," Kisaragi replied.
So it's starting… Battle City, she thought.
The next day — KaibaCorp R&D Division
Kaiba and Kisaragi stood facing each other in the duel arena. Above them, technicians swarmed around consoles and scaffolding, running final checks.
"Main computer, system start!"
"All systems—checks complete!"
Mokuba called out from the control side. "Brother, Kisaragi—prep is complete. The new Duel Disk test can begin at any time!"
Kaiba and Kisaragi nodded and mounted the Duel Disks onto their left arms.
"So this is the Duel Disk from the anime…" Kisaragi grinned, running her fingers over it. "This is so cool."
"Looks like you approve," Kaiba said.
"Yeah. I really do."
"Good. Then we begin."
Kaiba snapped his Duel Disk open.
"Duel!"

"Kaiba—I'll take the first move!"
"My turn—draw!"
If this is just a hardware test, ending too fast defeats the point, Kisaragi thought. I'll hold back a little.
"I activate the Continuous Spell 'Elemental Spring.' Every time a monster on the field returns to its owner's hand, I gain 500 LP!"
"A new card…" Kaiba murmured.
"I Normal Summon 'Dragonmaid Nudyarl' in Attack Position!"
A maid with vivid red hair appeared—polite posture, shining dragon horns, and a crimson tail swaying behind her like a metronome.

"Dragonmaid…" Kaiba's eyes narrowed as he assessed the monster.
"I activate Nudyarl's effect: when it's Summoned, I can add a different 'Dragonmaid' monster from my Deck to my hand—then I send one 'Dragonmaid' monster from my hand to the Graveyard."
"I add 'Dragonmaid Ernus' to my hand… then I send it to the Graveyard."
"I set two cards face-down. Turn end."
