Chapter 43 - Chapter 44: V Me 300 Million and I’ll Make You an Emanator of Trailblaze

The instant Wei Qing sensed [Remembrance] descend, he didn't hesitate—he activated [The World].

Even if the other party was an empty shell, for reasons unknown it had still left traces of "deeds" in the cosmos—like recording the retirement of some ancient fossil from the IPC. Maybe it wasn't like Aha… but last time's experience was still vivid. Since he already knew the outcome of Phantylia's plan, he had no intention of letting himself get interfered with any further.

Within the world where time was stopped, Wei Qing's consciousness violently tore free from the simulation built by the Poor-Observation Array and snapped back to reality.

Yeah, this might be a little unfair to the two geniuses—but he made the decision on the spot and launched an attack.

He was going to smash the Poor-Observation Array to pieces.

But just as he finished wrecking the delicate instruments—and right as time was about to start flowing again—his consciousness was dragged back into the simulated world.

And Fuli still hadn't moved. It was as if the Aeon had simply stood there, waiting for his return.

Did [The World] fail?

Or… after his time stop ended, did the other party simply rewind time and yank him back?

Wei Qing froze for a beat. Then again… the other party was an old veteran even among Aeons. Not that strange.

"May I ask what business the Aeon of [Remembrance] has with me?" He stopped struggling and asked directly.

Fuli didn't answer in words—perhaps it didn't communicate in mortal ways at all.

A chunk of information poured straight into Wei Qing's senses.

[In the near future—one hundred years, or a few hundred—you will die. But you were not meant to die.]

Wei Qing's mind jolted. He had never felt such a sharp, instinctive dread.

Death?

With his current strength, he wasn't arrogant enough to claim "strongest under the Aeons"—but he was absolutely in the very top tier beneath them.

Unless an Aeon personally acted, he couldn't imagine himself dying.

But which Aeon would strike him? He couldn't make sense of it.

"Then how will I die?" Wei Qing stared into Fuli's indescribable form and pressed again.

Fuli remained indistinct—yet even greater information slammed into Wei Qing's consciousness.

Endless darkness. Not the void, but some more ultimate "nothing."

A gigantic, ancient-looking scythe swept through silently. Wherever it passed, it didn't merely erase matter—it erased existence itself, wiping out all possibilities of past and future alike.

A calm voice—neither male nor female, without joy or sorrow—rang out within absolute emptiness:

"…A destined ending. None may escape. Your anomaly is also listed among the final."

The vision ended there.

Fuli's answer was obvious.

It was [Finality] that killed him.

No—why the hell? What did I ever do to piss it off?!

Wei Qing was furious. In three hundred years since transmigrating, even after acquiring the power of "not eating beef," he had still lived honestly, quietly, and peacefully on the Luofu.

At first, he'd only thought staying on the Luofu was the perfect way to coast openly—his boss didn't manage him, his coworkers didn't even know him.

Then Lan ruined that plan.

So what now—was it that in the future he went insane and that's why [Finality] personally executed him?

Before he could reason it out, his consciousness suddenly broke free of the simulation and returned to reality.

And the Aeon of [Remembrance] was gone—like everything that happened had been nothing but an illusion.

Wei Qing immediately looked at the Poor-Observation Array.

The Divination Commission was a wreck. The complex instruments had indeed been reduced to scrap under his attack.

So… [The World] still worked on Aeon-level beings—it just didn't work that well.

Meanwhile, Herta and Ruan Mei were still standing there, apparently stunned by the abrupt upheaval that had just happened.

Herta's usually picky eyes were now blazing. She practically lunged at Wei Qing, completely ignoring the expensive wreckage still sparking around them.

"What was that just now?!" Her voice shot up with excitement—almost trembling. "Was that another Aeon descending? It wasn't Aha this time, was it?!"

"Which Aeon responded to the Poor-Observation Array? What did it say to you?!"

This twist was completely beyond her expectations.

After the last experiment, she and Ruan Mei had ultimately labeled it a failure—because what showed up was Aha, a being who only came for fun. Its arrival might not have had anything to do with their deductions at all.

But this time was different.

This time they weren't even fully prepared, yet they still drew an Aeon's gaze—and not Aha.

Wei Qing looked at Herta's eyes—so bright they might emit light—and at Ruan Mei's more restrained but equally curious gaze. He rubbed his brow.

He'd genuinely only come to divine his luck.

He hadn't expected to roll a death notice instead.

Ruan Mei, sharper, caught the fleeting heaviness between his brows and asked softly, "My lord… that seems… not a good omen?"

"I saw [Trailblaze]." Wei Qing answered succinctly, dead serious.

"Aha—Akivili?" Herta blinked.

"But Akivili has already fallen. Are you saying it's still alive?"

"Akivili did fall," Wei Qing said slowly, voice carrying the faintest rasp. "But it revived."

"It told me it has returned from death, and the path of [Trailblaze] will once again blaze brightly."

"But it only just revived, so its foundation is unstable. That Aeon told me: as long as I transfer it 300 million credits so it can buy parts to repair the Astral Express, it can grant me a blessing and make me an Emanator of Trailblaze."

"Unfortunately, I don't have 300 million. I'm just a poor man. I missed this once-in-a-millennium opportunity."

Wei Qing's expression was heavy and sincere—like he truly regretted losing the chance to become an Emanator of Trailblaze.

He even sighed at exactly the right moment, eyes revealing just the right amount of longing for those 300 million credits—and sympathy for Akivili's "predicament."

Herta: "..."

Ruan Mei: "..."

The two geniuses' expressions froze solid.

The air filled with a silence that was… hard to describe.
