Chapter 11 - Zeus Olympian Celestial

The hall did not fall silent.

It tightened.

Lucifer felt it before he lifted his head. The air seemed to compress, not violently, but decisively, as if something immense had entered and the space itself was rearranging around that presence.

The doors opened.

Zeus Olympian Celestial stepped inside.

He did not need spectacle. He did not flare his aura. He walked at a steady pace, broad shoulders relaxed, movements efficient. His blue hair carried the depth of storm-heavy skies, and his eyes, clear, bright, unyielding, did not search.

They settled.

Behind him came Hera Olympian Celestial, calm and composed, her expression unreadable. If Zeus was thunder restrained, Hera was the silence that followed it.

Brandon entered with visible tension, his jaw locked, hostility unhidden.

Nathan followed, sharper, more observant, watching everything without appearing to move.

And then Selena stepped forward.

Lucifer forced himself to breathe evenly.

Dark blue hair framed her face neatly, falling in smooth lines over her shoulders. Her beauty was not gentle. It was distant, refined, like something placed beyond reach. Her dark blue eyes were steady, controlled to a degree that felt unnatural.

She did not glare.

She did not look away.

She regarded him.

That unsettled him more than anger would have.

Rowan stepped forward.

"Zeus."

No title. Just the name.

Michael's posture straightened. Sebastian's gaze flicked between the two men.

Even Brandon paused briefly.

Zeus's mouth curved faintly.

"Rowan."

They clasped forearms briefly, firm and equal. Not Monarch and Duke.

Old friends. Warriors.

Zeus took his seat. Hera followed. Brandon and Nathan positioned themselves beside Selena.

Lucifer noticed something immediately.

Selena and her brothers were seated near Amelia.

Amelia.

Why is she here?

Amelia sat perfectly still, hands folded neatly, posture impeccable. She did not look at him.

Lucifer remained standing.

He let his gaze move subtly around the hall. Rowan had a seat. Hera did. Zeus, of course. Michael and Sebastian were seated on Valcrest's side. Nathan had a place.

There was no seat left for him.

A faint, humorless breath escaped him.

Appropriate.

If this ended poorly, there would be no place for him anywhere.

"Lucifer," Zeus said calmly.

He stepped forward when summoned.

Standing alone at the center of the hall, he felt the imbalance.

Everyone seated.

Him standing.

Zeus leaned forward slightly.

"Why my daughter?"

The question was calm. It required no volume.

Lucifer's pulse spiked.

Zeus continued.

"Do you understand what is being said outside this hall? That something inexplicable occurred between you and her behind closed doors? That you crossed a boundary?"

Brandon's fingers dug into the armrest. Nathan's gaze sharpened. Selena's dark blue eyes flickered once.

Lucifer swallowed.

"I did not assault her."

Zeus's gaze narrowed.

"Everyone saw you lunge at her."

"I did."

Brandon shifted sharply.

"You admit it."

"I grabbed her shoulders," Lucifer said clearly. "I believed she had poisoned me."

The hall stiffened.

Zeus did not blink.

"Explain."

Lucifer inhaled slowly.

"I was given a drink. Orange juice. Within moments, something felt wrong. My vision blurred. My limbs grew heavy. A maid guided me away. I believed I had been drugged."

"And you followed?" Nathan asked.

"I could barely stand," Lucifer replied, irritation slipping through. "I was not thinking clearly."

Zeus's gaze remained fixed.

"And when Selena entered the room?"

"I mistook her for the maid who served me. I was disoriented. I reacted."

Selena's fingers tightened against her gown.

Lucifer noticed.

"She defended herself," he continued. "And she should have."

Her eyes shifted slightly, as if replaying the memory.

Not accusation.

Something closer to confusion.

Zeus leaned back.

"And you expect me to accept this without question?"

Lucifer's jaw tightened.

"I was unconscious for two days. I woke only hours ago. I was confined to my chamber and denied access even to my father."

Zeus's gaze moved to Rowan.

Rowan spoke evenly.

"House Valcrest will not interfere in this matter. Whatever judgment you pass, we will not contest."

Michael stiffened. Sebastian's hand curled faintly.

Zeus studied Rowan.

"I assumed persuasion would be necessary."

"Don't worry. I believe in your judgment." Rowan replied calmly.

Something twisted inside Lucifer.

Not abandonment.Distance.

Zeus turned back to him.

"Your reputation does you no favors. You have cultivated recklessness. Carelessness. Now my daughter's name is entangled in speculation."

"I did not assault her."

"Many believe you did."

"They were not in that room," Lucifer snapped before he could restrain himself.

Brandon half rose. Nathan restrained him with a quiet grip.

Zeus remained unmoved.

"You are angry."

"Yes," Lucifer said. "Because I am being blamed for something I did not do."

Silence settled.

Selena continued to watch him.

Something shifted behind her composure.

Zeus leaned forward again.

"You have no proof. No witness. No time."

Lucifer steadied himself.

"No."

"Then what do you intend to rely upon?"

"Uncle Zeus," he said quietly, the familiarity deliberate but controlled. "I am not going anywhere. You can decide your judgment after hearing me out."

The hall stilled.

"I woke hours ago. I cannot investigate. I cannot defend myself properly. But she deserves truth, not rumor."

Selena's fingers tightened again.

"She should not bear whispers because of me."

Her dark blue eyes lifted fully to his.

For a brief second, something fractured beneath her composure.

Hurt.

Confusion.

A tremor she forced back into control.

Zeus noticed.

"You understand the consequence of lying here."

Lucifer met his gaze.

"I do."

Zeus held his stare.

Then Lucifer reached into his spatial storage.

The movement was deliberate.

He withdrew a small black case and opened it.

Inside lay a dark card.

The air shifted instantly.

Blue lines illuminated across its surface.

Zeus's expression hardened.

"You know what that is."

"Yes." said Lucifer.

Hera spoke calmly.

"A Truth Extraction Card. A true A-Rank Forbidden Card."

Lucifer nodded.

Zeus continued.

"It does not merely question. It reaches into memory itself. It forces alignment between recollection and declaration. If deception exists, it tears it free."

The temperature in the hall seemed to drop.

"And if there is no deception?" Lucifer asked.

"It will still wound," Zeus replied. "The mind resists intrusion. Some emerge fractured. Some do not emerge whole."

Brandon's jaw tightened. Nathan's gaze sharpened further.

"Once activated, it cannot be halted without consequence."

"I understand."

"If it proves you lied, there will be no negotiation."

"I know."

Zeus's voice lowered.

"And if it proves you did not lie, the one responsible will answer to me."

A faint current flickered along his fingers.

The card pulsed.

The symbols shifted.

They aligned.

Its name surfaced across the surface in cold, merciless clarity.

The Truth Card was ready.
