"Phantylia?"
Wei Qing froze for a beat.
He kept his face calm as he sized up the harmless-looking foxian girl in front of him, but inside, a storm surged.
Sure, the idiot system loved spouting nonsense—but at the very least, it usually got names right.
He hadn't taken it seriously before. But now that he actually examined her carefully… the feeling of familiarity hit him hard.
Damn it—so that's why her "template" felt so similar to his.
She wasn't some random suspicious orphan.
She was a colleague.
And honestly, Phantylia being interested in him made perfect sense.
She was an Emanator hand-picked by Nanook specifically for dealing with the Hunt—so of course she'd want to eliminate a special existence like Wei Qing.
They were both Annihilation Gang Lords, sure, but as the only one who was Nanook's "biological" Emanator, Wei Qing was… different.
Nanook wouldn't go out of his way telling others about Wei Qing's existence. Wei Qing himself also never revealed his true identity publicly.
So the other Lords simply didn't know they had this "coworker" hiding in the shadows.
A sudden call shattered the cozy atmosphere between the three.
Baiheng's expression instantly collapsed into exhaustion.
"Ah—sorry!" She stood up with an apologetic smile. "Something happened at the Sky-Faring Commission. I need to go right now."
Linglong quickly said, "Cousin, go take care of work—it's important. I'll be fine."
Baiheng looked between Wei Qing and her cousin, hesitating. "Then… Wei Qing, can you help me look after Linglong? She just arrived on the Luofu and isn't familiar with anything yet."
Wei Qing smiled lightly. "No problem. Leave it to me."
"Perfect!" Baiheng clasped her hands together. "I'll head out—I'll treat you both to a meal later!"
And just like that, she hurried out of the teahouse.
The private room fell quiet—leaving only Wei Qing and Linglong behind.
"Brother Wei Qing," Linglong said suddenly, "I heard Changle Heaven has lots of fun places. Could you take me to look around?"
Disgusting. A thousand-year-old hag pretending to be an innocent girl.
Wei Qing felt mildly nauseated.
But he had to admit—Phantylia's "acting cute" skills were terrifying. Who would ever suspect that this sweet foxian girl was actually an Annihilation Gang Lord in disguise?
Still, Wei Qing didn't answer. Instead, he tossed out a bizarre question.
"Linglong… do you believe in gravity?"
"Gravity?" She blinked, looking confused. "You mean… gravity in physics?"
"The gravity that brings people together," Wei Qing said calmly. "Like gravitation—meeting because fate pulls you into the same orbit."
"Maybe our meeting today was destined long ago."
It made no sense, but to maintain her persona, Linglong kept playing along, looking earnest and naive.
"Brother Wei Qing speaks so profoundly… but it sounds very reasonable."
Wei Qing ignored the flattery. He produced a delicate gift box from nowhere and placed it on the table.
Linglong looked surprised—yet inside, she sneered.
So after all that… he's like every other shallow insect. Just lusting after this skin.
"Brother Wei Qing… this is…?" She lowered her head shyly, fingers twisting the hem of her clothes.
Wei Qing slid the box toward her, a faintly meaningful smile at the corner of his mouth.
"Open it."
Linglong carefully undid the wrapping.
The moment she saw what was inside, her pupils shrank violently.
"..."
A heart.
A heart ripped from a Destruction voidspawn.
"How is it?" Wei Qing rested his cheek on one hand, smiling warmly. "I picked a fresh one for you."
The air in the room froze solid.
Linglong's smile nearly cracked.
"Brother Wei Qing… what does this mean?"
Wei Qing leisurely poured himself tea.
"Lady Phantylia—are you 'experiencing life' in this form?"
Linglong—no, Phantylia—went cold instantly.
She slowly set the heart down, dangerous light flashing in her eyes.
"Heh." Her voice turned soft and sharp. "Looks like I underestimated you."
"Mutual," Wei Qing replied, taking a sip. "I didn't expect a dignified Annihilation Gang Lord to disguise herself as a little girl just to get close to me."
"Though honestly… your 'cute act' was pretty convincing. I really should've taken a picture and spread it around."
After saying that, Wei Qing didn't move at all—still sitting there, looking like he was full of openings.
But inside he was already laughing.
Because he knew exactly what he was about to do.
Phantylia hesitated—suspicious, but not overly so.
With this temporary body, the power she could wield probably wasn't enough to beat him anyway.
Worst case, she could abandon the vessel and retreat. To prevent accidents, she'd already prepared backup plans—escaping the Xianzhou was still doable.
It would just be a shame to lose the sleeper agents she'd cultivated among the foxians for centuries.
With that thought, she made her decision.
She'd squeeze the last value out of this identity—test this so-called Hunt's Emanator one more time—and then withdraw.
She exploded into motion.
Her slender fingers sharpened into claws, darting straight for Wei Qing's head.
She moved.
She attacked.
Bang—
Phantylia's pupils contracted.
Her arrogant expression shattered into raw shock.
"…What?"
She looked down at her own feet, then back up at Wei Qing—still seated in the same place.
Their distance hadn't changed by even a hair.
"No way. I clearly attacked!"
As an Emanator standing at the pinnacle of the universe, Phantylia could not possibly misjudge her own actions.
Yet she hadn't even seen him move.
Illusion?
No—she rejected the idea instantly.
As one of the formless Heliobi, and now an Emanator of Destruction, she shouldn't be so easily tricked.
"What's wrong, Phantylia?" Wei Qing's voice carried a hint of mockery.
"Too scared to move because of my aura?"
She didn't answer.
She attacked again.
And once again—her motion stopped.
She realized in disbelief that she had been returned to her original position again.
And worse—
The tail of this body started to feel strangely sensitive, like it had been shamelessly "handled" by some invisible lecher.
Phantylia felt humiliated beyond measure.
But she still couldn't understand how he was doing it.
And then, as if from some vague instinctive premonition…
A ridiculous, impossible, idiotic thought surfaced in her mind.
Could Wei Qing's power be… controlling chairs?
